Dude you did the best demo of unplugging the IPod case I would tell my friends to indeed have a look at this clip and yes heres your Thumbs up THUMBS UP times a 1000000 .... Lol
I have an older gen (thicker double platter 160gb ipod classic) and the hard drive died. I got a replacement drive for it BUT it's one of the newer thinner single platter hard drives (160gb). Will a newer style flex cable attach to my older thick style ipod classic motherboard and use the thinner ipod hard drive?
hey how would i replace the 30 pin dock connector and do you know if it will work if i put the connector from a 2nd gen ipod video (the thin one that came in white and black) onto my ipod classic 160gb. Thanks!
Thank you. Clear explanation, step by step. It's also nice that you show what you do instead of only explaining it. I was able to open my iPod Classic 160GB thanks to this video. I ordered the opening toolset, but was unable to open it with that, the iPod was closed to tight as you explained. Knives worked great.
I would like to add something that worked for me, which was shoving a small screwdriver into the side first to loosen it up a bit. With the exception of that I did exactly this. Thanks
DO NOT try this with a box cutter. You don't want to know what this iPod does to a box cutter. Basically, the box cutter lost and I give up. To the garbage with you, crappy Apple product that still hasn't dried from the rainstorm that was two months ago despite hardly being wet because you were in my backpack!
Where did you get thoses knives from ?...the one I tried to use the blade kept braking and I still have not been able to open my iPod Classic in the past two months..I have the new battery and have not been able to install it...like you said the first time opening is difficult because i have not been able to get anything in between to even start opening...I think the proper type of tool is important
this is the most detailed 6th generation front plate and back plate disassembly i have seen. i wish i had seen this earlier as i had already made a scratch on my ipod.
Thank you so much. This very clear walk through helped my through my first 6th gen disassemble. Before I got to this vid I was ready to throw it at the wall, and I had already chipped off a lot of the paint on the side of the black faceplate, lol. Thanks again!
Yes, once you get it open, you can access the headphone jack. Likely the screws came loose and just need to be screwed back in. I can ship you a complete tested jack assembly for $12 if you need one.

Guitar picks work best and leave no signs of opening.

No, you can not replace the USB dock connector. But you can clean it with 100% alcohol and a toothbrush. Back and forth gently about 50 times.

...
(My headphones broke inside the port, and the tip of the jack is at the very bottom of the port.
Q: If I open the ipod, can I push that piece out of the earphones port or that's inaccessible?)
