  • @Flankenberry @Flankenberry what a rational, level headed guy you sound like.

Still, the 2001 season is there for all to see. Carlton beat Essendon twice (and eventual premier Brisbane by 12 goals in what was their last loss of the year), its only natural they'd fix the draw by losing to Richmond one week, knowing they're fully capable of beating them the next.

By the way, Essendon were over the salary cap, too. They were fined and sanctioned for breaches 5 years before Carlton were.

  • LOL. CARLTON OVER THE SALARY CAP FOR 4 YEARS AND DIDN'T EVEN WIN A PREM. WEAK. Thanks for cheating though boys, without the drive this loss created in our players, our 2000 season wouldn't have been nearly as dominant.

  • @DrPepperAndSteak Fact remains you'd have beaten North the next week. You didn't beat us so you couldn't beat them.

You know an act of cheating a lot of people forget? When Essendon conspired to fix the finals draw in 2001. Going into round 22 ladder leading Essendon played 4th place Richmond. Carlton sat 5th knowing an Essendon win and a win of their own, would propel them into the 4 setting up a tantalising Qualifying Final.

Essendon lost that week, only to win by 10 goals the next.

  • you should see the two great golas he kicked in that same q'ter

  • He took Essendon to the cleaners on his own that day.
