  • This is completely amazing...But Im just wondering, why do conservatories focus on 4 mallet stuff so much? Its rarely used in symphonic works...

  • Nice job... definitely not an easy piece. Kudos.

  • @AoAPC ,

Thanks a lot. Its ridiculously hard. You should check out my friend Tomek Arnold playing it, he won the Paris marimba competition back in November. He nails it! I would have replied earlier but I don't check youtube very often. I like your arrangement of Radiohead. I sang and played Videotape on my last DMA recital a year ago. Love Radiohead. Congrats on the senior recital. What are you doing now?

    Take care, Matt

  • You really should consider shutting your eyes from time-to-time...It would sound more passionate that way ;-)

Excellent job! What mallets were you using?

  • @guntherlove54

Thanks for the compliment. As far as closing my eyes, Schwantner is a composer whose music I'd advise opened eyes for. Passion comes from inside. I love this piece and my heart, soul and blood are invested. I'm sorry if that wasn't clear to you.

The mallets are Encore three 42AYBs and a one 44 YB on the bottom.

    -Matt

  • @matthewawitten Matt, regarding my "shutting your eyes" comment, I was being completely sarcastic. Though I'm not a library of marimba marimba repertoire, I think if there was any piece that need 250% "eye"tension to the bars, it might be this one.

  • great performance!

  • Thank you!
