So IF a particular charitable act or playing-field-levelling based on merit is right, and some people are doing it voluntarily and others aren't, then REQUIRING them to do it by law is really evil? Surely Glenn Beck doesn't believe it's right in the first place, otherwise he wouldn't be this angry. So, is he an apologist for aristocracy?
@imissbubby That's like saying the law forces people to be non-violent, which, for decent people who wouldn't want to be violent anyway, it doesn't force in any way. So, those people who would want to be violent would feel "forced", and oppose such a law. We may oppose taxes, but requiring charity by law is not the worst thing in the world as Glenn Beck is claiming, because most people who are charitable would do it anyway and would not need attention from that law.
@TheNavigateur Youre wrong: MAKING us give money is called welfare; not charity. Wefare is forced. CHARITY is not. That's why we have two difference words; because the motives are different. It is the worst thing in the world because they are taking more of our freedoms away. Why does the government get to decide WHEN and WHAT welfare programs I need to support? I want to manage my own life and give money to whom and when I want to. Not when Big Brother tells me to.
@imissbubby No I said even if there were no taxes, you could still have a law that says you must give a certain amount to any good causes of your choice not government's choice. Then people who are truly charitable-in-mind would not feel "forced", only non-charitable-in-mind people would! The question is, should any right and wrong be enshrined in public policy/law? I say yes, to get best out of people. What do you say? The other question, are there ANY good causes to give money away to?
what is justice? what is injustice? I say its basis is either truths or Lies. Are you wise enough to decern what is a truth? Or do you need a guide? Take the time and pains to discover truth, which implies it is hidden. To ..."silence by whatever means necessary"... as one person put it, is to try to further hide a possible truth, let people speak thier mind. It give you reason to consider what is truth, or are you trying to hide what is true.
@imissbubby truth is coverd and discovered all the time a battle of truths and lies, that's why it's thought fine to be correct, one's reality can be based on a misguided premise or not true at all ( LIES) . covered or hidden, you have ears but don't hear, parables, mystery, the unknown all hidden truths that jesus himself came to uncover truths.
What a loser. He acts like he's about to soil his magic underpants at any moment.

I think you missed the point that FORCING people to be CHARITIBLE is an oxymoron.

Yes, we are wise enough to discern truth. Truth is not hidden; it is self evident. It corresponds with reality which is how we know its true.
