I don't think that something like Hulu or Netflix would be considered "the cloud." That's more like a media channel, like HBO, that you subscribe to like with cable. I could be wrong, of course.

I consider it more like a public virtual machine where you have your own "protected" allocation of usage, whether it be for data storage or computational usage. Like I said. I could be wrong in my understanding.

I went to the Canadian VMWare Express Truck Tour in April, and man everything was seamless. A person could have one workstation running with all these processes open. The person could sign in at another workstation, and all of these processes and applications were just transferred and became up in running within 3 seconds. It was just so seamless. I hope I learn more about this in my Computer and Communication Networking next year in College. Cloud Computing sounds great.

Well, google is coming out with fiber optics that let you get 1gb/sec.Apple and intel are working on lightpeak to replace USB for faster download.I think cloud service is inevitable.Apps will work over the cloud, kind of like web apps work on the iPhone.However, you will likely have the option to save your work on your hard drive.Therefore, no need to worry that your data is in the cloud.

Although I believe its possible to get a 20mb connection in one or two of the major cities. Seeing as your from japan I'm guessing you have one of them fancy "unheard of" fibre optic lines, which will hopefully be available to us in about 20 years!
