I was reading the "history of the British people" and was led to investigate Samuel de Champlain after the chapters on colonization of Canada. I was so intrigued that I've bought a begun reading his biography, which in turn led me to his homeland of Saintonge. What admirable people they were, I continue to be fascinated. :)
Thanks for posting my family were exiled from this area in 1685 for being potestants my 8th Great Grandfather was born in Cognac his wife came from Taillebourg. Family names of Brousse and Cornu
