  • Very Abbey, both the singing and the background. Have her on audio tape singing "The Early Rising Sun". That's not even on Michael Fitzgerald's discography of Abbey. Hope someone out there can post it on You Tube, or at least confirm when and with who she recorded it.

  • do I hear steel drums, marimba? niceee Caribe touchhhh! hehe

  • can anybody tell tell me who playd piano in this track?? the solo is amazing !!

  • Thanks for posting! I was fascinated by this song first time I heard it, when I got the album. Never heard a song about abuse before. There's so much of this going on in society, and it makes me so sad.. Jealousy, hate, posseiveness - why do so many people confuse these feelings with love. Perhaps because they are insecure? Heal yourself first, then open up for REAL LOVE. I for one do not want to give up hope .. Not for as long as I live.

  • @Yeevvooihon Thanks for your beautiful words.

  • The other singer on this is Maggie Brown, daughter of Oscar Brown, Jr. She was so thrilled to have been invited to join Abbey on this recording. Maggie is one of the women I interviewed on my internet radio show MUSICWOMAN

  • Ayer murió esta valiosa mujer. Música, cantante, poeta, escritora. Humana. Comprometida. Yo la conocí con este tema. Me fascinó!!!!

Seguirá con nosotros. Y en su otro lugar. Con el mayor cariño y consideración

desde esta distancia ya quizá inconmensurable.

    María del Amor

  • Verse 3 Wonder how it came to be. Things with me and you. How we lost the way to love, How we got so blue. Body slam your lover down, Fill'em with regret Who knows what the end will be. It ain't over yet. And it's supposed To be love Yes, it's supposed to be love Well, it's supposed to be love Say 'cause it's all 'cause of love"
  • Body slam your partner down

    Up against the wall

It's a sad and scary scene

    With no grace at all

And it's supposed To be love

Yes, it's supposed to be love

Well, it's supposed to be love

Say 'cause it's all 'cause of love

  • And it's supposed To be love

Yes, it's supposed to be love

Well, it's supposed to be love

Say 'cause it's all 'cause of love

    Verse 2

It's a sad and lonely song

    Sour grapes and tears

    Something dark is going on,

    Going on for years

  • (Compose By Abbey Lincoln)

    Verse 1

"Body slam you to the ground

    Messaging a chill

    Curses make the head go'round,

    Brings a certain thrill.

    Send you to another world

    Mesmerize your brain

It's the jewel of a pearl

    Makes you go insane

  • Thank very much.

  • I Love to call her the "The Poet". Simple class and elegance at its best.

  • Spirited and strong human being.
