We went to Lomardi's, Oct 3, 2011, for pizza and it was terrible. The crust was flat like a saltine cracker and tastes similar. It had minimal sauce, basil and toppings. Dominos is better.

There is an Italian place Outside of Tucson, Arizona that has the best "New York" tasting pizza outside of Brooklyn. The name of the restaurant is called Vince's.  I asked the owner about his dough and sauce recipe and oddly enough, he told me he purchased it from a pizza restaurant going out of business in Toronto, Canada.

Yes, pizza was imported from Italy, just as the tomato was imported to Italy. America took the concept of pizza and made it its own. (Not saying pizza no longer is Italian.) It now is a very "American" food. Similar to the Japanese taking a Chinese dish and turning it into ramen, a very Japanese food. In America the 2 cities best known for pizza are New York and Chicago.
