  • This song is so fun to play.

  • Very nice! Bach would himself write for strings quartet if he listened to this! Good intonation and the arrangement is fine. The tempo is very in the baroque style and not in the modern time "running for life tempos" we often have to listen. Congratulations and keep up working in behalf of great music!

  • they are not in harmony with each other.... but im sure with practice they could sound beutiful

  • This is a terrible arrangement! The cut and the simplification are inexcusable!

  • @91bobtest Well, jeez. This arrangement is for more younger players, obviously. Give them a break. One day, they will be able to play the original, but considering they are younger players, they did fairly well compared to others I have listened to who are their age.

  • @fruitikay and how old are they, may i ask? i know a 15 year old who can play the entire thing from memory on the violin. in fact he recorded himself playing all the parts-he plays all string instruments

  • @91bobtest They look high school or college age. There are videos on youtube of 3 year olds playing Paganini Caprice 24, that doesn't mean all 3 year olds should be able to play that.

  • @91bobtest , this video was uploaded almost 5 years ago. They were in middle school/junior high at the time. Currently, 3 are in conservatory and one is in art school.

  • Wow, this very difficult to listen to. The terrible sound quality in the recording is unacceptable.

First of all, the tempo is too slow and drags. The style was not correct. To play in the baroque style, you must use the upper half of the bow, clip the ends of the longer notes, and be sure not use too much vibrato.

I would rate this performance 2/10.

    Sorry, better luck next time.

  • @91bobtest I could not agree more -- at least the intonation is good, though!!

  • @91bobtest Temp sounds fine to me. As far as "baroque style" um... this isn't baroque style. They didn't have string quartets back then. It's called an arrangement. They're trying to do something different. I thought they did just fine.

  • Its nice and pretty, but not played in baroque style as it should be

  • omqq.. love this!;)

  • Ahh, how nice to finally hear it slowed down to a delightful moderato. The phrasing really resonates. The arrangement for quartet is also quite surprising. I like to be surprised! Bitches be crazy!

  • There's just four of them! What a sound!

  • esto es perfecto

  • This is the best quartet on YouTube but the pace is a bit slow.

  • Following up on my previous comment, we just played this as a quartet, and it went very well. I actually think it might have been better than playing it with our full chamber orchestra last year. We also played the abridged version of movement 1 (without measures 46 to 125). Movement 3 is my favorite though.

  • this is my most favorite piece, so beautiful, thank you :)

  • Ahh~ I miss this. Used to play this in chamber orchestra as second violin. A pleasant piece to play. :)

  • Playing This Song For Disneyland...

  • @arbiter26 Lo, No? Wth ? XDD

  • Very nice. Brandenburg's such a classic; every strings player have most likely played, or will play, this song.

  • uhhmmm... i hope you know its not the greatest idea to play a cello in a dress.... -.-" ive done it b4, never doing it again.. sides, i hate dresses.. -_-"

  • u guys r so good

we're playing this piece in my class n i still cant get it

  • nice, i'm playing the first movement with my ensemble at a competition on the 29th

  • This was fantastic. Great job :]

I play the cello and have to start playing this piece for tomorrow.

  • Don't let people like MrTerradat annoy you. People like that are trivial. I very much enjoyed the entire concerto which was beautifully performed by the very charming ladies. Thanks for a nice piece of work. Douglas

  • Very nice, but.. what happend to the rest of the 1st movement? or the second movement, lol.

  • @MrTerradat It is an arrangment. You dont always include every bit of the music and an arrangment.

  • hoi

    doei

  • Astonishing playing :)

    This is beautifully played.

  • hee

  • I signed in just so I could comment, good job! You all look great playing and I enjoyed the arrangement, thank you!

  • i can play all three parts for this..but not as good you...

  • Very nicely done! :)

  • This was amazing! I play the viola part to this (im in 9th grade) and i was playing along with this. Thanks! Lol.

  • It is amazing. I really like it! I am playing a simplified version and hope one day I can play like this! :)

  • Fab..:-)

  • im playing the viola part for this

  • We are playing this for the Moorhead Orchestra. I can't wait. This piece is an amazing one and one of my favorites. I play first violin.

  • hoi

  • Beautiful, this was performed so well by these four young musicians I offer all praises and accolades for you all. Thanks for posting.

  • you guysz play very good! can you please send me a copy for 1st violin?

  • there is nothing sexier than seeing a woman playing an Instrument of rope.

  • Interesting... First time I've heard someone else play the shortened version. We played that in our orchestra and quartet in highschool, and when I heard the long one I couldn't decide which I liked more. Brings back a lot of memories!

  • Comment removed

  • very nice! but why the shortened version? Measure 46 to 125 is missing in action, with all the nice but difficult arpegio's. We're playing this also, with bassoon, 2 violins and oboe, and it also works nicely compared to the 8 part string only original.

  • @AlfonsdenBroeder

The original is for 10 strings, not 8:

3 violins, 3 violas, 3 cellos, violone and continuo.

  • @wcbroccoli you're right, my bad

  • For Gabriela...

  • What??? That much sound, that much beauty, from four instruments? Oh, I love the smiles too...such a delight.

  • I love the way this is played. I would love to buy a cd of these girls playing if they have one.

  • I love listening to this. Haven't practiced this song in awhile.

  • NICE!!!

  • This is absolutely my favorite piece of music and it was done very well by these young ladies. Bravo!

  • I agree with Freestyle. I much prefer this as a quartet, everything is much crisper than when played concerto grosso. The second movement is fantastic and the1st violinists ornamentation is perfect. PS: I'm pleased to see that you've taught your audience not to applaud between movements... ;)

  • This actually worked for me. I think it sounds much cleaner with just four people, especially without the harpsicord (shiver).

  • sounds good but those people look fake

  • wow, so Beautiful and wonderful, congratulations all, from Mexico

  • i love how the c#s resonated like at 0:15

  • ausgeseischnet!!! hope i spelled that right es ist ams schoensten!

  • That was very beautiful :')

  • that's called an interpretation. janine jansen did it with vivaldi, and it worked fabulously

  • It's a wonderful piece, but never arranged for string quartet.. there are 3 parts for each instrument.. violin 1 2 3, viola 1 2 3, cello 1 2 3, and bass. How can you play that in just 4 people? but wonderful job presenting this without all the parts

  • thats actualy what my ochestra played its like only 2 pages long compared to the original 3 pages long but it sounds good

  • My personal preference is for more speed and a much lighter touch. When you crank the 3rd, it really rocks!

  • awesome!>

  • Beautiful sound, but personally, I don't think you qutie nailed the true baroque sound. Baroque is more "bouncy" and less vibrato. Other than that, I think it was a beautiful piece, and very well executed! Keep it up!

  • This is pretty good... kind of slow and melodramatic, but good.

  • you gals ah o-some!

  • i just found it and its now on my favs

  • i have always liked this piece.. beautiful..

  • Hello...

My name is André, I play cello, and I need this music...You will can send me?

I need this arranged for quartet...

    Best Regards!!!

  • Brilliant!

  • nice

  • yes its arranged for String Quartet but you did'nt play the very very beautiful hard, and strong part almost at the end, any way good job!

  • this reminds me of nostalgic frolicking through green meadows. good job :D

  • lol, how true!!! ^_^

  • That was amazing i'm playing this for an ensamble contest tomorrow!! you girls did a wonderful job!!

  • Oh My Gosh! I'm playing this in my orchesta! It's wonderful!!

  • gUD jOB gURlS!!!...5 sTARs yO!!!

  • this is greatt.

u skipped like half the peice thoo..

    am i correct??

  • I LOVE THEE 2ND MVMNT!!

  • I think they skipped a section in the first movement. Am I correct?

  • Yes you're correct. They skipped half the piece, not just one section.

  • I WUV THIS SONG!!!

  • YOU GALS ARE TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!

  • im playing this song in my string ensemble.....hehehe....

  • I EFFING WUV THIS SONG

  • they missed out the second movement ...:(?) otherwise beautiful.

  • Comment removed

  • Well done! Bravisimo! I loved evey minute.

  • the string ensemble im in is also doing this nice job

  • Awesome job, ladies!!

  • Some damn good sound coming out of a quartet. For a piece that is written for nine instruments, this is quite a ballsy push. Well done ladies.

  • i think its good... im in a school chamber group and we are playing this and you guys didn't sound half bad.. im such a geek at practicing that i play along with you guys.. lol

  • I'm sorry, I was out of line. Seriously though, it's a youtube video. A youtube video...

  • You see, that's what turns non-technical people like myself off. "Oh, this is good, BUT, isn't there supposed to be this and that. Oh, where's the doohickie this and dillyhammer that?" "OH, wait, this isn't right, there's no"...bla bla bla bla bla..... It sounds awesome. If you don't like it, go make your own video and let us be the judge.

    Comprende, Mr. and Mrs. high-horse?

  • Yes! Classical vids have that stuff all the time. It's like everyone has to show off how much they know...

  • you fail to understand that classical music is based on helping others through criticism, Bach did not intend for his music to be played this way, nor like anyone else, technical skill is one of the most important parts in music, i would appreciate if you did not mock our society by calling our criticisms doohickies or dillyhammers, please do not post on videos too sophisticated for your own self.

  • lol. Too sophisticated. Yes.

My IQ's higher than your arrogance, if you can believe that.

By the way, who's Bach and why is he raising my taxes?

  • "you're", I meant.

I had to cover that, you strike me as a grammar nazi.

  • no its your, you're is the shortened form of you are, your is correct, do not make this mistake again young one

  • you still there young one?

  • Actually, it's "your".

But you're still arrogant and my IQ is still higher than yours. How's that for "behind a monitor sophistication".

  • and there is no proof for that, we do not know each other i do not know how sophisticated you are, nor you I, and it is unfair to compare your IQ to mine young one

  • i dunno... i was rlly bored and wanted to write a flame lol and yes i can believe that... still DO NOT DISREPECT YOUR ELDERS!!!! (me)

  • Aren't there supposed to be 3 parts to violin i's. violin ii's, violas and cellos? Where are they?

  • it's arranged for a String Quartet, so they can only have 4 players. Reworking a 9 instrument piece for 4 and still make it hit the notes as if more instruments were there is quite an accomplisment.

  • Very good!

  • ok i see the cello...

but where the hell is the double bass!!!!!!

that offends me that there is none, cuz we have an important part!!!

  • string quartet is usually just 2 violins, viola and cello

  • Bach didn't even wrote a double bass part.

He wrote for three violins, three violas, three cellos, and basso continuo

  • i know but see im playing this for region and i have to play this on bass,so i was jk

  • i love this concerto!!!! I played it with me as a viola, another viola, cello, a piano, and two violins!!

  • wher did you got the sheet music for this, we hav e quartet, 3violins and cello, and were looking for new sheet music, it just that there arnt alot of arrangements for 3violins and cello aand we were thinking about brandenburg. plese help!!!!

  • i say! if your going to play "bach" do it on period instruments. :)

  • were playing this

  • why is this so slow? it should be much faster!

otherwise it was pretty good, although the people played like they had no emotions

  • It might be the encoding they used. The violins sound a little deeper and lower tone, so this might be the reason.

Its like if you play a cassette tape slowly or at regular speed, the mechanical playback might not capture the speed quickly enough.

This could have been dubbed from tape instead of a direct digital recording.

  • were doing this song in orchestra and i play bass part like the cello

  • I always thought this song sounded better slow. Good job.

  • i have to play this :)

    im a first year tho

  • Hermoso :)

    Hermosas :)

    slds.

  • that was sooooo good!!! but they took out at least a hole page in the first mov.

  • I love the tempo that you guys picked. You can hear all the diffrent parts so much better. You did an amazing job!

  • Well done.. Just a little faster would do the trick but this is amazing..i can feel bach!

  • i love this song!

  • Beautiful job ladies. I have always loved this song. I played it in the Orchestra in the 8th grade. It was a song that stuck with me. I can still play it :)

  • so beautiful

  • Great Job!

  • Wonderfull !!

Please take a look a the video version of this piece that i send to you.

    Ayello2007

  • in the recording I have on Itunes of this piece there is a harpsichord part which is really pretty.

  • i loooove this song :DDDDD

  • Nice tempo. Good dynamics. Excellent technique. Brilliant performance!

  • i played this song....this tempo...very fun to play..i love it

  • The Cellist is Very Beautiful!!

  • i've played this in concert... and to practice, since this was at the same speed, i've played along with it...we have the same exact version

  • i love this piece! :D

  • i love this concerto. it's simply great.

  • Words cannot describe the feeling this music gives me... chills... goose bumps!

Very beautiful, so relaxing... one of my favorites. All of you are amazing. I will never cease to admire Bach's natural mastery of the most diverse types of thematic modification, unexpected changes in the balance of instruments. Bachs's Branderburg Concertos are classical. The Baroque period... WOW... watching you has helped me soo much.. keep up the great work! You are all very gifted!

  • lool woops

    speeling mistake

    song*

  • i dare u guys to try to play this ong [both mvt.]

    in the right speed

    i wanna see u guys

  • that was crazy good.

i played that as a freshman with my school orchestra.

    i played as a 1st violin, 2nd chair.

the 1st piece was pretty easy, but the 2nd one WAS a challenge to get it up to the right tempo.

    GREAT JOB!

    :D

  • i played both of these movements-- after a while they're fun but the second one can get very hard to do---it's practically all 16th notes and 8th notes--- i played it in 8th grade on the best insturment ever--The VIOLA!!!!!!!!!

  • HAHAH xD i am concert master for my schools orchestra and i support the viola section this year for 7th grade but it was easy and awesome cause were not with the melody were like against it...but this year i have to play 1st violin concert master chair... D; you rock for liking the viola xD

  • lol the comment from "AnitaTseu" is my sisters account i had no clue i was on hers! xD sorry Dx but its still the same person from that comment so dont reply to her comment reply to this one

  • lovely! i think i sounds pretty, next year ill b in 8th grade nd in the concert orchestra, nd we have to learn this over the summer, but it sounds better with all the instruments like in this, in stead of just the violin! =)

  • lol if you have the first violin chair then it does sound good but its hard to play 2nd chair music is counter melody so it wont sound as well.. im concert master so yeah xD its easier when you are practicing as a group. lol but its good that you have to work on it over the summer cause im gonna be 8th grade too. But we just played it when i was in 7th lol

  • We are playing it in our orchestra and if you didn't practice it much, it is extreamly hard!!

  • nope... well not for me

it was actually was really easy for me(not wanting to brag)

    but yeah

  • Once you get the core rhythm of it, the rest just follows.

  • ooooh i love how you all played this! i've rarely heard it played at this tempo... i actually like this better! great job :)

  • woah! you guys are really good! I have to play this piece for an audition but I can't seem to play it through without getting a mistake!

  • depending on what you are auditioning for...its okay if you make a mistake just go right through it and as long as you dont stop in between like for 2 seconjds or long then youre good. just practice hard and do your best if its too late then oh well but good luck anyways xD

  • sounds good

  • Eeeeh...Barok music!!! I <3 to play this in our string quartet. But I'm not that great ^_^

  • You all played very very well! =)

  • I love this peice... :)

  • I love this peice... :)

  • Not every person is going to play Brandenburg the same way. Every playing group takes a song and makes it their own. If every group plays the same way, then whats the point? Thats the beauty of music.

& the exact piece that the video is playing says to play 'somewhat detatched.'

  • It's supposed to be played 'somewhat detached', not stacatto. Not all the notes have the dot over them. So they can have a little more long bows if they want.

  • Actually pretty much all the notes have stacatto markings over them, it does say somewhat detached in some peices but what they mean is that the stacatto is supposed to be detached. This peice is known for stacatto bows, long bows dont really fit the style of peice

  • true...very true...it says some what detached...not all notes have the stacatto over it...which means it can be played in different styles depending on the player...if it were all stacatto it wouldnt sound so beautiful because its all the same. lol I definetly agree with you...what I dont get is why people argue about stuff like this on YOUTUBE i mean its so stupid.. lol

  • very good

  • rushed and slowed down slightly at some parts but impressive for a quartet, i liked it

  • they are good

  • ummmm 1st violinist .... THERE ARE NO DASHES OVER THE QUARTER NOTES ..... u ruined the whole piece

  • arranged for String Quartet did you not see

  • yeah its good..... but it would be soooo much better if she played stacatto..... shes a really good player otherwise

  • but it doesnt matter if its for String Quartet or not. its the same song just 4 instruments. obviously you arent a musician ^_^" okay, you believe whatever... ^_^"

  • just because the 1st didnt play the stacatto doesnt mean she ruined the piece, it just didnt sound right at that exact part. so you have polayed this piece as well ^_^" okay well I see you know your music. okie dokie gotta go.

  • Look, the peice is supposed to be played stacatto, it sounds good though, ask anyone who is actually a good musician and they will tell u that this peice is supposed to be played stacatto. Think whatever u want but a piece is supposed to played how its written. Jeez

  • uhm Im a GOOD musician... and I know how to play this piece properly...not all of the notes in this song has the stacatto marking over it..if it all did then the piece would sound almost the same because its all stacatto, but what Bach's purpose of creating this piece what to make changes (stacatto no staccato, different bowing styles) to test if you can endure the changes throughout the piece...this is a test to see if you are a good musician to interpret this composition...
