An interesting mechanic, BUT (a big one too) we know how politics turns out to be...
People will abuse it, corrupt dudes running around giving votes for moneh, acolytes popularising one side and the people who will simply not care who's in charge as long as it is not bothering them too much. It's a game ofc and it is for fun and seems like a fun mechanic after all, however, this is all going to create shitstorms in the community.
Collecting votes as diplomacy or arena pvp as the path to this game's version of Archlord? Simplistic and dumbed down in the extreme. Cue random spam to 'join my guild and vote for me and I'll give you 1gp'.
@g0r3g4sm you don't know nothing, all MMORPGS base popularity in how many players you have killed , that's it, and many others have popular players from taking down epic bosses or having better gear o whatever. This is the same was lineage 2 in first chronicles, only it is improved in TERA. So , what theme park thing you see here if it is in all MMORPGs already :S
now im shure im not getting this game ... no offense but for me a player that just wants to make a small guild and raid endgame content with few friends ...this isnt really my thing ... iv played lineage 2 so i know how this shit gonna work out: biggest guilds will always prevail and thats not what im looking for
Only thing I expect from this system is lots and LOTS of drama. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Might not be a good idea for a company that wants to retain subscribers, unless they plan on going F2P eventually.
I hope that this is NOT the direction of MMOs. Too little power + most powerful fighter gets to be leader, not most competent + patently silly way of maintaining power = worthless position
@snotmaster0 If you're a complete dick as a leader, they can kick you out in 2 weeks when the next election starts. Remember that your constituents can also be dicks, so they'll end up kicking you out if they think you're a dick and you're not providing enough.
@yvese they're being toned down and censored for the western release, in the korean version, using spells generally causes female character's skirts to flutter realistically, that's being censored too since it's apparently too stimulating for the western market...
@Highstar25 That's by their choice not by ours... We are known for releasing some very adult games in America and they still don't get banned so I don't see why they do these things.
