This is a very powerful and dangerous bike. My uncle (27 years) totaled his bike. Let's say it went under a SUV and he got 3rd degree burns. ( he had an 07/06 r1).

Dang I hate that this bike looks better than the 09 ZX 10 because it's making me want the new R1 in this same color! Kawasaki needs to come with more radical graphics and color schemes because the solid colors are getting boring! You should take the R1 and give your wife the Honda! Or trade the Honda for her a 08 R6.

rooter639 ------ Have you ridden the 09 model? Little rider friendly? No no my friend. As a matter of fact, the 09 R1 is more scary to ride than the previous models. Why? Because the throttle response is so freaking fast. The throttle is very sensitive compare to previous models. Also, did you know that the 09 model is way heavier than the previous models? Which means, more weight. more harder to ride. Traditional inline4 has more horse power, but the crossplane is a whole diff. story.

my 2007 r1 will smoke my mates 2009 r1. the 07 is a faster bike in a straight line. FACT! but on the twisties ive got no chance! his handles like an r6!!! the 09 is a great great bike. still love my baby more! safe riding my friend! from a very cold England!

@dukeofpearl --- i completely agree. The traditionl inline4 produce massive power compare to a crossplane. But the crossplane gives the R1 a very smooth, fast and clean throttle response.

@leonardokibbs ------ I had a 2007. Even 2008, 2009 or 2010. It does not matter. The K9 R1 will smoke the CBR any time any day.

2007 yes, but to say smoke the next gen. CBR that you never owned is a bit of an overstatement,, even if you did ride an 08,09,10 you definately did not have it long enough to truly see what it can do,, did you race one to justify your claim? or are you getting it from the you tube comparos? don't get me wrong I also owned and liked the new gen R1, but I felt the gearing was to tall, I'm sure -1up front would of made the R-1 a little quicker and used it's midrange to it's full potential

In my book something being smoked is something that got beat bad, by at least 2 bike lenghts..guess your definition differs I've beaten my friend on his 09 blade in the straights many times, but not by much, we are both aggresive street riders that are equal in skill. but at 186mph does it really matter, I agree the R1 is faster, it did get to 186 first,, the blade does get the jump early cause of the typical in-line 4 rush.. but to say the blade gets smoked by the R1 by my definition is wrong

I originally wanted to get an 09 or 2010 ZX10R. More Horse power and more aggressive looking than the 09/2010 R1. But i had a good deal with the R1, so i went for the motorcycle of the year.
