@mikecuzins I will next time, given the comments received so far. I must say that with round initial I would have never hit that third at the end.
Anyway the intent was to give an idea of the instrument some of the finger movements, and the basic sound, rather than my skills, next time I'll give it a better title. Peace.
There is such a thing embedded in the continuum, but it was switched off, Rudess helped design part of it, but it feels like cheating (clearly results would have been better).
That setting doesn't make you miss a note, it's like playing a fretted violin... it's a bit like cheating (at least to me)... But it is indeed useful and admit having made use of it
its works like auto correction on a fretless instrument....you keep the expressevnes of natural pitch detuning or vibrato alive as long as its duration is within a time frame..if you play between notes, it will pick the closest semitone to adjust by sliding to, after the default time has been breached...called "rounding rate"...
thanks for the demo, there are indeed few videos of the Continuum to be found ... and mostly they do not focus on tonal music, just some random experimental sounding stuff
How many presets are there, since it now has built-in sounds ?
But with each single preset you can do really a lot given the playing technique, each of your fingers are (to simplify extremely) an ampltude envelope , filter envelope and a pitch envelope.
3 additional presets show off what the engine is capable of (scrubbing of samples, time and pitch stretch..)
Google for a guy called Edmund (or Ed) Eagan, he's a Continuum virtuoso (he designed the internal sounds).
That's a cool little machine...

you should have used initial pitch rounding.

@zinoff yeah true, but cant you use custom scales?
mikecuzins 1 year ago
@zinoff I would be VERY interested to know how much they cost and where to get one! It looks amazing, thanks :)

@tommie997 you can check on his (Lippold) webpage
google: continuum current prices

@mikecuzins Why? You can clearly hear that this is an Arabic atmospheric piece inspired by the quarter-tones of the Middle East. lol

well rudess himself uses it and he's insane. i don't see how it would be considered cheating!

I agree with you. Maybe we can see it as a didactic feature for beginners?

Is there no good part for the listeners? Where are you from? Pluto?

What do you export this to? Just straight to an amplifier or do you need to go through something else?
yayimme1 2 years ago
Either straight to amplifier when using internal sounds (like in this case where I am using the camera microphone to pick it up).
Or you can connect it to a midi synth and take from there.
BTW the new continuum software has new sounds and the continuum can now act as an effect box itself.
zinoff 2 years ago
Awesome, thanks. Do you need any special type of amp or just a regular keyboard one?
yayimme1 2 years ago
It has analog and digital out.
You just plug it into amp or mixer. It has line level output like a normal keyboard.

Thank mate! Great help :D

I'd like to try one of those

I heard the Dheli 6 stuff, the technique is very good, the sound used was not very dynamic.
Anyway, for me it doesn't compare with Ed's work, Eagans stuff is miles deeper.

Presets are still few:
2 FM, 1 awesome string model, 2 trombone like
But with each single preset you can do really a lot given the playing technique, each of your fingers are (to simplify extremely) an ampltude envelope , filter envelope and a pitch envelope.
3 additional presets show off what the engine is capable of (scrubbing of samples, time and pitch stretch..)
