@princepersia1 Gear ratios work best for internal combustion engines due to the torque loss between the multitude of moving parts. An automatic variable gearing system would be best for the electric car, but come on which hardcore standard automotive buff would actually fall in love with a car that they can't choose which gear to throw it in, I hear you.
@Scorpion85629 Yh the Tesla is a POS, I don't know why they made it. Who wants a 1 gear car which takes years to charge and isn't fast. 0-60 might be fast but the top speed is turd and it's just too expensive and just stupid. This plane however is awesome.
Haha I just watched this, at the start I was thinking "when will he go to full power?" Then I realized this is electric. :D Just shows how used you are to noisy dirty petrol engines. Cool plane!
Saw this puppy at Oshkosh. Even though you could describe me as a slight opponent towards electric aircraft, I was thoroughly impressed with it's performance. This is a step in the right direction for electric aircraft given it's stronger relationship to a sailplane than your run of the mill Cessna.
My only real knock on the aircraft was that it did float a bit on landing. However, It's obvious why and I'm just used to VERY short runways where I fly.
I guess this is the way the world is going but it will be sad when the next generation don't get to experience the wonderful music of a reciprocating aircraft engine. It will be many years of course before one of these electric planes is truly a viable option over current offerings, and probably beyond my lifetime before we see large commercial aircraft powered like this, if ever. No airline would ever have an aircraft sitting on the ground for many hours while the batteries charge.
lol! its like if someone said that it would be too bad that the new generation wouldnt hear the pounding sound of the steam engine no more when the reciprocating engine was invented... resistance to progress is never a good thing
@alex3261 The latest news I heard form the inventor is, that there are now 2 lithium-akku-packs on board. 1 is enough for 45 Minutes flight. Greetings from Germany
What a pathetic response! A very valid question regarding Kit. Having built and flown a fibre glass kit it looks very possible. Similar concept to the Monnett Moni.
Actually, I am something of a tight-wad when it comes to money. : )
But I'm serious about wanted to build one. There's some REALLY sweet kits out there. Sonex is currently building an electric plane that will eventually be sold as a kit. If you look at the speed, range and price of a brand new Skyhawk and compare it to the speed, range and price of a RV-8, then the idea of building one becomes very appealing.
Inspiring indeed. Danke schön Herr Gologan!

Do they make ducted fans? I want to build an electric jet. Imagine an electric BD-10.

Fuck that's cool, I hate electric cars but I'm sorry this plane is AWESOME. The noise level, the efficiency OMFG I want one ahahha :D

@princepersia1 I take it you hate the Tesla Roadster, Tesla Model S, and the Citroen Survolt then.

Excellent achievement Calin, congratulations! Very nice looking aircraft and VERY QUIET! Any info on the endurance and the time to recharge?
