@VicTheMouth It's most probably an emergency landing after having some problem. And hence the police and what looked like the fire department, was there, he had probably called in advance to the ATC to notify them of which road he was going to land at. If it weren't for that last truck having been parked that close to the road, it would surely have been a great landing. There's tons of footage of planes having to land on highways and roads here on youtube.

@VicTheMouth No worries, during the JAA pilot licenses, we get to train a lot in emergency situations. Getting to practice to simulate landing on roads, grassfields, icy lakes, farm fields and what not.

That first guy actually did eject, eight-tenths of a second before his plane impacted. he broke both of his legs, but survived. (that thing that was bouncing across the ground was the engine, which had ripped free of its mounts when the plane impacted.)

@lvsitiwdr This was a test flight being performed by Mcdonell Douglas engineers (there were only 3 people on board) the flight was to determine the maximum decent rate for normal approach procedures. However the captain decended too quickly and failed to arrest the decent rate prior to touch down. The result was the aircraft landing very heavily, puncturing all tyres and the empenage (aft of the pressure bulkhead) seperated from the fuselage. No one was injured.

I most sincerely hope all the folks who flew those planes were properly cared for post-ejection. All the pilots have my sincere sympathy. . . ejection seats are very violent on the spinal column. . . and brain stem.

They can land in water under engine thrust, he lost all engine power. Hence the ejection.

Harriers cannot land in water. They don't float. If a pilot were to put a harrier down in water, it would more or less destroy the aircraft. I'm sorry if you don't like the music.
