could you please tell us which Camileo do you have? Then we can suggest you to use the automatic mode to film indoor with bad light conditions...because the camcorder sets the best settings! ;)
@Chairmaneoin: It is about night mode performance issue, since H20s F# (iris) is 3.5 which have better performance in out side use (depth of field is much better), but also it will have a disadvantage in low light condition. It´s a performance issue with this camera and we are trying to improve that.
@ToshibaMultimedia If Toshiba is aware of the problem with grainy moviess when recordning in low light (I would say the camera is absolutly useless in anything then bright daylight), WHY do You post a clip like the one above? I would really like to know what post-processing that has been made here to make it look so good, if it's even shot with a H20.
Thanks for your comment! Lets be straight on low light filming: even high-end professional cameras face difficulties when filming in these conditions, and with consumer cameras that is not different. Compared to bright daylight filming your shots will be more grainy, but you can reduce that effect to a certain extent when you adjust the settings of your camera to tungsten.
Moreover, you should make clever use of the existing lights in your shots. Our advice: first focus on the available light sources and let your HD camera adjust itself to the situation. That might take a few seconds. Only then you should push the record button. Under these circumstances, avoid fast movements with your camera. Doing so, as we did with our sample videos, you can reduce the grainy effect significantly.
I have the p30, I haven't had a chance to film outdoors yet but when I film indoors in regular light, the picture is horrible and grainy. I tried playing with all the settings and none of them improved this.
This video just says "use tungsten" but that doesn't help at all. I hoped i could film my christmas with this camera but it was a real dissapointment.
With adjusted settings and making clever use of existing artificial light you can do pretty good indoor shots seeing is believing. Check out our online video guide for further advice.
I think using auto is much better indoors then to use any other settings, I still think that outside using is much better then indoors, hope your new cams will be good for both :) So far im very pleased with the H20, it captures all the fast movements very nicely, and if you want to study tricks in slow motion, best setting is the 720p 60fps !!
Why you use P30 so often in your videos? It's most popular model of your camcoders?
