That strap holds the upper part of the neck around his upper body, the bottom clips to a belt loop or something like that, its supposedly to be a natural comfortable position for playing

this guy is sik. how is he not more famous? not many people did this at that time. one thing i dont get about stick is that the bass strings are above the trebles. doesn't take a genius to figure out that it will be awkward and the hands are likely to get in the strings' way. I guess u could always string it differently.
