the first Silent Hill seemed to be the most atmosheric and great at setting up a deep fear. All the other game soundtracks in the series became diluted along the way. Once you had singing and vocals it was over. Dont get me wrong ,if you listen the actual in game music for the rest of the games its also hits adeep vein,but nothing like the first game.

I still rate the SH2 sound track either on par, or more likely better than SH1's sound tracks, but I'm talking about vibes, not scare factor music (Although you cant say Black Fairy isn't fucking scary LOL). I hate vocals in a lot of music myself though, but for me, its still Silent Hill 2. I'll never forget the Nightclub, the Bowling Alley, the Opening Toilet Scene, Laura Plays the Piano, and so many more absolutely beautiful pieces of music. Fitting the game perfectly!

The number is actually symbolic. Besides the fact its signifying the change to Alternate Silent Hill, the reason they gave the hospital the 4th floor is because in Japan and other asian countries like China, the number 4 is said to signify death. They actually try to avoid the number 4 when possible because of the superstitious nature of the country, such as actually removing the number 4 altogether in elevators (sound familiar?) There is literally no 4th or 14th floor.

Yeah, in the original Korean version of the movie Shutter (yea we ripped that off too) there is a scene in the apartment where a guy is running downstairs but realizes its a never ending stairwell, and after he hits the 4th floor, every floor he reaches after wards is 4.

@yhetti64 Kind of, but the number 4 is more symbolic in Japan because it sounds so much like the word "death" in Japanese and they actually go so far as to do things like remove the number 4 from elevators in public places, so you can go into one and sometimes you won't even see a fourth floor. Japanese are known to be afraid of ghosts and spirits, and can be way more superstitious than Americans.

I have a few stories on this game. I got used to playing it at night, then one morning around 2 AM I was in the school with the room that had 3 phones. I went through the cutscene that plays when you try to leave the room. When the phone rang in the game, the phone rang at my house AT THE SAME TIME. I went to pick the phone up and it was nothing but beeping, like in the game. I mean coincidence, more than likely. But this game doesn't seem very ordinary.

Next one is about as strange, it was during the day. I was standing in the room with the two pictures on the wall in the Nowhere stage, the ones you use the camera on. I left it idle, and the music loops continuously. A few minutes later, the music took a strange loop. Instead of the normal loop, it went into a beat that sounded like a violin at first, then like a church bell. Then it went back to normal, and it never did that again in all the time I've played it.

I seriously think the developers of this game had some really fucked up nightmares to come up with the music for this game.
