And on the Nintendo point, they should have been preparing for this every since the death of Gunpey Yokoi...
I love Miyamoto's work, but I really think he would be better off transitioning into a mentoring role like he was talking about anyway.
With Iwata at the helm, I'm surprised that the big N hasn't already set about fostering new talent and working on new IPs to grow their brand past the shiny plastic of the Mushroom kingdom.
It's sad, because the man is OBVIOUSLY ready to ease his workload and take it easy. But he is being coerced out of obligation to keep going. Not to good an idea on their part or his. Burn-Out is a very real and serious issue for high-pressure workers.
I didn't know about that Microsoft clause, but luckily I live in Queensland which is one of the few Australian states where the law actually states that you cannot sign away any of your legal rights in any situation, so if that clause was in my T&C then the whole thing is moot anyway. :D
Software companies screwing with their staff goes all the way back to Atari. Activision were founded by a bunch of pissed off Atari coders who wanted recognition for their efforts. Activision is just another empire of evil these days. Greed ruins great companies.
All this DRM stuff is so stupid, coz the *only* people it makes life difficult for are the people who actually buy the games. Those who use pirated copies don't have to put up with all that BS.
Its hard to remember Activision's very noble and humble roots when looking at the company now. But, yes, they forged greatness from poor treatment and yes, I suppose even Atari didn't know when to stop before it cost them money in the form of the first EVER third party game company.
Every time I fire up a DVD and have to sit through the 3 minutes of anti-piracy warnings I think "If I had pirated this, I'd be watching the fucking movie by now...".
They really need to stop making people regret actually paying for their wares.
I feel like they are banking on complete console dominance of the market without a thorough evaluation of history and facts. Throughout gaming history console and computers have continued to shift back and forth in terms of market control. To assume that consoles will dominate for the rest of time is a really idiotic.
I think the thing that concerns me most about the Miyamoto situation is that it seems to me like he wanted to step down and take a less active role, and in the end wasn't allowed to. Of course, if he really wanted to quit he could, but I assume he's sticking it out in the name of loyalty to the company. But if he wanted to step down, there must be a reason for it. He's probably getting ready to retire and is trying to wean Nintendo off himself.
@pocketmego yeah, i havnt really been playing much of onlive recently, feel let down about space marine MP, also since the last update i've been bugged with nothing but the g40 error. hope all is well with you Rage.
Game Wrong is great. Why not have a go at posting GAME Wrong on all the Forums, Facebooks and Twitters relating to the weeks topic? I know for certain Sony and X-Box have forums you can bung it on at least to get yourself noticed although it's a bit risky so put yourself as a different name for posting the Game Wrongs hoping that the forums have dedicated comments forums for that type of stuff. :D
I hate ubisoft so much. they are all so difficult!!!!!!

So glad the Australian Government seems to have better control of their Lawyers than we seem to.

@SteveBenway You are 100% right on both points.

Ubisoft. Ugh. They used to be such a *good* company. You know, back in the original Rayman days, heh.

@HiroGaems (cont'd) And Nintendo needs to let that happen. Let the man go, prove they can make it without him. Hopefully they can.
On an unrelated note, I'm almost shocked Capcom hasn't screwed up in the last few days. I think they're overdue for another boneheaded decision. ;)

Yeah, I'm kind of shocked. When I started I assumed I'd have something to say about Cashcom, every single week.
