Yep, it looked very green, even though it was Autumn when the pics were taken at Sherborne castle. Nunney castle's images were taken in the Summertime, with a wonderful blue sky.
You can see all the pics taken of these castles in my Webshots photo albums, from the link on my profile page; there is a more detailed history of both castles too.
I chose the music carefully to represent a real 17th century battle.
"...can just as easily be modern buildings of local & national government, should history ever be repeated". Why Sir, I trust you do not secretly warn of the possibility of a disaffected nation's massed pike and musket bringing down New Model Labour or Cameron's Ironsides? That, Sir, would be treason!
I would hang the dishonourable lot of them from Lamp posts. Brown had his kicking last week, at Crewe. If he fails to take notice, a popular revolt could be the result, if anyone has the guts which sadly seems to be lacking.
I won't say what I think of Bush, he deserves something more special than a lamp post ;)
All the police and army in the world could not defeat a disaffected population. It is not the British way now to take action like this, though I've heard it mentioned in some circles!
A certain Mr Caucescu learned to his cost the folly of pushing a people too far... The only worry is that the supposedly democratically-chosen replacements may in time themselves be seduced by power and become just as bad... Hanging from lamp-posts is far too kind by the way - I would humbly suggest crucifixion. As you say, however, we appear to have become a nation without BALLS. Wouldn't it be NICE to raise a standard somewhere pretty with good pubs, say, Tewkesbury or Evesham...
Excellent video - love the music (eat your heart out, Draughtsman's Contract!). I must have visited nigh on 50 castles in England and Wales but so far neither of these so your virtual tour is a treat. You also come across as really knowing your stuff without being a show-off. I like to think I'm reasonably clued up on our history nevertheless it's nice to have an expert on hand!
Actually I made a slight mistake with the video description :)
Nunney castle isn't Norman, but was built in the 14th century! But it was besieged by the Parliamentary army, which really bashed the walls about, which later collapsed. Stills can be seen on the Webshots link, on the profile page. All images used here are mine and taken from my on-line photo albums. Oliver Cromwell himself was present at the 2 week siege of Sherborne castle.
Cromwell was a vile heretic and the Lord hath blessed and elevated King Charles. Let the Restoration of his blessed son Charles II serve as a warning to all Puritans and other dissenters who would mask their vile heterodoxies and tyranny of the masses under the veneer of "enlightenment" and "democracy".
I am afraid that the opinion of the people and parliament would not describe Cromwell as a "heretic" rather that Charles was. He had a wife who was member of the hated Catholic faith. He talked peace whilst arranging for foreign armies to invade England; he bled the country dry through taxes. The website of the organisation you profess to belong to says that Charles was "canonized" by the Anglican church. The Anglican church canonizes nobody; the RC church does.
We did canonize Charles I, or rather his son did, upon the Restoration. It was the only time such a blessed measure was undertaken, but it did happen, otherwise the Society's yearly commemoration of his feast day and our originally seeking to have that feast day restored to the kalendar would indeed be a fond thing. No need for me to bandy historical perspectives on the rein of St. Charles. My opinions are my own. I maintain that your video was well made and the music first rate.
Cool!

Actually heretic means religious. Hieratic is from the same root?

Good music all the same, though.
