  • Jimmy Page played with this pedal!

  • Any type of 'hating' (as expressed here...and elsewhere)...is totally f**ked up! These 'haters' need to grow up...or change the channel (lol). It's that simple.

  • Twulv u'clawk.

  • Love the fact everyone hates this guy!

  • @petehawthorneuk lol and im sure all the people who hate him so much cant play half as good as him either haha

  • Nice demo.

  • Matt bellamy use this pedal. sounds good

  • why are people so nit picky about pedal reviewers

  • You suck !

  • I can't help but think this guy is probably a serial killer. That face he made during the tapping part at the end is all the proof I need.

  • Excellent demo (despite what some of these wankers say!).

I have one and love it.

  • I've never known what a phase pedal is.

    and now...

NEED IT, NEED IT, NEED IT!!!

  • I was wondering if you knew how to fix a sound blocking problem with the phase 90. I place my phase 90 after my distortion, but when I turn the phase 90 on it blocks the sound. It allows signal to pass through it, but won't work when i'm trying to record. It blocks sound when I turn it on. It does work when I playing through an amp though. Any help would be great, thanks.

  • being someone just starting out I'm glad you guys post these vids. As for all the jade virtuosos who toured so much and can't stand someone trying to help people like me. I'm glad I never met you. Of course I wouldn't due to the fact that your 39 and still living at home with mom and dad. Put your own vids up about how great you are or shut up.

  • Achilles Last Stand for the win!

  • ou yeah!

  • His face reminds me of a turtle.

  • "It doesn't have a whole lot of controls." One fucking knob smack dab in the middle of the pedal. Like we couldn't see that ourselves.

  • @notjustforfreaks because the name someone gave you when Gmail was invite only like 7 years ago is indicative of current tail magnetism. Your deductive reasoning is second to none, sir.

What would a person interested in synthesizers be doing watching videos about guitar gear? I guess if we can ignore guitar gods like Prince that make predominantly synth-driven music that you may have a point there.

Or maybe you could not take such a literal reading on everything you see on the internet.

  • @fonzmccool Stop trying to talk like your really smart, Basically it took you all day to compose that post. And i love how your example for a guitar god is prince. He has nothing on Eddie Van Halen,

  • thanks to you now i know that the phase 90 doesn't have a lot of controls, only one speed knob

  • am i the only one here who likes this guy

  • You want the closest thing to a real Phase 90 get the Whirlwind Orange box.. it's done by the original creator of the Phase 90... these MXR pedals are in name only and are of horrible quality.

  • I hate this guy so much.

  • 3:16 That was the highlight of his life. He was later hit by a bus.

  • @fonzmccool is mad because he can't tap.

  • My Spider Line 6 does this and alot more, love fonzmccool comment great man, djjiles true that about appreciating the blues!

  • hey the TV at the beggining has somthing of fallout 3 lol

  • @Aeroman1996 EVH has the added "script" channel...I was havin the same trouble deciding. the guy that does the demo for the EVH says the script slows it...i think it just gradually decays, like the regen slows not the whole phasing effect.

  • ''It's bright orange......and um......''

Typical guitarist knows shit all about technology

  • @fonzmccool Congrats! You're a douchebag.

  • Wow I would have never guessed that the pedal was bright orange... good thing he said it (:

  • Thank you Jay for your videos. This is one of my favorite pedals. It is good to use with distortion than the Boss PH3 in my opinion. But the PH3 is very good for Funk without distortion. If possible, buy both pedals because these are some really good pedals.

  • does it have full bypass when its off?

  • I HATE JASON SPENCER

  • Comment removed

  • damn tht tapping is legit

  • Here it is... it's bright orange *oh God, I'm so lonely! Can't get a girl, can't play anything but chords, not loved by anyone! Why was even I born!* umm... can't really miss it if it's on your pedal board...

  • idk why the fuck he always has to tell us what the color is, 1. that doesnt matter. 2. if it did, were not blind.

  • @fonzmccool

haha thats a horrible thing to say

  • @fonzmccool Haha you definitely don't have to be a virgin to tap that fast and well dude. Funny joke nonetheless.

  • I clicked on this video because I knew it would be hilarious from the other wms videos.

  • not sure what all the hate is about. good player, AWESOME pedal. im gonna pick this up some time soon for sure!

  • jason spencer, go to hell.

  • I really want one of these, but I will be plugging it into my Boss Flanger (a digital pedal) and I was told the Phase 90 is an analog pedal, so will this cause any problems? I probably won't ever use them (have them both on) at the same time, only one or the other (I like effects to be simple and feel too much is over kill), so I'm just wondering if it'll cause any problems or if it should be ok?

  • @atticushero You'll be fine. You can mix any guitar pedals together. The order that you put them in doesn't matter, as far as safety reasons. But, it does sometimes make a huge difference in sound. Test things out, and see what you like best.

  • jason spencer is so unattractive to look at

  • Hey is the MXR Phase 90 digitial or analog? I wanna put it before my Boss Flanger and Delay, which are digital, I was just wondering if thats a good idea or bad idea, lol...

  • Does the script version give a treble/gain boost to the signal like this one does?

  • What I'd really like to know: Is there any difference from this on to the mxr phase 90 '74 "vintage" one at all?

  • nerdy guitar players ftw

  • i love that kind of sound

  • yes there is a 9 V input.... you can se it is just under the input... in the vidio

  • Does this pedal have external 9VDC input ?

  • Yeah pretty subtle. Like your demo.

  • picked this baby up for 20 bucks brand spankin new on craigslist. ive fallin in love

  • I think Jason's best moment with WMS happens right here on this video. After 2:35 he kicks on the dirty channel and lights up the axe... I will be getting a Phase 90.

  • This company is trying.... but these demos are dull and boring.

  • check out the EHX small stone phaser its much better

  • agreed.

  • Lol, i like how this guy is a complete nerd, playin with an extreme metal set up, lol

  • @westcoastin6 metal is for nerds, lol

  • @tdr20o0

Or emo kids who hate their lives, bahaha.

  • haha, "its bright orange...[pause for some reason..]..can't miss if its on your pedal board"

wow, at least try to think of SOMETHING nice merlin, or else just dont say it

  • @NoiseMaker231 It's a demo for the pedal. It's meant to show what the pedal can do, not what the player can do.

  • I dont like you jason.

  • if u skip this boring stuff and goto the end it will show that makes u sound like evh

  • Let me play you a riff with the pedal bypassed. (plays a riff) - blah, blah, blah, blah, love the sound of my own voice, blah, blah, blah. (engages pedal and plays a totally different riff).

    Useless.

  • These demo's are so unbelievably dull...

I really like the demo's from PGS

  • not to mention that nasty drymouth noise he makes during EVERY pause...bleh!

  • @eflatnine he's strumming chords, not playing a "totally different riff." It's nearly the same. If you can't hear the phaser working you're just too opinionated to listen. Boss PH-3 anyway imo.

  • @greensleeves32 you're right. CHORDS, not RIFFS. so what? my point is that the demo sucks and he talks way too much for a product demo. My comment got 44 "likes" so plenty of people agree with me. Watch a couple of ProGuitarShop or Burgerman demos and then this one just seems like endless blabber. "Chords, not riffs".... irrelevant!

  • @greensleeves32 And yes, I CAN hear the phaser working. Again, so what? My point is that this style is a weak way to demonstrate what this pedal is capable of. More guitar playing. Less talking. Play a riff/chords sans pedal -> Turn pedal on -> Play the same riff/chords. Pedal Demo 101. Nice try, WorldMusicSupply employee :)

  • @eflatnine yea I feel ya. It's not the best demo and I like it better when they have the back to back comparisons too. I watch a lot of inet vids. And yes, he does talk and explain too much. No reason to get all butt hurt and hate hate hate tho. Im not an employee of any retail store. Just an audio engineer and musician deciding which phaser to buy for my turntable setup. Getting thumbed up by talking shit about someone's effort is lame imho. Be constructive, not destructive. Peace!

  • @greensleeves32 you're right. i appreciate what you're saying man. (in my defense, i'm pretty certain i've never left a negative comment for an individual. but i have high expectations for companies that are trying to sell stuff. it's hard not to compare, etc... but i hear ya)

  • you know you masturbate

  • per me questo è un coglione...tutti i pedali che prova suonano uguali...

  • Fantastico l'intarso sulla tastiera della chitarra! *_*

  • That was a ridiculous tapping lick ahah.

  • the script logo is so much better. the one with the LED and DC

  • woo im getting one of these on tuesday!

  • isn't that working the wrist ot the arm wanking though?

  • Hahahahahhaha that literally just made me laugh out loud. hahaaaa

  • how the fuck did he do tapping like that like im good at average tapping stuff but that was coolz

SOMEONE TELL ME HOW TO DO THAT

  • He sucks doing demos. Proguitarshopdemos are way lot better.

  • whys this guy have dry mouth in every video?

  • he is nervous i guess. haha

  • and can somebody tell me what scale he uses at 3:17? :P

  • this or the van halen phaser? :P does the evh phaser give you the real tone of the block and script versions?

  • I was thinking this is a pretty crap guitarist, but then at 3:00 he comes alive.

  • cartoonish! hehe!

  • whats the difference between phase and chorus? (sorry fro the stupid question)

  • phaser-otherworldly robotic sweeping sound(van halen's eruption)

chorus-swirly watery sound(metallica's one intro) but don't get those confused w/ flanger, flanger's a more refined phaser/ airplane taking off sound(van halen's unchained)

  • Phaser is more or a light, warm, sweeping sound, while chorus is more of a wet, (maybe even thinner) sound. They're both great effects, but depending on what you want to play, thats the kind you wanna get. Or just get one of each

  • some version of the phase 90, ehx small stone, or boss phase shifter?

  • not the phase shifter...i would say either a custom shop phase 90 with LED or the small stone. it depends on how much space you have on your board. but if you really want small stone tone, get the nano stone.

  • the nano sounds better? i heard theyre shit

  • You heard wrong man. The nano is amazing. It's still analog and the only differences between it and the original is that the original has a volume drop. The nano corrects that.

  • oh really sweett. if i were to get a phase 90 whats the difference between all the different versions?

  • well, the different versions are either made in a different time period, or reissued, which means, they can either have warmer or more classic tones, e.i. the script phase 90 one made in 74 and one reissued just in the past few years.

  • alrite i guess ill just demo both at guitar center to see which one i like

  • The basic phase90 is good, but it has a HUGE volume increase. Can be fixed with simple mods but just not my thing. Phase90 custom shop is better, but compared to the version without the LED, the rate is much slower. The phase90 without the LED isn't true bypass and has no 9v adaptor input, but has the best tone. DO NOT GET THE PHASE 100. Believe me, sounds totally different.

  • no quarter!

  • interesting^^

  • the depth can be adjusted from inside the pedal

  • why is this little thing so expensive?

  • Did you hear how bitchin it sounds?

  • haha i guess. lol

  • Why is nearly every demo of a pedal 'shredtastic'...

I want to hear them in line with delays and such, not grunting distortion :-/

  • take off that stupid ass boy band microphone. otherwise cool stuff.

  • Hey. I ordered one of these used from ebay and got it yesterday. It was almost brand new with everything still in the box, but the rubber sleeve was already on the knob, and I was wondering is it supposed to come off? if so how? Thanks in advance

  • It's on there so you can adjust the knob with your feet while you're playing. Extra tread. Not sure if you can take it off - sorry dude.

  • It's okay i just didnt know if it was supposed to ome off i dont really have a problem with it. thanks for replying.

  • ya you can take it off. its just on there to like he said to make it easier to adjust the knob. you can take the rubber. not the actual knob. lol.

  • how? when i pull it pulls the whole knob off

  • hold down the knob itself and then pull the rubber off when ur still holding onto the knob. i dont own one of these. i just know somehow.

  • sounds kinda like an envelope filter with chorus

  • i have a question... exists some way to control the signal level? 'cause in my set, the volume increase when i activate the Phase90...

    answer please! thanks! :)

  • Is it true bypass!? if someone could answer that would be great, thx

  • i dont think it is, although you can mod it to make it true bypass. but you really shouldnt worry about it being true bypass or not. most people say it will suck your tone and you'll sound like crap but its really not that true.

  • The phase 45 is true bypass for sure, I don't know about the Phase 90.

  • But the 74 Vintage Phase 90 is true bypass.

    (Replay to swedishfish319)

  • bma473 you know nothing. This is the only guy I have seen on You tube that doesn't cheat to improve the tone. Most pro distortion pedals totally suck without the use of an awesome overdriven tube amp. cough zvex cough

Good job Jason for the accurate examples.

  • You're not giving justice to the pedals Jason. A series of short licks with your blues and power chords bores me.

  • can u please everyone in under 4 minutes though? thats the question. Id be using this for more prog style stuff but at least i get to hear how prominent the effect is and how it affects the amp tone etc.

  • why all demos have blues licks? Do you guys never stopped to think that are people in the world who don't play/don't like blues?

  • Everyone should appreciate blues. Everyone else can go and listen to Miley Cyrus ;)

  • this guy isn't good blues, its lame metallic blues

  • I was talking generally dude. Read the post again.

  • still,, blues licks apply to more musical styles than if he played king crimson riffs

  • que gay yo le pongo una estrella es una mamada de chango

  • I have this, and when playing clean, if you hit the strings to hard, it gives you a horrible distortion sounds (unless you play very soft), but when playing with distortion, it sounds amazing.

  • nice amp!

  • that thing he played at 0:36 sounds like Starship Trooper by Yes

  • this guy has the worst tone

  • This pedal doesn't have many options.

  • i like his headset.

  • kewl

  • what does the effect loop do??

  • Nice guitar!!! what is it?

  • Schecter Some Demonic Name

  • HAAHAHAHAHAHAHA XD

  • Schecter Classic

  • is he using a distortion pedal or is that the amp?

  • i have the same amp! :P

  • I have A marshall stack!

  • jason spencer is the bane of my existence

  • Same here XD

  • jk lol

  • how is it possible to make such a great pedal sound that gay?

  • does this pedal have a volume controll?

  • nop, just one knob..speed

  • do you see one jackass

  • 3:17 =0

  • killer phaser

  • Does anyone notice a volume drop while active, I have the EVH phase 90 version, and I definitely notice a volume drop from off to on. Is it something specific to the mxr phase 90 models?

  • There's a mod for that. Cutting one leg of a resistor, I think. It's very easy to do.

  • this pedal rocks, it makes ur sound creamy

  • No it doesn't. It makes your sound completely phased out with no distinguishable guitar tone coming through.

  • what amp is he using?

  • JCM 2000 - DSL 401

  • I'm surprised at how ugly the overdriven tone on it's own is. Maybe it's the Shitckter guitar.

  • its not THAT bad

  • The only amps with built in effects are piece of shit line6 beginner amps for retards who can't play, like yourself.

  • i agree. but i like amps with heavy distortion so i can footswitch. hahaha i don't use distortion pedals though.

  • the only good sounding distortion is your amp's own! my opinion..

  • i like overdrive when its the amps natural overdrive.

  • i'm one of the retards who can't play and yeah, hes right, the FX of the amp suck

  • does it sound good with a bass??

  • yep.. it's for guitar, bass, keyboard and even vocals! great effect!

  • is the current phase 90 pure analog?
