If you are a decent player.. you can play any kit ...but ....a great skinned and sounding kit bring the player out in you ..for sure!
I am giving Pearl their new Catchphrase -
" Pearl Drum s - Brings the player out!" "Pearl Drums - Just add PLayer " , "Pearl Drums - Find the Player within !" , Pearl Drums - Release the inner drummer" , Pearl Drums - WE made the KIT ..You bring the HIT!"
On this rack how do they get the small bar to fit the racks together. They show it at 1:00 . I have to know where to get this smaller bar thing. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
really interesting seeing all the available colours, i would give my left nut for a reference kit. but some of the worst camera work i've ever seen, it felt like watching blaire witch project! clearly the guys was looking at drums while filming, not looking through the camera.
I own a reference and people are often mislead about the tuning of the reference, the bass drum tunes itself, right up there with Ayotte, Brady etc. The Floor toms are magnificent, i have a 14 &16. The 10" is a lovely tom, the only problem was the 12" but after a few weeks and various different skins I got the sound I was hoping for. Finishes are dead on too.
Basically all you have to do is go to a Pearl dealer near where you live and tell them you want to order a Pearl Reference series kit. If they are a reputable dealer, they'll be more than happy to help you out.
The reference sound is professional. You are asking me to compare/contrast - to be honest: I consider the Export a 6 on 10 scale made from Poplar. For an improvement, you may consider Pearl MCX, which I consider 8 on 10 scale. 6 ply maple - soft, warm sound is excellent for smaller venues. Pearl Reference are $2699 for 4 drums - 10 on 10 scale. The 8" & 10" Toms are Birch (a bit aggressive), the 12" are 6ply Maple, the 13" and larger have plys of Mahogany. Contact us for more details!
Say you are playing a smaller venue here in Chicago...let's say Double Door...Stones have played there and the sound system will blow your face away..ok?
Now....considering good tuning and good sound engineer...will this kit sound better than my Export from audience point of view? I have heard cheap kits sound great and excellent kits sound sub-par at Double Door..so what is the verdict?
i just order the red glass its going to be nice.

I love this Green "Emerald Fade" at 2:12.
If the Hardware will be black then it's perfect in my opinion.
