Ah-ha! Screen Test with Michael Rodd. I remember it well including this memorable theme music - not heard the full version until this though. 'El Cid' was one clip they used a couple of times I recall - the bit with the jousting. Also lots of films from 'The Children's Film Foundation'.
back in 1981 i came second for my animated film "mission satellite rescue" was a mixture of animation with Lego men and alien robots made from light bulbs in space..
i got a young film makers certificate of merit and 2 rolls of super 8 film and it was shown on the TV show, .. now days i have my own special effects company, so thank you Screen test :)
Somebody's going to have to start up a 70s type Westworld experience holiday camp, straight out of Holiday On The Buses. All the original shows on the camps TV at the correct times, 70s music on the radios. Same sweets in the shops . Kids with scabs on their knees, and elbows after actually interacting with the world around them. Old people with smiles on their faces .
Everyone has to sign a waiver at the gates to reject political correctness, and health and safety paranoia for a week or two.
@steveuk17 Haha! I'm definitely for that. I can tell you were educated back then too, because you wrote 'their knees', not "there knees", "they're knees", or "ther nees". :-)
I loved my childhood through the 70s and 80s with stuff like this on the go. These poor kids today; what have they got?? Not what we had, that's for sure!!
I always remember there was a different theme for the end credits, i didn't realise it was part of the same tune. Well done routemaster19 for posting this.
One for the pub piano definately. Crazy drums, a bit like Rat Scabies.
I have to say, when I was a kid this tune never sounded so generally pissed out of it's head to me - but, NOW? With this rinky-dinky carry-on?....Good grief, I almost taste stale beer and fags like I'm wearing a donkey jacket, shouting at the top of my lungs and standing in some old "boozer" [as I think they used to be called] in The Sweeney or Get Carter....
Takes me back to having a black and white telly with 2 channels, Loved screen test the music is so upbeat and jolly just like life in the early seventys.
Classic!!, exellent long version, loved the show in the 70s!-) loved the theme...loved the duffers that couldnt get 2 points for having a really bad memory...lol
this is great

Reminds me ( a bit ) of the theme to the clothing chain adverts : 'March the Tailors dress you well!'
I love the second theme in the middle, too.
