i'm betting ALL the "officials" of EVERY "church", "temple", etc., already knew as much about the cosmos as any people could during their respective times - but they kept all their knowledge of astronomy hidden from the people at large be cause they wanted to keep them in the dark for their own greedy, political and just plain evil purposes. there ain't much in regards to the cosmos they didn't already know that scientists of every age came to discover. superstition has to go.
