Well shit I dunno.... first off airbags can't deploy below 30km/h.

Secondly there are 2 airbag sensors, one behind the bumper and one inside the dash, both of which need to be activated by high g-forces to be set off(in other words not a piss weak tap with a handbag).

The mechanism that deploys airbags is just not that sensitive. In my Audi the airbag won't deploy unless the ENTIRE transmission moves. I'm pretty sure the Mercedes in the video (also designed for use on the Autobahn) has a similar, if not better, mechanism.

Not only that, but airbags are packed with cornstarch to keep them from sticking to themselves so they can unfold and expand quickly and smoothly. There should have been a distinct cloud of cornstarch dust when the airbag popped.
