  • Good old Brits

  • I'm still not convinced why the option of bombarding Bordeaux was forfeited.

Britain never 'd any troubles with bombarding factories in occupied territories such that casualties was always high amongst occupied civilians & forced labourers.

This commando operation was simply a test, a proof of capability for his new unit.

"Here is something you lot can pull off, prove your worth".

And same as the telemarkmission ; a succes in the end but NOT OWING to the planners, coz awful many mistakes

  • Simple Answer

Dont fuck with the ROYAL MARINES !

  • @old45marine

with 10 casualties out of 12 men... not quite a boasting feat.

And the "6 months shortening of the war" exclamation by Churchill surely is to be taken by a large lump of salt... to cover up another operational costly blunder...

  • @oddballsok What ever happened, 12 men with balls done their best. The few the proud the brave & the stupid. Like myself serving in Norway for five years to keep the Ruskies out. lol

NOW, Big issue, Big issue. every time I walk through town....quess who..Ruskies.

  • The narrator sounds like he's been drinking.

  • Excellent and informative, good archive shots and detail of the results of the raid. I've read the book and seen the film, now this documentary fills in ome of the extra detail I wanted to know. Thanks for posting.

  • trust the Nazis to shoot the commandos they captured even though they were in uniform; scum.

  • One of these Italian 'human torpedoes' can be seen on the ground floor of the Imperial War Museum in London.

(I will film it the next time I am there.)

  • @alanheath I will check it out. Do you have any videos of the Imperial War Museum.

  • @2bn442RCT I have got several but I don't think they are particularly good except perhaps for the one on the Jagdpanther and Mitelbau Dora - part of which came from the IWM but which had its soundtrack censored by YT!

  • mave.foorumi.eu

  • 1.19 seconds in, after the intro, tell us the fate of 8 of the 10 - THANKS VERY MUCH! no need for suspense - no, just tell us how it ends at the beginning.

    Typical US doc rubbish.

  • @ryko26 I think a bit more respect could be expected. This is peoples' lives you are writing about.

Of the other two, only one was still alive in 1992.

  • @alanheath what the fuck are you talking about dickhead? In what way was my post in any way disrespectful? Are you on drugs?

  • @ryko26 First of all look at what you call me. That is pretty disrespectful isn't it.

You probably have an anger problem and need psychiatric help. Of course for cowards like you, hiding behind a false name, you possibly feel 'big' insulting others knowing that you can only be traced through your IP.

  • @alanheath Well done "Alan Heath". Now back to my original question: In what way was my post in any way disrespectful?

If anyone is picking a fight and needs psychiatric help it's you.

  • Bought a book about Special Forces, this raid was one of, if not my favourite story. The amount of courage, ingenuity and skill was unbelieveable. R.I.P.

I have always thought the British were the most responsible for holding off Germany's world domination until the U.S joined the war. If they had fallen, the war would hve been much different...thank you Brits!

  • Cool up-load. It's nice find something new.

  • 3:25 Are we surprised? Hahaha!

  • thanks GD I've never heard of this one

  • Yes its very interesting! Your welcome thanks for your comment.

  • Interesting...

I have never thought about the German supply line and the role of French ports. I am still wondering about the German - Italian supply line. Did it exists?

  • There is some false information in this video.

Germany got their iron ore from Sweden, more particulary from the mines of Kiiruna.

  • Germany did get some of it's iron ore from Norway, but most of it (50%) did indeed come from Sweden, so the narration is misleading.

  • @OrlopRat42 German iron ore largely came from Sweden - via Norway as the mines are closer to the sea there and the Baltic suffers from freezing in the winter whereas the North Sea suffers much less.

  • Thanks for putting this up. I remember well the 1955 film which, though fictionalized, seemed to capture the spirit of the raid quite well. It was filmed with the cooperation of the Royal Marines, with Lt Col Hasler and other survivors serving as technical advisers. I recommend Phillips' book "Cockleshell Heroes", which I think is the only book length treatment of Operation Frankton.

  • playing boths sides at the middle, profits coming in from both sides and assured victory since they backed both allies and axis, from waterloo ww1 ww2 to today they're playing the world like a game of chess, or a guitar.

  • play all button sweetness isn't working for me

    great uploads :)

    5/5

  • Ok it's working NOW!

  • Thanks!

  • Thanks for putting this up!
