A wonderful little movie with a lot of pathos, but a lot of heart as well. The ending is so bittersweet it makes you cry. Highly recommended.

The mother is Glynis Johns an English (Welsh Born) actress . . . you may know her as the mother in Mary Poppins. or the mermaid in Miranda. The last movie i saw her in she played the grandma in "While You Were Sleeping"

Being adopted, this movie just floored me when I saw it. I was in the navy and we always had a movie to see on board. Well, all these young tough dudes sat down to see it and by the middle of the movie there was total silence and by the end there was not a dry eye to be found. I have seen it a number of times since then and it always moves me. Sad? Profoundly, so. I do believe that was THE reason it was not a hit at the box office. However, it is a movie that was superbly done. Thanks.
