I went to Bannack in 1998. It was in terrible need of mantenance back then. Some of the buildings were infested. I kid you not. It cost $4 admission and I kind of felt like I had been taken.
My family went to Bannack in 2007. AWESOME!!! I could still hear the miners working and the school kids romping thru town and the occasional gunshot. What a place.
If you go, be sure and pickup a brochure at the visitor's center, it'll guide you thru town.
I was most touched by the story of a mother watching her children sleep with frost on their sheets.
They were some tough ol' cusses.
If you go, please take care of it.
Stop by the cemetery outside of town on the way out.

As an employee of the caverns I am partial to it as a park... but I LOVE Bannack and I am happy this is getting done!
