i have a boerboel and they are extremely friendly and loving. They are guard dogs but they were bred with the best intentions. They were never bred for fighting they were basically bred to protect white south african farm children and animals. The only reason a boerboel wouldn't like its owner is it it was improperly bred or if the owner kept it locked up all day and never payed any attention to it. Boerboels need love and affection or else they will become depressed and angry.

my mom has a bullmmastiff male (67cm/57 kg)and wire-haired dachshund emale and they have a really big kennel, which can be divided into two (if one is ill), but they run around the property and insiide the house most of the time, with all-time access to their "home" (i.e kennel)! plus they take them every where with them and big teddy is such a big charmer, no thread to anyone!
i always had big dogs too, never any problems with them!
i have a south african boerboel and she IS a mastiff, the breed is also known as a south african mastiff and they are an aggressive, extrememly protective breed! they're bred in south africa to keep lions off farms and such. i love ours! she's beautiful

This dog is like most dogs Caesar works with, lonely and isolated. They usually live in a household where no one has a clue how dogs react to their body language and are doing the best they know how to make their "pack members" happy. Caesar's methods make it possible to make a dog co-operative and calm with no hitting, forcing or anger. He rules!

Man, you guys have to watch the episode to understand. She bought the dog from Boerboel breeders in South Africa as a guard dog [which is what the breed does]. She didn't get him just because he's cool-looking, she needed him to guard her house! The problem was he only warmed up to her trainer & was aggressive towards her. Eventually her trainer kept him though, so he's happier now. =)
Why is everybody so convinced this woman is abusive? She called Caesar in the first place to try to make it a happier, more balanced dog. As for the cage... look, we have our dog crate trained and it doesn't hurt him a bit. We leave the cage door open sometimes and he goes in by himself. He feels secure in his own little place. We have no behavior problems. And, from what it sounds like, the dog was dangerous so she made the safe choice to keep it confined.

i have a boerboel and they are extremely friendly and loving. They are guard dogs but they were bred with the best intentions. They were never bred for fighting they were basically bred to protect white south african farm children and animals. The only reason a boerboel wouldn't like its owner is it it was improperly bred or if the owner kept it locked up all day and never payed any attention to it. Boerboels need love and affection or else they will become depressed and angry.

Notice that there are stains on the stairs where urine has flowed down. Obviously, this guy has to do his business in his small enclosure. That's definitely not going to help. At the same time, she may have kept him in there for times other than when he sleeps BECAUSE of his behaviour. Maybe people shouldn't assume the worst.

Why the hell does she have dogs anyway? They are all in kennels, and she hasn't seen this dog in 3 years? She's a typical idiot who knows nothing about dogs, and she should have never got him. Boerboels must live inside with their families. They are not kennel dogs at all. They bond strongly with their humans, and their owners must research the breed and their needs. She might know how to sing, but she knows nothing about dogs at all. What a shame. He is a great dog!

my mom has a bullmmastiff male (67cm/57 kg)and wire-haired dachshund emale and they have a really big kennel, which can be divided into two (if one is ill), but they run around the property and insiide the house most of the time, with all-time access to their "home" (i.e kennel)! plus they take them every where with them and big teddy is such a big charmer, no thread to anyone!
i always had big dogs too, never any problems with them!

i have a south african boerboel and she IS a mastiff, the breed is also known as a south african mastiff and they are an aggressive, extrememly protective breed! they're bred in south africa to keep lions off farms and such. i love ours! she's beautiful

This dog is like most dogs Caesar works with, lonely and isolated. They usually live in a household where no one has a clue how dogs react to their body language and are doing the best they know how to make their "pack members" happy. Caesar's methods make it possible to make a dog co-operative and calm with no hitting, forcing or anger. He rules!

Man, you guys have to watch the episode to understand. She bought the dog from Boerboel breeders in South Africa as a guard dog [which is what the breed does]. She didn't get him just because he's cool-looking, she needed him to guard her house! The problem was he only warmed up to her trainer & was aggressive towards her. Eventually her trainer kept him though, so he's happier now. =)

Why is everybody so convinced this woman is abusive? She called Caesar in the first place to try to make it a happier, more balanced dog. As for the cage... look, we have our dog crate trained and it doesn't hurt him a bit. We leave the cage door open sometimes and he goes in by himself. He feels secure in his own little place. We have no behavior problems. And, from what it sounds like, the dog was dangerous so she made the safe choice to keep it confined.

Just realized the dog was given to its handler...GOOD! what a relief. That dog's sad face haunted me. And I hope it haunts Patti enough for her never to make this mistake again. Obviously her sense of guilt was what made her get Cesar over there in the first place. Hoping that beautiful dog is having an amazing life now, that's the bottom line.

Patti is a marvelous singer but please get her dog a new home. That beautiful mastiff deserves to be lounging with an owner in a house, not locked up in a concrete run. And if the mastiff is there strictly for security purposes Patti shouldn't care about connecting with the dog anyway.
Seemed to me by the dog's expression that it was extremely frustrated, lonely and bored. And this is what creates a problem dog more than anything else.

before you get a dog you MUST research the breed and see if your lifestyle can fit that dog.. REAL EXAMPLE: a girl form my town got a rottie...a few weeks later she had the rottie euthanized because she didn't have time or the discipline to keep it.. and it was still a pup!
that kind of stuff ticks me off.dont just get a dog because you think its "pretty" or "manly" or whatever.

First off, I have no ideal what you have watched and you don't have a clue what else I have commented on. I am black and I think that Flipboy is mixed. I would say the same thing about anyone buying a dog that is that big and strong, then hiring someone else to care for it, due to fear, regardless of race. Dogs don't fail, (people of any race) do.

What I thought was funny about the whole thing was that here is this uncontrollable, aggressive dog and when the woman took Nasir to Cesar's place in LA, they made stops. Well, one of the stops was Patti's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame - HELLO, if that dog was as bad as it was portrayed, who would take a dog to the Walk of Fame where there are tons of people???

As far as I know she doesn't own this dog anymore. Her old trainer, my friends coworker, has Nasir. My friend has met him/seen him and pet the dog so I'm not sure if he is as mean as Patti makes him out to be.

His methods don't work at all. He is an ignorant man who believes that all the dogs's problems can be addressed with violence and intimidation. He doesn't know anything about pyschology (dog or otherwise), learning theory, behavior, social hierarchies or biology.

LOL! I'm not gonna keep repeating myself but I'll say this one last time. The best thing someone can do when they realize that they've made a mistake is ask for help! Patti did that and she gave him to a loving family after he recovered! Ppl shoot their dogs,starve them,train them to be n dog fights and then set them loose in the streets to attack someone,while telling u to STFU if you mention how wrong they are!Those ppl don't ask for help and I'm personally more upset with ppl like that!

Obviously she knew she needed help so she called Ceasar...at least she had the decency to get help and give the dog away instead of just putting the dog down, which is what most people do!
