I can get that way. Actually, my home office is that way a lot. But that's because I have so much stuff that is constantly coming in, I don't have time to organize it all! And I drives me nuts to see it, so I end up just stacking it until I have time to file and organize everything. But even the pile of undone stuff will bug the crap out of me!
OMG, I have the same thing. I can't stop rearranging my room. As for other things (checking, cleaning, etc), it's not as bad. But my rearranging habits get out of hand sometimes. My neighbor kicked me out of his house once because I couldn't leave his vases alone. I felt so bad. He sneered at me and called me "Monk". But then he apologized later and said he lost his temper.
I was trying to make sure the room was symmetrical. lol But I can't believe your neighbor got that upset. Geez. How many times did you move his vases? =O
I did it at least 4 times while he was talking to me. As I started the 5th time, he was like "That's enough!". But like I said, he apologized later. Nowadays, I have to deal with my coworkers. Half of them leave me alone, the other half intentionally misplace things so they can see me panic. Sigh. I guess there will always be a-holes.
I would have probably moved you away from the vase. lol. Watching that would have gotten ME anxious =/ But I know what you mean about things being in a specific spot. I used to be obsessed about it! Now I'm only like that about a few things. As I've gotten older, I don't seem to care as much. BUT, I HATE it when people don't put things back where they belong! Everything has a place. I expect to find it there when I want it O.o ... LOL
Thanks for sharing. Oh I wouldn't even think any of this was OCD if you didn't mention it. I also try different arrangements and positions of artwork. We're just finicky about art, huh! ;)
This is not really what most people consider OCD. But a friend of mine who's a therapist says that the obsessive, perfectionist stuff is technically just a very mild form of OCD. Nothing to really worry about, so I just laugh at myself ;-)
It's just a slight touch of it for me. I just get too focused on some things. I don't do the repetitive stuff. But I do struggle with anxiety. I guess it's probably all in the same ballpark. I'm sorry you suffer =(
well look at the bright side at least you didn't break out the paints and brushes :o) I watch my friend rearrange his medicine bottles for at least 30 minutes. I feel for him,me I'm just nuts......LOL :o) I'm totally disorganized..my cats love it though :o)
I'm actually a lot better than I used to be. Now, I've noticed that I get bad when I'm upset about something. I'll start cleaning and organizing like crazy. It's a sense of restoring order, even though it's not that thing that upset me in the 1st place. I guess it's better than turning to drugs or alcohol when I'm upset =D
lol reminds me of me. when i was working customer service at an outlet mall last year, when i wasnt allowed to do my coursework, i'd get tremendously bored, and would notice everything out of place. so i rearranged EVERYTHING. even the contents of the first aid kit. :D lol
Actually, there aren't that many holes. I just moved one up an inch and one, about two inches to the right. The building is new and whoever was in the office before me had nothing on the walls. Those bare walls have been driving me nuts!
My wifes mother once rearranged her bedroom while her husband was at work and when he came home he tried to be quiet and not wake her up. He didn't turn on the light so he snuck in and lay down on the bed but it wasn't there anymore! Whoom!
Actually, the call was unrelated to what I was doing. The irony was just too bizarre not to leave it in the video. When I left my house to go to my office, with my new mirror in my car, ready to be hung... as I passed through our garage, I noticed my husband had rearranged the shelves. AARRRGGGHHH! I had already told him not to touch any of my stuff!
Sooo... after taking out my frustration on my office decor, just as I'm climbing off the desk, guess who is calling me, all proud of himself for cleaning the garage?
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! its hilarious... the phone call.. tells us all we need to know.. "o u mean in rearranging my stuff and not telling me?" HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!
Yeah, my father has a real problem with me putting holes in the wall to hang pictures... Well, I am an artist... and you obviously know how artists are... anyway, I want to hang every picture of every thing every place... and HE CAN'T STAND IT! So, we were hanging 2 pictures in my room, and they were supposed to be level, but they were off about 1/4 of an inch and it KILLS me every day that I look at it! I just want to put up new pictures AND have them be level! IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?!? LOL!
Really? I never check that stuff, since it just disappears within a day or two anyway. And it doesn't show up on this screen, when I'm just checking the comments. I'll have to go look at it.
No. I bought a mirror to put on the wall in my office, but then it didn't look good where I wanted to put it. So I had to rearrange everything. Then I found another spot, 2 hours later.
Ah. So you had it bad? I don't do the repetitive things. I've had small bouts with that type of stuff, but it was always short-lived. I'm more about having to have things a certain way, and getting stuck on one specific way of doing things.
It was only bad in the beginning. I'd have violent thoughts in my head I wouldn't be able to get out- luckily I overcame that quickly :D
But every now and again I still get the "I need to have this a certain way, otherwise I can't sleep" sort of things. Haha, I hate it sometimes because I end up like moving things like 1/10 of an inch only to finally realize "I probably didn't need to do this" lol :D
I do the exact same thing when I'm bored :) My friends LOVE having me over, because I will literally shove them out of the house and clean/rearrange all their stuff. hehehe
shouldn't the one on the right be up a little higher...since the window is so long and skinny? It would draw the eye up a bit more. rofl (like I know so much about decorating, our aunt pretty much told us how to put everything when we moved into the apartment. She does interior decorating) lol
Don't do that to me! O_o No, actually, I'll post another video tomorrow and you'll get a better shot of the room when it's put together. I like the arrangement right now.
You're "Petite"? Me too, you have to walk on the furniture to reach everything, even climb up on the Countertops in the Kitchen. btw...We don't have OCD, we just know how we want things to look and will work and work and work and work to get them to look that way. ;)
You're so crazy. Walking on the desk and such. I'm the same way. I have to turn the lights on and off 5 times each night before I go to bed or the world will blow up. I also have to wash my hands obsessively 12 times a day. That's why you never see my hands in my videos. They're so red and swollen.
Wait. Are you serious? I don't do the repetitive stuff. I just get stuck on something and have to perfect it. Or, I'm currently obsessed with You Tube, my real estate blog site, and The Legend of Zelda. My mind is ALWAYS on one of those things, if I can't be actually doing them.
Not really. But when I'm super stressed I will catch myself counting things like light poles, cars...whatever. I also clean stuff obsessively some things but not everything. I'd say neurosis increases directly to the amount of stress I'm under. Right now, things are good, but I've had my moments.
I used to do the cleaning thing, but Fibromyalgia put a stop to that. So now I have You Tube, blogging and video games to take the place of cleaning. I think cleaning was more productive =/
