  • I know you have prbably answered this before in the reply list somewhere, but I was wondering what diesel engine and trans you had swapped into this s10. Is it a 4bt or the 6.2/6.5? and I really like the cantilever style suspension looks really trick. really cool little project truck.

  • @armorog

    Thank you.

It had a '94 6.5td with a 4L80E in this video, but I pulled them out last year and I am just about finished swapping in an '05 Duramax LLY and a 5 speed Allison 1000. I should have it were it will start within the next month, but there are still some odds and ends to finish up before it will be ready for the road again.

  • No its a 2wd stepside. im swtiching the body over to a blazer frame and a 4inch shakels drop with 37inch tires, front axel dana 44 and rear axel is dana 60

  • Did you have to move the firewall back? im currently trying to drop a 6.5td into my 2000 S10

  • @littlerig888

No, no firewall mode other than moving the column over, ditching the factory hvac, and changing to hydro-boost.

  • hey , where are you located? i'm very interested in coming to take alot at that lot lol

  • @x0jeffreyx0

NE Oklahoma, but most of them are gone now.

  • 4x4?

  • @Optipleex did you really ask that

  • what kind of diesal is in it (cumins duramax ) ????????

  • @gasjockey101

6.5 Detroit in the video, but I'm wrapping up the Duramax/Allison swap.

  • @DieselS10 wicked you got to do more vidos of this wicked pig

  • @gasjockey101

    Will do man.

I'll video it doing a big smoky burnout when I get that D-max started!

  • what year is it?

  • @thefart202

It goes alot like that Johnny Cash song, but it's technically an '85.

  • @DieselS10 I got it one peice at a time, but it didnt cost me a dime, youll know its me when i come through your town haha, awsome song

  • Nice work, coolest s-10 video i`ve seen yet, can`t wait to see the finished product.

  • @warbags

Thank you and neither can I!

I'm almost finished swapping in an '05 Duramax/Allison, then it's time for the paint and body work.

  • Nice truck! I love the sound of the diesel engine. It looks like it could be one of those monster trucks used to crawl, or even jump over wrecked cars.

  • @Seattlecarnut

Thank you, it may be capable of it, but I don't have the nads to try, lol.

  • nice work, truly nice work bet the modifications left no stone unturned.

  • Thank you and you pretty much nailed it.

  • Have you painted it?

  • No, not yet. Right now i'm in the big middle of swapping in an '05 LLY Duramax/Allison, but I'll get to the body work as soon as this little undertaking is finished.

  • post a vid of your progress im subscribed!

  • Will do.

  • A work of art!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you

  • look up a couple of other videos.

people have been putting v8s in s10s forever.

and as far as i know they fit just fine. it only gets complicated when you try to stuff a big block in.

  • A 6.5 Detroit is bigger than a big block.

  • ive done it myself elctric fan, special headers and motor mounts theres a few other mods are a must like exhaust and trans but really simple i think youd be right on the big block thing but the small block is surprisingly easy to fit in.

  • How did you fit that big v8 in there?! Did you cut up the fire wall to get that big beast in? i know the biggest you can stick in there was a V6.

  • I didn't change the firewall other than moving the steering column over 2-3 inches and removing the heater/ac box. I modified the p-side wheel well to clear the turbo, installed the hydro-boost brake booster to clear the valve cover, and I did a ton of work to get the over grown radiator nearly in front of the core support. I also built the bumper to house and protect the intercooler.

It's getting ready to get a D-max/Allison combo. It may be a little tighter fit. lol

  • got a 454 in my 86 s10 blazer with no frame mods, helps to have a 3 inch body lift so u can raise the engine a little higher. had to build custom headers since no one makes them. but u do run into alot of ppl who say its a wast and should have went with a small block. already had a 350 4 bolt in it before the big block. dont even need low range at the sand dunes

  • What kind of air shocks do u have, that thing is awesome, very very nice job

  • Thank you.

It has medium duty air bags front and rear. The shocks are just Edelbock Extreme Travel gas charged shocks.

  • was that a 6.5 turbo diesel?

  • Yep, but I bought a Duramax/Allison combo a few weeks ago that's going in there.

  • no shit ive always wanted to buy a 90's chevy 6.5 with a blown engine, pick up a wrecked duramax and make the swap..this truck is gonna be sweet with a duramax. keep us posted with vids on the progress man!

  • Will do!

  • Only one question;

    how do u get in/up?

  • Haha, check out my other vidoe of it, it is full air-ride so I can let it down and still manage to get in it. lol

  • suppose it may deter thieves, especially ones that are not very tall!!

    whats it corner like?

  • Slowly, lol

No, I have a sway bar from a Suburban up front and with it @ ride hieght it is surprisingly stable, probably due to the width.

  • what else do you have in the back yard there i notice some old trucks and cars is any of them for sale? Im mostly a GM guy but i do have a 56 international. but i do have friends that run other stuff. And by the way Great truck!

  • Unbelievable! That is some awsome engineering man. Show some picks of that engine setup. You need more and better tags. That thing diserves to be seen by everyone, and its kind of hiden.

  • Thank you for the compliments. It's still a work in progress, but I'll get it finished some day. I have recently decided to swap out the 6.5 for a Duramax, but it will probably be awhile. There is a lot of build info and pics on S10Forum in the 4wd SFA section in the "It's Alive " thread.

  • ok another idea. well i guess like yours, just use a high steer bracket on the passenger side and what do you think about the 4'' dropped pitman with a 12degree angle on the end with the heim joints?

  • That should work fine. I assume your running a 4-link/panhard front setup?

  • i am running a 4link/panhard front setup. where did you get your hysteer bracket? i cant seem to find one for a dana 44 chevy

  • I got mine at Poison Spider Customs.

  • cool thanks. i was going to either get the oru knuckle for 9-13'' of lift and then get a 4'' dropped pitman from bulletproof steering with a 12degree angle on it and use heim joints with high misalignment.

  • what did you do for steering? i have a 76 chevy that i put an air bag lift on it sits at 13'' and when inflated it sits around 23-26'' im looking for some info on doing cross over steering but havent heard much feed back. ive checked full hydraulic and its fucking expensive and i think that crossover will do just fine. any info will be greatly appreciated. and nice work on the lift :)

  • I have a '79 kingpin style Dana 60 with flat to knuckles that I installed a passenger side high-steer arm on. For the steering box side I built a 4" drop pitman that was long enough to turn the 60 from lock to lock. The drag-link is at a very safe acceptable streetable angle when the bags are maxxed, which is 22" over stock.

  • PM if I can help further.

  • what diesel motor is in there?

  • It's a 6.5L Detroit.

  • ya, thats what I thought it sounded like.

  • You have too much time and too much money.

  • I am curious as to why you did this build. I mean, I think it is a siick truck, but whi a diesel on an air ride? Rocks? Mud? Street?

  • It had a 350 with a 4 link coil front and leaf sprung rear before and it rock crawled and rode good, but it didn't pull or support a load well. So, I put the diesel in it for the load pulling and the mileage and I converted it to air ride and 1 tons so it could handle a loaded trailer AND ride good. I also boxed and trussed the frame. I built it to be an overly functional daily driven truck that rock crawls on the weekends. It will tow a trailer queen to the rocks, then follow it through them.

  • Sounds like one hell of a daily driver. Good job!!

  • im wanting to put a diesel into my 2wd 98. prolly just a cummins six though. what do you recommend?

  • To long and to heavy, but it would be very cool. The S10 frame & suspension would not like an 1100+lb engine and it would stick through the hood and into the cab badly. If I find a good deal on a 3.9 Cummins I will probably out it in there.

Look for a smaller 4 cylinder diesel, I have a Mitsubishi box truck with a 3.3 4 cylinder turbo diesel that will fit in a 2wd S10. It's 118hp stock and like all diesels, capable of much more. It would be plenty in a 2wd and get very good mileage.

  • do you know of any american engines that would fit? and what do you have in yours?

  • Mine is a 6.5L Detroit out of a '94 Chevy 1 Ton. I can't think of any Amreican made diesels that might fit into a 2wd S10. Even the Duramax is made by Isuzu. There may be some american made diesel tractors that you could use the engine from, but they are typically very low horsepower for there size.

  • do you still have that Mitsubishi?

  • Yes sir.

  • would you sell the engine?

  • lol nice

  • that thing is badass keep it for life man

  • That's what my wife is afraid of!

  • ahhh i was subscribed to this build thread on s10forum

    bad ass truck

  • Thanks man!
