These girls dont seem to harmonize as well as the ones in English. Still sounds pretty decent though overall. =] They were really strong in some parts where they lacked in others.
The voices of Seymour and Mr Mushnik were really good though. =]
Little: actually, I'm not sure there are singers in the french version. It could be the same girl doing the same song three times. It's just dubbing after all. They didn't need three singers.
That said, singing in your own way and dubbing another singer are two totally different things. Dubbing and getting it hard is hard, and singing? I admire the unknown, uncredited singers who did this job.
The girls were dubbed by three good french singers famous in backing vocals (Jocelyne Lacaille, Hélène Devos -former "Swingle Singers"- and Anne-Marie Godart).

The dentist was dubbed by a famous french singer and actor named Gérard Rinaldi

J'ai vu le spectacle sur scène à Paris dans les années 80, et quand le film est sorti je l'ai vu aussi... La traduction dans le film et dans le spectacle étaient assez différentes! Your french is very good btw!

Dalli: I prefer the stage finale too, but the movie one is okay. But even the words of the songs were different in the french movie version and the french stage version (of course because of the dubbing and lips movement the words couldn't be the same). Intersting to see both though. I wish they redid it in France. Btw the Movie industry isn't that bad here, there are some great films being done (some with a big international career).
Yes. I watched the whole film in French yesterday (with French subtitles). It's a little strange watching a dubbed film. There is one particular French film which is very famous over here. "Amelie". But most of the big, international films are American because America think they own the world!!! But it is nice to see most films in your own language, so it must be really frustrating for the rest of the world. Your English is superb!!!!!!!!!
