ACTUALLY, Time isn't a strict progression of cause to effect. From a nonlinear, nonsubjective viewpoint, time is more like a big ball of wibbley-wobbley, timey-wimey...stuff.
@7:23 When Chesterton about to faint Susan came over and HELP him. That was so nice of her to do that RIGHT there. I'll give her A +++++++++++++ plus on that for helping a person out. You agrees with me on that.
@NateSean LOL Although, if you think about it, to him the TARDIS has been a phone box for a lot longer than 60 years - he was something like 200 in the beginning... now he's 1088.
@Valer4e Not according to The Impossible Astronaut. When he meets with River, Amy, and Rory he says he's over 1000, and then he "dies". So technically, by River Song's Wedding he has to be that age, doesn't he?
@NateSean I seem to remember the 11th Doctor saying that the TARDIS observes the surroundings, finds the best disguise, and then turns into a police box. Could be wrong but I coulda sworn I heard that somewhere.
@katrinadax The chameleon circuit is supposed to make the Tardis blend into it's surroundings. A police box doesn't blend in to anywhere on 21st century Earth, much less to any other century or planet it's been to.
@FlamingWatermelons I'm well aware of that fact. I was replying to another commenter who had cited a comment by the 11th Doctor which was irrelevant to the discussion.
@thegodlessatheist Lol Remember what Ten (or was it Eleven?) said once - he was really young here. It was a bit of that "Oh, I'm so grown up listen to me" attitude everyone gets at some point in their youth. ("You know what it's like when you're young..." I believe were the Doctor's words...;)

isnt it odd that a man from the future that has traveled through time and space doesnt have wits enough to look around before lighting his pipe in the middle of a desert he hasnt been before
The Doctor's smile at 6:14 is so characteristic of each Doctor afterwards that it gave me chills. I love that even with all of their different personalities and habits and things, each one of them, from One to Four to Nine to Eleven, has still got that smile.
Mum's opinion is that Dr Who No 1. was the only one who was any good as he was genuinely angry when he found bad things. Looking back a I agree but I continued to watched up until Tom Baker's time came to an end.
Dr Who was unique in looking so far into the future possibly a passivist which is very fitting follow two world wars and the formation of the UN and EU. And the science of the that came out of world war two primarily the electronic computer developed at Bletchley Park.
I looked forward to watching the first episode of a new science fiction programme with my mum.
This was the most frightening programme I had watched when I was four or five. The introduction to a machine that could change its appearance but did not on this occasion and the cave with rows of skull at the end of the first episode.
So revolutionary to develop Alan Turing's 1935? idea of a virtual machine to a machine that creates its own material substance. Based on Particle Wave duality
What I find funny is how so very different the first Doctor is from all his other regenerations. He's stuffy, extremely careful, dislikes and distrusts humanity, and takes an enormous amount of stuff with him at all times. Unlike the 10th Doctor, who was exuberant, friendly, trusted most people, or the 11th, who was very friendly and leaped into situations with only half a plan formed. Not to mention the 1st has bags of equipment, a notebook, a machine, whilst the 5th didn't even use the SSD.
In which Ian finds out about time being made of timey wimey, wibbly wobbly.... stuff, a caveman totally fails to make fire, and the Doctor finds out that the TARDIS he stole is now permanently stuck in the shape of a police box. All in all, a good start. :)
@Centuria13 I was half-hoping that the first doctor would use a more eloquent manner of saying basically that. Not in those exact words, but.... same basic sentiment.
hey thanks for posting im not new to doctor who but im sorta new to the classic series i watched the unearthly child and im about to watch the cave of skulls i think im gonna try and get a bit more in to the classic series
