I am at a complete loss for words and I know that no words I can say will be able to comfort you in these times. John was an amazing person with a great heart and I could never ask for a better friend. He was a son, a grandson, a husband, a father, and a friend to more people than one man should have. He will be dearly missed and your family has my deepest sympathies.
John Marzano may you rest in piece with the good lord up above! my prayers go out to your family! It just seems like yesterday you were in a mariners uniform playing in the king dome!
ps: does anybody have video of when John Marzano took down Paul O'Niel in the m's vs yanks in 1996?
johnny Marz I met you at Central High when I was trying out for the team. You had graduated years before and had gone onto bigger and better things. You still made me feel as though I was the best player in the MLB. The enthusiasium and class that you lived your life with touched so many people that you didn't even know; but you made them feel as though you did. I will miss everything about you.
my man johnny marz ill nev forget the day you walk into my shop with spanky you just retired and sold your house in arizona and was moving back to philly you ordered your speacialty chicken cutlet with broc rabe and sharp prov you told me that it was the best sandwich you had in years we been friends ever since and proud to say all my trophys say john marzano little leauge you were a inspiration to all of us gone to miss you o and also the ocasional drink at stokes love Domenic R.I.P
RIP good buddy. You left much too soon. You'll be sadly missed, I hope it was very fast and painless, you were a great man and brought alot of good to the philly sports fan and scene...Thanks for the memories...RIP Johnny Marz!!!
one of the first baseball games i ever saw was up at fenway in like 87'...johnny was catching. i told him about it at a phils game a few years ago(while he was working)... he knew the exact game i was talking about and talked to me about it for like 10 minutes...it was probably the last thing he needed to do...but thats just the kinda guy he was. Really sad to hear he's gone. Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.
R.I.P John Marzano. Your voice will be sorely missed on Phillies Post Game Live and on all of the other tv broadcasts u were on.Our prayers and thoughts go out to your family. The Good Die Young.May u be with all your loved ones now
What a horrible blow for sports fans and Philly fans in particular. It's not too often that I get truly upset over the passing of someone who I didn't know personally but Marz was one-of-kind. I loved his insightful baseball commentary but also his goofy, wacky antics. We lost a special guy. I'm sure he's having a catch with Whitey right now. RIP Marz :(
this really sucks...i really looked forward to johnny's point-of-views on the post game show for the phillies and of baseball in general...it comes as such a shock to me and my prayers are with his family...RIP Johnny Marz...you were a great person,a great baseball personality, a great baseball player,a great family guy,and i'm sure you will be deeply missed by everyone you worked with and by everyone who looked forward to seeing you on phillies post-game live and ppl who listened on the radio !
Im with you man. He always had the best input on the phillies games. I was also looking forward to this season watching him. His death was unexpected and simply a shock.
Johnny Marzano was a great personality and Philly guy besides being a baseball player. I always enjoyed his on-air commentary. I am compelled to write this as this is my first comment to a video. Comcast Sportsnets tribute video really great.
He was a great man that lived his life with pride and respect. When I found out this horrible news, I felt like someone in my own family had passed away. God Bless him for everything he did in his short, but sweet life.
This is really heart wrenching. He was way too young to be taken. He knew his baseball and it was a pleasure to listen to him speak passionately about the sport he loved. He will be missed by all Philadelphians who got a chance to watch him. RIP Johnny Marz. You will never be forgotten. Phillies baseball just won't be the same without you.
Since the age of 8, I've probably cried about 5 times. This was number 6 along with Comcast's tribute to him today. A great man and a true Philadelphian.
great guy
