She is not against democracy or democratic principles. She is against the new idea of capitalized democracy which serves the interests of a select few. She does not need to provide the alternative for democracy because she is an activist who is defending democracy. Her intention is to show you the truth, and to teach you to accept that truth is bitter and painful, but you have to recognize it.

@venkash The idea is not finding alternative - which is dangerously sounding like overhauling and starting over everything from groundup. What Arundathi means is reforming, perfecting and fighting against those abusing democracy. Democracy doesn't mean holding election every five years, rather, it is giving voice to the people, rights back to the people and let people make their choices. When democracy and western capitalism collides, what would see is creation of corporate dictators.

It's as if everything works under the cover of "free trade" so anything is allowed except nothing is allowed to try to limit it, It does what it wants.

A 'global giant' country will occupy a smaller foreign region for a time and then pull out while granting the pretext of independence but underan agreement of maintaining certain conditions, such as the size of their military not to exceed a comparison and channels to remain open for 'free trade'. Durring the occupation certain structures are sut up in anticipation of foreign trade. These remain the business property of the invading entity. Same works with protections and alliances.
