@TheTannerNicholson nothings more fun than a big V8. The problem with rotary is the lack of torque. Nothing more fun than slamming down the throttle and breaking the tires loose. Slam the throttle in a rotary and its almost like nothing happens.
@flagator2009 name one car from the late 80s that handles like an rx7, an american one at that and if its a turbo it can easily break the tires loose. ive got an 88 turbo rx7 i can break the tires loose easy not to mention its fun as shit in the corners.
@TheTannerNicholson I don't live in the 80's. I like rx-7's don't get me wrong, I always have. Any RWD sports car and I like it, but rotarys just lack the tq that I feel in love with when I bought my first LS powered car, if you havent driven one yet, try it. This hole "american cars cant turn" has been squashed many many years ago. As for production cars, the king of the nurburgring right now is the viper, and last year was the corvette.
@sidefexer Exactly, the rx7 V8 swap is a huge bang for the buck. You could duplicate my car for a little less than 10 grand the way it sat in the video. For twice that you could have a deadly fast car, one that would accelerate, turn and our brake 95% of cars on the road today.
@sidefexer yea but youll still have a pieced togather 20 year old car with no warranty, dated styling, ugly interior, no reliabilty the list goes on and on and on.
@randychandler1 Funny thing is we dyno'd a bone stock SS the other week here in Utah that hit 372 rwhp - even the dyno guy thought something was wrong cause he's always seen low 350's on the 20+ camaro's dyno'd. This was painted green lantern green - maybe that's it, lol. Maybe some can reach that number from the factory???
@DRTHVDR This was a bone stock camaro - no tuning or anything done to it. I know the vette's have a more efficiant drive train so their rwhp numbers are probably higher... It depends which dyno also, they can vary 20 hp from barnd to brand. This was on a dynojet 240 on an 85 deg F day fwiw
that was meant for @Lalann

None of you have put weight into the factors. Do the math. It doesn't take as much to go as fast.

V8 swaps are a waste of an rx7.

@Lalann Right... with the stock NA rotory hamster wheel this race would have been a total blow-out.

@383mazda ok all I know is the estimated hp for the camaro automatic is 400 and the manual is suppose to have 422
randychandler1 8 months ago
@randychandler1 yeah, who knows how accurate they rate these motors now-a-days...
383mazda 8 months ago
@randychandler1 thats at the crank... all companys get there numbers from the crank... take drivetrain loss into effect and you get 350-375hp...
Tj1056 7 months ago
@randychandler1
he said rwhp 436 for the manual ss is flywheel horsepower its about accurate cause could be a little less though
sk8er4287 8 months ago
I was expecting the rwhp to be higher. I've seen LS3s get 370-380 on a dyno. Therefore I felt the kill is more impressive.

2010 LS3 Stock Camaro has 355 wheel horsepower?
I don't think so.
DRTHVDR 9 months ago
@DRTHVDR We had just been to a dyno day event - I know so :)
And 426 - ~15% (for drivetrain loss) is 360. Are you thinking higher or lower?

@383mazda
I have seen LS3's with 370+ wheel horsepower. I was saying that your kill was all that more impressive.
A DIET is a must.
