@Deaddrummers about 800-900 horsepower. the motors and transmissions where built VERY strong. the rear end though will not handle much drag racing without some serious upgrades

I'm looking to buy a used '03-04' Cobra in the future, I'd like it to be as much stock as possible, it's pretty hard to find one without stuff done to it though. I had a 01' Mustang Bullitt that was all stock and never had any problems with it, I'm worried that if I buy a Cobra with all those aftermarket parts, that it might not last that long.

@jamesstevick2010 it comes with the T56 transmission which do have a high 6th gear. I doubt its anything as bad as they put in the vettes though. :)

@Xarmy187 it's the same transmission that comes in the Viper... Rated to handle 1000hp as is. I own a 2004 Whippled Cobra. So yeah, I'd say it's "as bad" in terms of "good" as anything the Vette has in it. Very solid tranny. 6th gear is tall, like .55 ratio. I can only get an extra1000 rpm on a top speed run vs 5th gear. No where near redline even with 650+ whp.

im not sure of the mod's to the cobra. It makes just over 650hp at our elevation of 5400ft above sea level here in colorado, so which ever makes more power, it probably has, haha

yes, the air is less dense, so it has less oxygen.

thats why most guys that are after power go after turbo's or nitrous, it helps overcome the altitude.
