  • i did both stuff but all around the picture it doesnt not look nice especially when it comes to the hair i put a pic in a black background and i can see white bits with the hair :| do u know anyway of like blending the image with thebackground?

  • @JetPr0ducti0ns I suggest the refine edges tool.

  • Thank you so much for uploading these videos.

I think your videos are very informative and really easy to understand, not many photoshop 'teachers' on youtube can claim that trait. So well done and Kudos to you buddy :))

  • NICE VID DUDE...WHAT FONT IS THAT?

  • @xAP500x Myriad Pro

  • hеllo. thanks for the tutorial. not sure if it's the right place to ask but what if it gives me the crop function not available, can i use something else to crop my image, it's a very simple operation cuz i need only to crop a part of my work-list. thanks in advance :)]

  • @Atanasii18 the crop tool should be available, but it might be hidden under the slice tool.

  • thank you

  • Hey, I've been using the 1st option a lot lately and I accidentally pressed something... i dont know what though T_T but uhh for some reason when i put the layer mask on, I cant delete anything using the brush tool. please help D:

  • @GreenPuddy make sure you have the layer mask selected in the layer palette. If that's not the problem, I am not sure what is.

  • what x tool?

  • @RaahRay sorry, I mis-spoke. I mean the "X" letter key on your keyboard.

  • @ConnorCrosbyPrdctns Np, and hey thanks alot! I just learned my first photoshop lesson.

  • how do you make the background into a layer??

  • @SnowKitty33 double clicking on the layer and pressing okay in the popup window.

  • Now, how do I add my wanted background to the picture? Cuz I wanna add my picture to the beginning of a video.

  • @VitalHC simply open the picture you want to use as the background and then click and drag the "cropped image" over to the background image.

  • 5:48 to 5:51 .. how do you do that? what do you press?

  • @midorishimiz how do you delete it? Simply press the backspace/delete key on your keyboard.

  • I can't tell what I'm missing. When I use the brush I'm just getting black, not the transparent part.

  • @Guzzball17 you need to apply a mask to the layer as demonstrated in the video.

  • @Guzzball17 If you have already done that, make sure you have the mask selected by clicking on the thumbnail on the layer.

  • whats if u add them together, do the second method first, then touch it up with the 1st method...

  • how do you delete the background by using the brush, i try it once, but all it did it's just painting colour on it.

  • @liquidsnakeckw You need to apply a mask to the layer like I showed you.

  • Comment removed

  • @kytan94 the magic wand tool? It's there. It's under the quick select tool I believe.

  • Excuse me would you mind telling me which Photoshop to get?? I would really appreciate it thank you :)

  • @ilovewalruses7 What do you mean? Which version? Right now they are on CS5.5. There is regular photoshop and photoshop extended. Extended has more features but is more expensive.

  • Thank you soo much for your professinalism and your willingness to teach people !!! :)

  • @MagikCityMusicGroup you are very welcome! I wish more people were like you :)

  • at 2:56 where you rub the face back in what tool is it? because i did it the first time but now i forget what it is

  • @viperpain that is actually the same brush tool but with the foreground and background colors switched. You can switch the colors by pressing the "x" key on your keyboard.

  • Honestly, i've never muted a video so fast before. Your voice is boring.

  • @iVisioNx3 that's fine. I just made money off your view. Thank you for stopping by.

  • @DisneyCasperLyrics so does your dad cousin george bush gives you anything at all and did you even meet him please answer :D ?

  • By the way people, you can also use 'Quick Selection Tool' combined with 'Refine Edge' which will give great results and a lot faster.. Thanks!

  • I've used the first method before, but I don't get how to do the second one I mean after you select everything with the magic wand what do you do to get rid of everything and just leave the person in the picture?! I'm so confused you never said what to press after that

  • @Cheddar323 yeah this was one of my first tutorials and I was not very prepared. You have to select the areas you do not want and then press the delete (mac) or backspace (PC) key on your keyboard.

  • @ConnorCrosbyPrdctns it's all good bro I figured it out afterwards thanks to you I learned how to cut/crop out images though. I'm a first time photoshop user so I'm soking up as much information as I can. I still use the first method that you showed more often though because the magic wand doesn't seem to work as much. Instead of cutting everything out it always looks like I just painted it with a white brush and just distorted the picture so there's not way around it so thanks!

  • omg HEELLLLLLLPPPPPPPPP

ok someone was taking a pic of me and there was a creep standing next to me.how can i take him out of the photo but still make it look like it wasnt edited out PPPPPPLLLLLLLEEEEASSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEE HEEEEELPPPPP

  • @MrTynka11 content-aware tool. I demo it in another video.

  • lol and say woops you do that

  • Hi there, I need some help.. I finished the work with your first option, but now how do I use it to put that image on a background? Please help!!!

  • @alexisjmx open up the image you want as your background. Then click and drag the image you just cropped out onto that background.

  • HELP!

When you explain about the possibility of doing a mistake by using the ereaser tool, you mention a tool you pronounce "the X-tool"! What tool is that?! I was going to give it a try, and now I ruined an hour of work, because I cant find this tool of yours!!!

  • @tonedyb I meant the 'x' key on your keyboard.

  • ty yuor the bast

  • my internet just died :(

  • @XmajormongooseX well, it sucks to be you!

  • You dont typically use JUST the magic want tool >< It's more of a jumping off point and can be combined with several of the other techniques you use here.. Just saying

  • @MasterFhyl yes, I know. I just wanted to go over the basics. You can use a combination of all these tools! :)

  • @ConnorCrosbyPrdctns I figured you knew as you talked about clients and such. I was just saying, because I happen to love the magic wand tool. Limited as it may or may not be

  • @MasterFhyl yeah :) I like it as well, especially for quick things.

  • cough cough obamas the worst president ever

  • @LegionCinemaHD REPUBLICANS 2012!!!! XD

  • @Eddddddddddyz hell yea

  • @LegionCinemaHD Worse than George Bush?

  • @BeingBornAgain1988 yea a million times worse

  • @LegionCinemaHD Bush is a great guy , bombs children for oil and doesn't afraid of anything

  • @Comrade4561 Yea but in a few years those little children turn into terrorists and also see what obama turns people into, you can't even have correct grammar

  • @LegionCinemaHD Your "terrorism" is a mere excuse to invade other countries to fill up your pockets . And you obviously don't get the joke .

  • @Comrade4561 Thats not terrorism when your in a war with someone, so why don't you join obama and have a cup of tea with his fellow terrorist buddies

  • @LegionCinemaHD No thanks , I'm not American , and neither am I fond of any of your presidents . But you can just keep hiding under your bed because of "terrorists" .

  • @Comrade4561 ha don't have to see in America we have whats called an army which protects us from any muslim bitches

  • @LegionCinemaHD Both your army and government protect your banks and corporations . It couldn't care less what happens to you .

  • @Comrade4561 Are you fucking retarded too you know how to speak english?

  • @LegionCinemaHD Bet you couldn't run the world Mr.Critic

  • @LegionCinemaHD Right... cause George Bush never happened... George Bush didn't lead us to the problems we have today... Everyoneee forget about politics, history and just blame the black guy.... Because he's the worst out of all the presidents... sure and pigs can fly :D

  • @MoGeYeS

Yeah blame it on George Bush even though he hasn't been in office for 4 years oh and nice race card buddy. Look, Bush left some messes but Obama could've cleaned them up.

  • @LegionCinemaHD Yeah, we are all waiting for Bush to come back. He was the greatest terrorist, I mean president of US of all times!

  • @GetSongz ha atleast Bush wanted to kill the terrorists, all obama wants to do is have a tea party with them

  • @LegionCinemaHD I know Obama is not such a great president, but honestly anyone is better than Bush. I don't want to go into political fights, but there is a lot of messed up stuff that Bush done over the past years. Bush had a lot of unnecessary wars and kind of damaged the economy.. Plus am still unsure about the 09/11... Still think he was behind it to have a good reason to fight middle east for oil.. But anyway, just saying. Its only my opinion, don't want any YouTube wars in here ;)

  • @GetSongz ok first of all bush became president at a bad time because of clinton, and clinton was behind 9/11 not bush

  • ya know, you coulda just done magic wand to the majoraty and just took a lasso or quick selection to finnish it off... its faster :P

  • @GoneToTheDoggy yeah, I know... I found out about that tool after that video lol :)

  • @ConnorCrosbyPrdctns where can i find magic wand in newest photoshop?

  • @Fa1led it's there... In the tools palette.

  • @ConnorCrosbyPrdctns oh true thx :)

  • 5:41 Epic side chin.

  • Thanks ! Really Helped !!!!!

  • after you have done the transparency stuff and moved a pic onto the background how would i resize that pic ??

  • @RiskyKel depends what you mean... Resize the one with the transparency? Use free transform (command or control T). Resize the bg? Double click the layer and press okay to make it a regular layer. Now use free transform. Resize the whole document? In the menu, go to "image" or "edit" (I forget which) and go to image size... Now resize it. Hope that answers your question.

  • @ConnorCrosbyPrdctns yep worked out it was free transform i needed thanks heaps for this vid and the quick reply! =)

  • It funny because you used a picture of Obama.

  • wow, this is still really confusing

  • @Tonkergrl hmm really? That may be a problem on your part...

  • can't you just use wand then use brush to clean it?

  • @MinecraftWidExmakarz yep, that's an option as well.

  • @ConnorCrosbyPrdctns tht was fast.. :P

  • @MinecraftWidExmakarz yep, I'm a speed demon ;)

  • all of a sudden... WOOPS !(A)

  • Excuse my question, but I'm not afraid to say it, I'm a total noob with Photoshop. So I cropped out my person, but how do I apply him to another layer, ie change the background?

  • @memikeg it's fine, everyone is a beginner at some point :)

You can do a couple things. One is open your background picture in PS. Then click and drag it to your person file. Then just drag the background layer down below the person layer. You can also drag the person layer to the background picture.

  • And lets say you do all this work then whoops... haha love the tutorial

  • @xburnitdownx77 lol thanks :)

  • @Netrex44 No he was cropping Obama. its a difference!

  • excellent demo thanks

  • How did I get here from sittin' on tha toilet.

  • This question might be dumb, but I want to cut out an image and just have the image with no background. So that it would be the person only with nothing behind.

  • @hal0dude7 no question is dumb... What you do is cut out the image and then save it as a PNG file. This makes the area you see checker boxes on Photoshop transparent.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS, I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS ALL DAY AND YOU WERE MY ANSWER <3

  • how to crop from 4:3 to 16:9?

  • @lukaszwilno hmm, well you don't really crop it. You would have to open a new document that's 16:9 (such as 1920px by 1080px) and then insert the 4:3 image inside that. Then use free-transform and drag the sides to stretch it to fill the whole document.

  • I must point out that you could also of gone to Select > Color Range and selected the grey area.

  • Dude u flat!!

  • Question~What kind of Photoshop are you using and how much does it cost. I'm planning to buy one

  • @TheOfficialSasuke13 In that video? I believe CS3. I now use CS5. I forget how much it costs. Look on Adobe's website.

  • @ConnorCrosbyPrdctns Thank you ☺

  • @ConnorCrosbyPrdctns i don't get it how did you get your brush tool transparent, i didn't really understood what you said

  • @TigerMeet2142 I apologize for that. This video is pretty old and I wasn't very good with tutorials back then. What you do is select the layer you want to remove the background. Then add a layer mask to it. Now, make sure your foreground color is black and background color is white. Now paint the area you want removed with the brush tool.

  • @ConnorCrosbyPrdctns one little question i duplicate the layer, and i want to know how to make the dupplication smaller?

  • @TigerMeet2142 press command (or control on PC) and the letter "T" key. This does free-transform. Then scale it down.

  • @ConnorCrosbyPrdctns thank you so much [btw i have a pc mate]

  • @ConnorCrosbyPrdctns I got a problem, i have brushes, these are .abr files where do i need to place them?

I'm so sorry for bothering you with questions, but you're my last hope since you respond fast [which i really appreciate]

  • @TigerMeet2142 it's okay. glad I could help :)

Open the brushes tool, then open the brushes palette. Now click on the little triangle inside the circle and choose "load brushes".

  • @ConnorCrosbyPrdctns i have downloaded a shape, and i noticed i couldnt load it becuase its not compitable with my version of photoshop, i have cs5, how to fix that?

  • @TigerMeet2142 I'm not sure what you mean.

  • @ConnorCrosbyPrdctns hey, if i got a shape, how to cut out the shape from the image? ;like a 5 point star shape

  • @TigerMeet2142 Control click on the thumbnail of the shape layer and then invert the mask and press delete on the layer you are applying the mask to.

  • @ConnorCrosbyPrdctns ok and what i need to do then?

  • @ConnorCrosbyPrdctns can you please explain ot better? i dio what you do and only is happening is deleting the star FFS

  • @TigerMeet2142 make sure you control-click on the thumbnail of the layer. You will see dancing ants around the star. Now, select the layer you want to cut out. If you want to keep everything in the star, then invert the mask. If not, leave it. Then, press the backspace key on your keyboard. Hopefully that's more clear.

  • @ConnorCrosbyPrdctns thank you, but im sorry, i have another question, i have made the canvas bigger in scale, and i need to know how to select all layers in once to size it up ?

  • @TigerMeet2142 The best way I can think of it putting all the layers in a group and doing free-transform.

  • @ConnorCrosbyPrdctns hey I now want to do it otherwise, i want to cut out a hole in the middle of an image, the shape of the hole i want to cut is a smaller layer what i need to do with those 2 layers, if i want the hole in the big image

  • @TigerMeet2142 Not sure if I understood it correctly... To cut a hole out of an image using a layer command click on the thumbnail of the layer in the layer's palette. That will create the "dancing ants". Now select the layer you want a hole cut out of. Press the delete (or backspace key) on your keyboard. Ta-dah.

  • @ConnorCrosbyPrdctns you seem like an intelligent individual. certainly... im not ..... can you explain more properly?

  • @TigerMeet2142 check your YouTube inbox messages.

  • @TheOfficialSasuke13 Lol save your money, downloaded a cracked one

  • The best way... Pen tool...

  • I was going to watch this till I saw Obama so i'll go some where else for the info.

  • The first part......it wouldn't let me erase the background. I followed your instructions, but it didn't work on my picture.

  • @mjack824 make sure you select the "background" and make it a regular layer by double-clicking and selecting okay.

  • surely to god theres a better way to do this!

  • @XTh0mPs0nX there are other tools. Look at my videos for another tutorial that explains the others.

  • LMFAO, horrible cut

  • wtf no magic wand for cs5!!! FUK U ADOBE!!!!

  • @BulletProofGeek no, it's still there.

  • i dont get it :/

  • Wow great tut I used this to make a image that I needed for a after effect intro

    Thanks!

  • @YouCallitPiracy glad I could help :)

  • after you do all that, how can you make the edges smooth and not make it seem like it was cut out? anyone anyone anyone...?

  • @romans1111 Command+click (or control+click on PC) on the mask in the layers panel. Then go to select -> modify -> feather... Choose about 2 or 3.

  • @ConnorCrosbyPrdctns do you need to have a layer mask in order to do this, The Way i did it was just copy the picture and paste it on a transparent background and then erase the parts i need without having this layer mask., thanks

  • @romans1111 no, you can command-click the icon of the layer which should make dancing ants.

  • @romans1111 CS5 is actually a really powerful tool.. and this video.. is clearly, clearly for beginners :| when u do a selection, just click on "Refine edge" and use the smart radius.(u can fine tune it on ur own) It will however, automatically cut out the subject, in less than 30 seconds. Best part is, you won't have to do the job. Photoshop does it for u. Of course, u can adjust the outline by using feathering at 1px.

  • @Neutralguy yep, you are correct. This is geared towards very beginners. The Refine edge tool is also very handy for that. Thanks for clearing things up :)

  • good job

  • hi how to shortcut the pentool to from big to small? please...

  • @darbats press the left and right brackets on your keyboard. Left makes it smaller, right makes it bigger. Thanks for watching!

  • oops:DD

  • @Netrex44 Fuck off

  • use the quick selection tool

  • @byJXCK yes, I actually use that one a lot now since I made that video. Should have included that, d'oh!

  • what program do U use?

  • @Dkzztez Lol, you are joking, right?

  • @HDCollateralGaming sorry i asked?!

  • @Dkzztez Photoshop CS3 for this video.

  • how do you make that tool smaller?

  • @Corey4085 I'm not sure which tool you're talking about, but try pressing the open and closed brackets on the keyboard.

  • @WWECorreLover It's CS3 I think.

  • i HAte your Model you Should Cut Ben Ladin instead

  • @sergeant07 haha, I should have. But, this was 2 years ago before his death.

  • How do you cut a perfect slice out of a pie? How exactly you do that? What tool exactly in Photoshop do I have to use? If anybody can reply I'd greatly appreciate it. Basically I need to cut a slice out of round pie with Photoshop. Thanks guys.

  • @jmwwd you could use the marquee tool and click out a triangle from the circle.

  • Wheres the "X" tool....?

  • @ineffect781 sorry, I meant "X" key on your keyboard.

  • can/how do you add it to a video???? PLEASE REPLY!!!

  • @VentrioquistMaster go to File -> save for web and devices... choose PNG and have the transparency checked. That's if you have no background. If you do, you can uncheck transparency or choose JPEG.
