Thanks for sharing this wonderful live show, i will always regret not having been there among the crowd... And fuck, this song always make me feel like crying upon my own ashes... "i've never done good things, i've never done bad things, i never did anything out of the blue..."
I saw the original video of this song when I was a kid....now it means so much more to me because I can understand some of what he is talking about....I promise to kick....no smoking crystal...want to come down right now....we know Major Tom's a junky.....David Bowie is timeless....and so sexy
@1Andy42 I think they are both pretty fabulous. Listen to some of the sweet finger popping stuff he does to make the piece really heavy at around 2:00 and I love some of the guitar embellishments too.
Un-fuckin-beleivable!!! I'v liked Bowie since I was a kid when china girl was released,, but this is his best,,I think 5 well earned stars!! The whole band blew me away!!!! :D
If that was me in the crowd, I would have shoved everyone down, even if they were just sitting there, which is what they all seem to be doing... IT'S DAVID BOWIE GEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!
I friend of me was on a Bowie concert a long time ago in Hamburg and it was a small hall. The Hamburgers(?) were all silent and sitting... But she was 15 years old and wanted to dance. So she stood up and started dancing. After the song Bowie pointed her and said:"That girl is allright". After she was out of the hospital...
Please add me and subscribe back I appreciate it soo much<3333
I love your channel<3333
but yeah you can leave me a comment like about anything for example "penguins" and I will laugh and have a legit conversation with you about "penguins" lol<33333
I love reading people critiquing Bowie's band....let me clue you in. They're probably the hottest musicians on the planet...the cream of the cream, hand pick from all over the world...your "hero's heros"...same with the sound crew and lighting crew...the absolute best available on earth that money can buy.
In my life, there has been no other song to bring meaning into my life. I clearly remember watching this and hearing it for the first time on cable TV in West-Island Montreal in the fall of 1981. It remains to date my number 1 song.
Thank you so much for posting this fantastic version and in such great quality. Truly made my night.
Yeah. He's Mark Plati and is superb. Even matches Carmine Rojas who played during the let's dance era. Still gotta love george Murray tho, who did the original bass.
If you look at his facial expressions when he says the more deeper going lines, you can see the thin white duke and ziggy. They are still in there! Look at 1:20. The band is superbe as always.
hes only going thru the motions here... the emotive under the skin feel isnt here like the album... to truely nail this, u have to be livin this song... for both better & worse he wasnt in that space at this time & space.
Yeah I ignored it for a while, but now I love playing it acousticly on my guitar. Its almost as fun as Space oddity, almost! but it hasn't a different flavor, I love the line "But the little green wheels are following me, oh no not-again!".
@redpcr Also, the great Adrian Belew, who played guitar for Bowie for a while there, has said on numerous occasions that he was very pleased that Bowie let him add some to the songs when played live, so obviously Bowie has confidence in his players.
still LOL'ing @ qcmv22's comment... google the name mark plati and hang your head in shame.. there's nothing like a nobody making patronizing comments to accomplished players... buddy!
bass guitarist is insane!!! 2:07-2:11
