4 years on and i still watch this video, so many wonderful memories. The song fits perfectly with the video, especially with the first 10 seconds with Abelia's lines and then later when Giriadot raises his hand and the music picks up, so emotional at that point.
You really get inside the story because it's YOUR character... bad luck that I was also kinda worried that my data would be corrupted in any moment and maybe I wouldn't even finish the COTS.
Anyway, it was great! I whis I could play it more than once
This mode seriously deserves more credit and less bull. It was engaging. I liked the characters and the dialogue, which, strangely, absorbed me more than anything. Here's to thanking III for giving us this truly great little game-in-game.
chronicles doesnt get the respect it deserves, I was so completely immersed in the story because my character was the hero, Hell, ALL my characters were my squad, I had literally played my own RPG/RTS/fighter and I loved everysecond of it, when I defeated that obnoxious prince, I felt so great.
my custom was a demon with yellow eyes that weilded kilik's soul calibur, and then there was my 4 fav who wielded soul edge, that feeling of RP always adds the the level of fun in this kind of game, but strife is rlly hard, I'm still having trouble with him, anyone no an easy way of getting past him counterattacks, cause he blocks and retaliates all my attacks, even my grabs and supers
You could also try making the cadet a knight with Siegfried`s Soul Calibur, after all in the end appears the image of Soul Edge destroyed by Sieg`s Soul Calibur, the problem is that (in my case) i found difficult to use that style with the main character.
But maybe you didn`t understand me, I was talking about the victory pose for example the one you obtain by `pressing triangle, of course even if you don`t press it you have the cahcne to obtain that pose, in any case I think that during the battle you will use the first move you think is the best even if looks a little gay hehehe
to add to my last coment, the character may have died, but maybe his body was never found, and he went on to live his own life, instead of becoming the emperor of all the lands, which he was meant to become on his return
It`s a shame that only Luna, Abelia and the cadet appear in the ending, but chronicles is not the main plot of the game (Soul Calibur), so they really did a great job.
When I first played the game I found it quite difficult, but now I rarely lose even with against strife, I only use my main character which is a swrodmaster with the bonebreaker sword (I start using the first weapons and during the game I change them one for one), my favorite character is a craeted saint called Nina with the Scythe style, Actually I create a history for her that she is Strife`s sister, it`s really entertaining to do these things, that`s why I love this game
It`s great isn`t it, also i that way you created characters aren`t just nobody`s and you give more feeling to the gameplay, (and also I maked my favorite character "Nina"; Strife`s sister because in the end she will become the ruler of Grandall hehehehehehehehe)
Gosh, I really want to play COTS again. Unfortunately I have this disk reading error; everything I try to start it the disk spins around but COTS doesn't load!! Everything else runs fine... I don't get it. COTS worked absolutely fine before but on my slim PS2 just doesn't seem to. Anybody else having this problem?
the whole castle was on fire when you fought strife, so it probably collapsed on both of them, thats why it showed the soldier sending a message to abelia which appeared to be the news of the hero's body not being found, or he survived, but he left on a journey only the gods could tell of, and luna probably had a crush on that guy, or that was her son and she was sad of him leaving,
Luna either fell in love with you (If you were a male) or you became like sisters (If you were a female) When she heard the footsteps, she thought it was you (The Cadet) however, it was someone else coming back home to their loved one instead. That's why Luna was sad when she saw the man's face. So yes presumably you (The Cadet) are dead, or went off on a long journey. More likely you are dead as they erected a statue of you (The Cadet)
thank you, now it makes more sense, btw, to add to that, i think the main character's fighting style was meant to be the chinese blade, because it is the only male & female weapon style that wields soul calibur, so when i unlocked soul calibur after luna came into my army, i equiped it to my character, and at the end i had all of my sub characters go through the castle, leaving me and strife to fight one on one, my character with soul calibur and him with soul edge, made it a very epic battle.

yeah i hated strife....took me 10 times though...cause on the 10th time i had my 2 barbarions with the iron sword setting and the sword alondite(or however its spelt) and just kept spamming << b...guard break and damage
the easiest character for me is ivy because if u go next to an opponet and press L2 repeatedly they won't have a chance but i'm starting a new stroy for a custom character, what do you think is the most easiest weapons and impacted?

i thought he was easy to beat i used the soul of nightmare n kicked is ass the hardest person to beat was Giradot cause he was unable to be hurt or what ever that advantage he has on you like the 5th time you fight him that fight was bullshit
It is very easy to defeat anyone. All you need is an iron sword. Just keep hitting R2 and they will die. But watch out when you reach the edge of the arena because the'll dodge your attack and hit you.
god, this story is a whole lot better when u play through while wielding soul calibur (chinese blade) because your like the chosen one through the whole story, and it would seem like the reason that u beat luna is because her soul calibur was a fake, and at the end u fight strife and him wielding soul edge, it truly was a major battle
Luna had to be a pain in the ass but is an awesome character overall. I believe we had to fight her four or five times.
And at the end, I think it's clear that she and the OC for this mode became a couple. Funny, from enemies to rivals to a couple. Anyone else kind of find that funny?
Curious question, but is there a COTS ending of a female main user out here? I have a funny feeling the ending will be different if its a female character.
thats the son of luna and the main character, he's leaving because he found some1 to spend his life with, and the main character mysteriously went missing, the female ending is different, but iv never seen it
well, i wish we could unlock the blue-haired version of chester. i know that his moves have no change at all, but we gotta agree that's stylous XD
the only hard thing i found in the whole game mode was to defeat strife. i mean, when i discovered that he uses the soul edge, i've have a whole strategy in mind, for gain time as his life gauge decreases.
but then, the fight starts and.... WHAT? WHY IS HIS HP ESTABLE?! AND WHY MY ATTACKS CAUSE THAT LITTLE DAMAGE?

This is an awesome video, ArcanaKick! I really love it! The "Chronicles of the Sword" mode in Soul Calibur III is a terrific mode, and I've played through it three times with three different characters! Also, I just love all of the "Chronicles of the Sword" bonus characters! Abelia, Aurelia, Chester, Demuth, Girardot, Luna, and Strife! Even though they are all made with "Character Creation" parts, they still look very good, and best of all, they have their own unique fighting styles!
All of their weapons are unique, too! I wish they were all in Soul Calibur IV! But I digress. I love all of the "Chronicles of the Sword" cutscenes! Thanks for compiling them all into one video! I love the music in the background, and it goes along with the cutscenes very well! I wouldn't mind if you just showed the cutscenes, though. By the way, your created character looks awesome! I love the unique fighting styles for created characters in Soul Calibur 3. It's a shame that they didn't try that in 4, I really never liked SC4 as much as SC3.
I love them, too! They're all awesome! / Indeed, it is a real shame. The new bonus characters just use the fighting styles of some of the other main characters, which is just lazy! Oh, well. / I see. Well, I haven't played Soul Calibur IV yet, sadly, but I'm really going to miss the unique fighting styles of Soul Calibur III's bonus characters, ESPECIALLY the "Lance" one! Oh, well. I'll sure that I'll still enjoy Soul Calibur IV, nonetheless!

Nice edit with music. It almost seemed like a love story. I can beat strife with samurai discipline. Every AI's seem to always fall for the shoulder rush, then you follow it with an air throw. Useing it repeatedly usually does the trick, but, you'll have to distance yourself from their attack range.
nice armor and my data says it's corrupt -_-. i neeed help because my ppl in chronicles of the sword are awesome . (only corrupt data for c.o.t.s. everything else works )
the strategy is using other caracthers first to weak him down, then use youre main caracther to defeat him. I used characters with the rapier, soul of rafael, soul of seong mi-na and kunai (my main caracther's weapon)
the best or easiest way to bet him is to use a ninja or samurai and use sword and that overseized ninjastar, and keep doing the jump into the air and throw the star move
Thank you, but it is like no matter what I do he seems to pwn evry single charecter that I send against him. He has that nasty regeneration-skill and his sword hurts like hell....
I know mate, the thing is dont fight through the whole level, I mean don't go for battle, untill you get to strife. Even you loose you still get the level ups, do it until you are strong enough to beat him. Good luck ;)
Thank you, I actually defeated him today! I finally managed to find a foolprof technic- Aeneas: Left arrow+ L2, and then on and on- Strife was helpless, it was so great to finally see him die, that bastard!

By the way, here are some moves that are easily spammable and work just about every time, for anyone who needs them:
Tina / Kunai: f,F+K,K,K_F+K (or just f,F+4,4).
Meiga / Katana: f+B+K.
Eurydice / Iron Sword: A+B.
To combot8: Yes, I really hate that Strife kills Girardot! Girardot is one of my favorite bonus characters, and his weapon and fighting style are both awesome! (Sigh). Oh, well.
I used The fighting Style Soul of Cassandra. I'm really good with her. Xianghua is my best style but the job Dancer is not strong enough againts Ende. O_O
Ah, I see! Speaking of which, I'm planning on playing through it again using a female sage (Chinese Blade). Again, congratulations! I'm glad you're really good with Cassandra! I prefer Sophitia, but they're both great characters! / Cool! / I see. Well, I suppose it is possible if you fight against him enough times to figure out a strategy that works, but I wouldn't know. I've only played through it with a male pirate (Chinese Sword), female samurai (Katana), and male samurai (Katana & Shuriken).
I'm glad you love Sophitia, too! She's definitely one of the best Soul Calibur females! / Really? Cool! I use Sophitia better, too! / Yes, she does have a great number of moves that often come in handy! / Impressive! / Indeed! They're much higher than mine! I only play through it once with each of my characters, so they only reach Level 65+. I'll try to promote them all when I have the time. / You're not the only one! I play it a lot, too! It's extremely addictive and very fun to play! (Smiles).
The key to defeating Ende is to somehow knock him out of the arena with a "Ring Out". You should also use some moves like A,A and B,B for some quick damaging moves. Plus, try to use strong and quick moves after blocking one of his moves (like something that starts with f,F). That's how I usually fight him. Yes, Ende is a very challenging opponent, but he isn't undefeatable. It took me a while to defeat him with my male samurai, using the "Katana & Shuriken" style, but I finally managed to do it!
Yes, I hate Ende, too! I have nothing against Arthur and the "Katana" fighting style, but Ende is just plain annoying, especially when he just keeps grabbing and throwing me to the ground multiple times before I have a chance to either get up and strike back or break the throw / grab. That's so cheap! But, at least I feel great when I finally do manage to defeat him! Aside from a few cheap fighters, like Ende and Hyle (in Chronicle 10), "Chronicles of the Sword" is a terrific mode!
I hate it, too! It's the worst kind of loss to take! / Yes, that's true, but I always start a different game altogether after completing it, with a different character. I usually take on every opponent with my created character, unless I have no other choice, and even then, Hyle's tough. He takes very little damage from attacks, and he blocks pretty much everything I throw at him! He's not undefeatable, though. Strangely, Demuth, who is in the same stronghold as Hyle, is very easy to defeat!
You mean out of all of the "Chronicles of the Sword" bonus characters? Well, that's cool! Luna is a great character, after all!
My favorite two "Chronicles of the Sword" bonus characters are:
Chester (Male) (Dagger) (Kingslayer).
Aurelia (Female) (Sickle) (Black Widow).
I really love their fighting styles and weapons!
I really wish that they had brought all of the bonus characters back in Soul Calibur IV! They do all have their own unique fighting styles and weapons, after all!
If anyone wants to know, find a move that fits you and spam it over and over. That's how to beat Strife and the Ressentiment. And go right, THEN left. Make your characters go one at a time, and run through them all. It makes it easier. Leave your guy last.
I am on chronicle 19 and my highest fighter is level 46. Why is he so low? I beat everyone so far(including standard characters) and how does everyone else that commented have like level 70's?
if anybody is reading this i finally found out an easy way to beat Strife. Train all of your characters to lv.70 or above and equip them witha weapon that breaks their guard and/or demages them when they are blocking send everybody but ur leader and as usual take the path with enemies with the least life then everyone will get to strife and most likely u should win.
P.S. U NEED TO KNOW HOW TO GUARD IMPACT OR U WILL KEEP ON LOOOOSSSSIIIIINNNNNGGGG!
Lol, I can help you GET to Strife but as for me, BEATING HIM is kinda impossible. As for getting to Strife, make all your unit types Infantry and engage in battle on the field map (not 1v1). Get all 5 people to gang up on him, with people taking turns tanking (taking damage) with people with highest HP first and low HP and your captain last. I did this and I got all 5 characters to the last boss... only to be brutally slaughtered =D All I can say is... get all ur dudes to level 99, then fight xD
Just in case I wasn't clear enough, DO NOT ENTER DUEL WITH ENEMIES! YOU WILL GET BRUTALLY RAPED UNLESS U HAVE DA SKILL OF A SOUL CALIBUR NO LIFE! Just get all your units to move to enemy, and that engages into field map battle where you drain each other's health really slowly. Do this with all your guys, doing all the things I mentioned earlier, and take the path where enemies have the least health and you can make it to Strife no problem. Beating that crazy mofo is the real problem =P

Beating strife and his units is easy if you spam that Samurai Tackle move on your samurai character. The computers almost never see it coming, and can get you easy victories against strife's lame henchmen.
As for Strife, use the same tactic. Strife is hard, but not impossible. Hope this helped.
you just gotta avoid gettin hit and your good.you must be using a swordmaster,because even at level 20 they have comparable stats to those other character classes at level 40-50.swordmasters are only good for chronicles of the sword.however,those high stats doesn't apply to other game modes.

I don't know how Strife managed to obtain Soul Edge, either. It baffles me. Also, in addition to that, how did Luna manage to obtain Soul Calibur? I believe they just have these weapons in order to make them more challenging opponents, even if it makes no sense how they obtained them.

The A+B,K usually works but you have to time it right or f,f, K,K,K
or the D, A+B

It is very easy to defeat anyone. All you need is an iron sword. Just keep hitting R2 and they will die. But watch out when you reach the edge of the arena because the'll dodge your attack and hit you.

god, this story is a whole lot better when u play through while wielding soul calibur (chinese blade) because your like the chosen one through the whole story, and it would seem like the reason that u beat luna is because her soul calibur was a fake, and at the end u fight strife and him wielding soul edge, it truly was a major battle

Luna had to be a pain in the ass but is an awesome character overall. I believe we had to fight her four or five times.
And at the end, I think it's clear that she and the OC for this mode became a couple. Funny, from enemies to rivals to a couple. Anyone else kind of find that funny?

well, i wish we could unlock the blue-haired version of chester. i know that his moves have no change at all, but we gotta agree that's stylous XD
the only hard thing i found in the whole game mode was to defeat strife. i mean, when i discovered that he uses the soul edge, i've have a whole strategy in mind, for gain time as his life gauge decreases.
but then, the fight starts and.... WHAT? WHY IS HIS HP ESTABLE?! AND WHY MY ATTACKS CAUSE THAT LITTLE DAMAGE?

This is an awesome video, ArcanaKick! I really love it! The "Chronicles of the Sword" mode in Soul Calibur III is a terrific mode, and I've played through it three times with three different characters! Also, I just love all of the "Chronicles of the Sword" bonus characters! Abelia, Aurelia, Chester, Demuth, Girardot, Luna, and Strife! Even though they are all made with "Character Creation" parts, they still look very good, and best of all, they have their own unique fighting styles!

All of their weapons are unique, too! I wish they were all in Soul Calibur IV! But I digress. I love all of the "Chronicles of the Sword" cutscenes! Thanks for compiling them all into one video! I love the music in the background, and it goes along with the cutscenes very well! I wouldn't mind if you just showed the cutscenes, though. By the way, your created character looks awesome! I love the unique fighting styles for created characters in Soul Calibur 3. It's a shame that they didn't try that in 4, I really never liked SC4 as much as SC3.

I love them, too! They're all awesome! / Indeed, it is a real shame. The new bonus characters just use the fighting styles of some of the other main characters, which is just lazy! Oh, well. / I see. Well, I haven't played Soul Calibur IV yet, sadly, but I'm really going to miss the unique fighting styles of Soul Calibur III's bonus characters, ESPECIALLY the "Lance" one! Oh, well. I'll sure that I'll still enjoy Soul Calibur IV, nonetheless!

Nice edit with music. It almost seemed like a love story. I can beat strife with samurai discipline. Every AI's seem to always fall for the shoulder rush, then you follow it with an air throw. Useing it repeatedly usually does the trick, but, you'll have to distance yourself from their attack range.

the strategy is using other caracthers first to weak him down, then use youre main caracther to defeat him. I used characters with the rapier, soul of rafael, soul of seong mi-na and kunai (my main caracther's weapon)

the best or easiest way to bet him is to use a ninja or samurai and use sword and that overseized ninjastar, and keep doing the jump into the air and throw the star move

I know mate, the thing is dont fight through the whole level, I mean don't go for battle, untill you get to strife. Even you loose you still get the level ups, do it until you are strong enough to beat him. Good luck ;)

By the way, here are some moves that are easily spammable and work just about every time, for anyone who needs them:
Tina / Kunai: f,F+K,K,K_F+K (or just f,F+4,4).
Meiga / Katana: f+B+K.
Eurydice / Iron Sword: A+B.
To combot8: Yes, I really hate that Strife kills Girardot! Girardot is one of my favorite bonus characters, and his weapon and fighting style are both awesome! (Sigh). Oh, well.

I used The fighting Style Soul of Cassandra. I'm really good with her. Xianghua is my best style but the job Dancer is not strong enough againts Ende. O_O

Ah, I see! Speaking of which, I'm planning on playing through it again using a female sage (Chinese Blade). Again, congratulations! I'm glad you're really good with Cassandra! I prefer Sophitia, but they're both great characters! / Cool! / I see. Well, I suppose it is possible if you fight against him enough times to figure out a strategy that works, but I wouldn't know. I've only played through it with a male pirate (Chinese Sword), female samurai (Katana), and male samurai (Katana & Shuriken).

Katrina (Sword Master/rapier) Lv. 99
Alminna (Sage/Soul of Sophitia) Lv. 84
Luciulle (Sage/Soul of Cassandra) Lv. 88
I know they're pretty high levels. O_O I play CoTS alot. xD

I use Sophitia better, too! / Yes, she does have a great number of moves that often come in handy! / Impressive! / Indeed! They're much higher than mine! I only play through it once with each of my characters, so they only reach Level 65+. I'll try to promote them all when I have the time. / You're not the only one! I play it a lot, too! It's extremely addictive and very fun to play! (Smiles).

The key to defeating Ende is to somehow knock him out of the arena with a "Ring Out". You should also use some moves like A,A and B,B for some quick damaging moves. Plus, try to use strong and quick moves after blocking one of his moves (like something that starts with f,F). That's how I usually fight him. Yes, Ende is a very challenging opponent, but he isn't undefeatable. It took me a while to defeat him with my male samurai, using the "Katana & Shuriken" style, but I finally managed to do it!

Yes, I hate Ende, too! I have nothing against Arthur and the "Katana" fighting style, but Ende is just plain annoying, especially when he just keeps grabbing and throwing me to the ground multiple times before I have a chance to either get up and strike back or break the throw / grab. That's so cheap! But, at least I feel great when I finally do manage to defeat him! Aside from a few cheap fighters, like Ende and Hyle (in Chronicle 10), "Chronicles of the Sword" is a terrific mode!

I hate it, too! It's the worst kind of loss to take! / Yes, that's true, but I always start a different game altogether after completing it, with a different character. I usually take on every opponent with my created character, unless I have no other choice, and even then, Hyle's tough. He takes very little damage from attacks, and he blocks pretty much everything I throw at him! He's not undefeatable, though. Strangely, Demuth, who is in the same stronghold as Hyle, is very easy to defeat!

Chester (Male) (Dagger) (Kingslayer).
Aurelia (Female) (Sickle) (Black Widow).
I really love their fighting styles and weapons!
I really wish that they had brought all of the bonus characters back in Soul Calibur IV! They do all have their own unique fighting styles and weapons, after all!

If anyone wants to know, find a move that fits you and spam it over and over. That's how to beat Strife and the Ressentiment. And go right, THEN left. Make your characters go one at a time, and run through them all. It makes it easier. Leave your guy last.

if anybody is reading this i finally found out an easy way to beat Strife. Train all of your characters to lv.70 or above and equip them witha weapon that breaks their guard and/or demages them when they are blocking send everybody but ur leader and as usual take the path with enemies with the least life then everyone will get to strife and most likely u should win.
P.S. U NEED TO KNOW HOW TO GUARD IMPACT OR U WILL KEEP ON LOOOOSSSSIIIIINNNNNGGGG!

Lol, I can help you GET to Strife but as for me, BEATING HIM is kinda impossible. As for getting to Strife, make all your unit types Infantry and engage in battle on the field map (not 1v1). Get all 5 people to gang up on him, with people taking turns tanking (taking damage) with people with highest HP first and low HP and your captain last. I did this and I got all 5 characters to the last boss... only to be brutally slaughtered =D All I can say is... get all ur dudes to level 99, then fight xD

Just in case I wasn't clear enough, DO NOT ENTER DUEL WITH ENEMIES! YOU WILL GET BRUTALLY RAPED UNLESS U HAVE DA SKILL OF A SOUL CALIBUR NO LIFE! Just get all your units to move to enemy, and that engages into field map battle where you drain each other's health really slowly. Do this with all your guys, doing all the things I mentioned earlier, and take the path where enemies have the least health and you can make it to Strife no problem. Beating that crazy mofo is the real problem =P

Beating strife and his units is easy if you spam that Samurai Tackle move on your samurai character. The computers almost never see it coming, and can get you easy victories against strife's lame henchmen.
As for Strife, use the same tactic. Strife is hard, but not impossible. Hope this helped.
(I already beat strife twice, and I'm level 80)

you just gotta avoid gettin hit and your good.you must be using a swordmaster,because even at level 20 they have comparable stats to those other character classes at level 40-50.swordmasters are only good for chronicles of the sword.however,those high stats doesn't apply to other game modes.

I don't know how Strife managed to obtain Soul Edge, either. It baffles me. Also, in addition to that, how did Luna manage to obtain Soul Calibur? I believe they just have these weapons in order to make them more challenging opponents, even if it makes no sense how they obtained them.
