@twohandtap Good points. True for the modern language, but Ancient Greeks pronounced upsilon differently: /u/... later /y/ as a main vowel but /w/ in diphthongs. /tau/ > /taw/ > /tav/ > /taf/, and there's your "ταφ"! (This video is for Ancient Greek with reconstructed pronunciation.)
your ypsilon is wrong: it' s written "ὓ ψιλὸν", not "ὔ ψιλὸν", Καταλαβαίνεις τι εννοώ

T is not pronounced as TAU but sounds as TAF. Upsilon is a letter that depending on the word sounds as F or V or EE .
