First the OEMs are not taking the full advantage of the N280. The N280 supports 667 MHz FSB but the OEMs are still using the same old 553 MHz RAM

So this is the reason for the not much improving perfomance RAM should be FASTER AT 667 MHz

The Z550 is a 2 GHz Atom CPU.

All you can get from the Atom N260 to N280 is 1.6 GHZ, that's low. I'd like to have a 2.0GHZ netbook so that websites andd youtube don't get stuck every other time.

Bought this bad boy a day ago... coming in the post on Tuesday! Got it on amazon for £300, that was the cheapest I could've found. Looking forward to doing the touch screen mod on there as well, plus a ram and hard drive to ssd upgrade.

I have the Black version, it's really a great machine, one of the best netbooks atm. I get 8 hours easy while just doing office things. I payed 499,- euro for it and i spend 25 euro for a 2Gb DDR ram module (it works like a charm now). Great for watching movies, listening to Music, surfing the web but also for backup the photo's i make with my Canon Eos 450D (which also uses the SD card format). I think this would be a great netbook for pressphotographers who need to send pictures real fast.

yes it can play flash videos just not high definition videos well

For some reason it has more issues with Online HD videos. But Ive been able to watch High def avi files on it, with no hiccups at all.

Yes, ssd prices have been dropping alot.. but if you settle for smaller ssd you can get 32gb for 100 dollars..

10 inch version with ssd is almost the same as this, it looks 100% same but this one has better battyry.

If you ask me, get this 1000he and save a bit more and buy a really fast ssd for it later.

The US spoec 1000HE has a 10Gb SSD and a 160Gb h/d. In Australia we get a 160Gb HD and 10Gb "eee" online storage.

BTW, runs Ubuntu beautifully - only complaint is the keyboard has a rattle

Well, i think that HP 1000 has the best keyboard and it is more beautiful and more light. But is more expensive and the battery sucks! The 1000HE has a good keyboard and the best battery of all netbooks. And it has a very good price.

You could see too the HP 2140 that i think is a lot better than the HP 1000 and has a better battery and the same keyboard.

for me the smaller the better... with 8.9 inch screen.

900HA is good staring point but I prefer my 900a as it's a bit slimmer.. but i had to upgrade the ssd and mod it quite heavily...

What i'm really waiting is Eee T91 .. it will be great for mobile use but not that good for average use. ( only 1.33ghz cpu )
