Maxtor is a peice of shit, They always have noise D: I had 2 in 2 different towers they always make noise, Hell I actually have one on right now as I'm typing this message, It's a little silent but when I open stuff or when stuff loads it makes noise, I've heard more silent hard drives xD
When you take a look at RMA stats, Hitachi are first and Western Digital second.
Under 1% of RMA.
That's why i only buy Hitachi and Western Digital HD now.
I leaved Seagate since they bought Maxtor, because Seagate HD are becoming Maxtor...they are near 5% of RMA.
I'm not speaking about your or my HD, i'm speaking about millions of HD around the world : Maxtor are the worst ones you can get, and Seagate are just before.
hehe Ive got a pc with a Maxtor HDD, the disk is quite new, like 2009, but its health is already down to 78%, while my 2 years old Seagate is still on 98%
that is a Maxtor...instead of this you should do this 1.crap on it 2.throw it 3. smash it 4crap on it again 5. throw it in the garbage 6.get a new hdd
