@pittielove well I have the s1800 and I can tell you that it's a fantastic camera and well priced where I got it! Honestly the only thing I would say is different is if you want more zoom like he said.

stay away from these series cameras,there are issues with many, just purchased a Sony DSC-HX7V from cruchfield for 229.99 (no tax / no s&h) very well made & best p&s camera i ever purchased,puts nikon to shame,consider the HX7V or HX9V or WX9 if you need less features,good luck to all and post feedback here if you buy SONY !

my advice is get the sony HX9V or HX7V - to many issues/problems with the nikon S9100 and appears nikon knows there are issues but does nothing,perhaps there is a defect with this camera based on the high number of complaints,good luck.

@esj4373:: I bought a NIKON 6100 and it was horrible. Pics were blurry and after a week, the shutter got stuck, which was many of the same problems when I read the reviews. Unfortunately, I read the reviews after I purchased it. I ended up returning it to the store and purchased a Canon Powershot 230HS.. Very happy with the Canon.

If you want to go for 300 plus dollars the SONY HX9V is the one to buy over the nikon S9100 see the problems with the S9100 on all the forums or amazon reviews

was deceiding on these 2 myself but just purchased the Canon 310 HS for 229.99 at best buy,they are the only ones who sell this model in black,for the money this 310 HS is hard to beat ! as for the nikon S 9100 i have been reading way to many reports of issues with the camera many of which are a freezing issue where the camera stops operating and all the camera reads is error,don`t expect nikon to come forward and state thus flaw,read the blogs and forums on the net and see these complaints

@MrCasti1995 According to the users manual, the only difference is the bitrate. 1080p* has a movie bitrate of 14mbps while the standard 1080p is 12mbps.

I got the camera a week ago and like its still image quality. But if someone takes it to a concert and shoots with the zoom fully extended, there will be problems with camera shake degrading image quality. But if you upload the video to youtube, you can use the youtube video editor to reduce the effects of camera shake.

I purchased this camera because I wanted compact hd video camera with big zoom. Something I could take to a concert and get some up close video. I don't expect the audio to be as great on a compact camera but the mic on the 9100 is just bad. The audio is much worse than my old Sony Cybershot compact W70. Maybe I need to play with the settings more because it does not seem to take great pictures either. My 7.2 mega pixel Sony takes better pictures.

Could this video review have been recorded by the Nikon Coolpix S9100 camera if you tried? What I'm saying is, does the S9100 record in good enough quality with video and sound to be able to have been used to record this video with the same quality or better?

@infosyncvideos in my opinion the Nikon S8100 just really suck ass in video and image quality,the colors were mostly over saturated,the exposure was all too white on the pics,video was very grainy.and i bet the this S9100 still has the problem of focusing noise when recording.Nikon is the worst brand i ever had and thats why i switched to Canon
