The Funk Doc's most under-appreciated album. Definitely a hip-hop classic, just had the misfortune of being released in 1994 & with him not being from New York with all the bias towards their rappers at the time.
Man i rememba when I used to have my tape player on my chest bumpin my head to this every night going to sleep. That's when shit was Real ill. Tape playas with auto flip lol. damn
there are plenty of hip hop albums that are underrated but cmon, dare iz a darkside is just some of the deepest and "deliriumest" music ive heard in my 17 years long life, as i don't talk english that good, i can't precisely describe what are my thoughts about this album...
i was born in 94.. ya i know young right (17) but anyways right when i came into this world i know for a fact i was bobbin my head to this shit. this is REAL.
I remember the first time I heard this song, when this album came out, my hair on my neck and stood the fuck up, red one of the best DOA, if u dont like it eat a dick, truly a head banger, this album is a must for any head, classic, I m gonna buy it again cuz it was so good it got stolen

extremley intelligent but out of his mind! sleepless nights, drugs, more pussy than he could possibly fuck! trust me,this is why he dont sound the same after there is a darkside, the fame and fortune went to his head,he said he dont want the fame but its his fame first and foremost that makes him who he is cuz fame means known,if you aint known then you aint doing shit with your life, its all abouyt whoo you know.he wouldnt get women if he wasnt known.
I wrote this on another vid already but I'll say it again... I call DARE IZ A DARKSEID Red's 27% album. Meaning its so dope, esoteric and inside, that only 27% of people who listened fully understood it, but for the rest of us who did, we recognize this as one of the greatest, most innovative hip hop albums ever made.
@5burowz I agree with you. His inspirations for this album was Lenny Kravitz, and psychological flicks like Jacob's Ladder and The Eyes of Laura Mars..Oh yeah, and good weed.
@mrwesdaddy This album was so weird, humorous and overall a sick album that was underrated in mainstream hip hop world but true hip hop fans know that this album was classic.
I heard it first in 94 when it dropped and I was going through some hardships then .. so i could def relate to it. Now I just need a fatty and put myself in that mind frame again
