  • hogwash.

  • i have read almost the entire bible am catholic and i'm 18

  • Good. I did that when I was about 17 too =)

  • If Jesus is the key to enter through to God,

    then how is he God...?

I mean why would God enter through Himself to get to, well, Himself?

I believe that Jesus is God's son.

  • Read my channel description. No debates!

  • Oh, give me a break. "The evening and the morning' were 1000 years then? Utter tripe.

  • I have no idea how long it was. I can only speculate since I wasn't there.

  • I forgot to give you a 5 star rating.. I just did now... You tell em girl! you rock!

  • Thanks! =)

  • hi, you say it so well

    Steve

  • Thanks =)

  • Whooaaa I didn't know you could get a bible like that, I'm not of any particular religion but I like to try and understand all of them and that bible would be an awesome addition.

  • I am gay.

  • I know. You already left a comment on my channel. Do you want a medal or something? Should I write "I'm straight" on your channel? I don't get it.

  • Biblegirl. Sounds sexy. You HOT, baby :*.

  • I will tell you where confusion comes in. When God created the heaven and the earth. That wasnt a day. This is the first verse. When God creates something it is always good. Verse 2 in the hebrew language and ways that it became without form and void. Darkness was upon the face of the deep. The fall of Satan happened between Genesis 1:1-2. We dont know how long it was and when he exactly did it. Then he calls day 1 an evening and a morning. That is a day in every culture.

  • Did you read my channel description? I don't appreciate your pushiness. If I have any questions on the bible, I'll ask my pastors or my parents who are also ministers.

  • Oh, I do have one question for everyone. If Genesis 1 is to be taken literally (i.e., 24 hour periods), how do you reconcile Genesis 1 with Genesis 2 in that the accounts of creation differ in these two chapter? Open question for discussion.

  • Who says God's "day" and "night" were literal 24 hour periods?

  • I happen to not accept literal 24 hour period interpretation. However, a number of respected Bible teachers hold the stance. The question really originated with Augustine posing the question, and until the dawn of modern science, it seems 24 hour days were held. With the advent of modern scientific investigation, many people have changed their attitudes toward the issue. I myself am a physics major in college and just don't see how 24 hour periods holds up.

  • However, to answer your question about who accepts 24 hour periods, John McCarthur does for one, who is syndicated on the radio. One of the organizations that is actually putting Christianity in a bad light in the scientific field is Answers In Genesis who created the creation museum, they also have books written by scientists claiming that science supports 24 hour periods. However, as I understand the physical evidence, this just isn't supported. Even traditional Jews are divided on the issue.

  • I don't focus on that stuff. Christ is only concerned with the condition of our hearts. And I don't debate... Ever!

  • night and day were 1 day.

  • Read my channel description please. And watch the 2 large videos. I DO NOT debate! And I don't allow any of it in my comment sections. When people have specific questions and are genuinely interested, I address their questions via private messages. This channel is "Drama Free".

  • For everyone interested in the meanings of the words 'day', 'morning', 'evening', etc, I highly recommend the book, 'Reading Genesis One' written by Rodney Whitefield. It delves, verse by verse in Hebrew, the entire chapter of Genesis one and provides useful commentary. God bless all!

  • people also remember that to God... 1000 years is a day ;) WINK WINK!

also his name is Jehovà! :D

  • Yep. And He has many names. I have a book of just the names of God, and the meaning of each one. It's a really cool book.

  • Woot! Someone that says "FRUIT of the spirit" not "fruits." I do have to differ with you on the fact that I do believe that when God said it to 6days to create the earth, that it was a literal 6 days. If God had meant 6mo, or 6 year, wouldn't He have said 6 mo or 6 days? And also, look at the fact that Genesis 1:5. "And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day." Why would he have said that if it was not a literal day? Anyway, just my thoughts. :)

  • I agree that it was a literal day. But since God is eternal & exists outside of time, how do we know that His morning and night were the same as our 24 hour days? I'm not saying it was definitely a longer period of time. I'm just saying that it was possible. I wasn't there and I'm no scholar, so I don't know for sure. I just like to be open to the possibility. I mean, He's God Almighty. What the heck do I know? ;)

  • Thanks for the Bible lessons. But how do we know from Genesis that it was the trinity talking to each other? That is silly. What about the angels? Weren't they there at that time?

  • The angels are always "doing battle in the heavenly places" with the demons.

"We wrestle not with flesh and blood, but powers and principalities." So when a person does something hurtful, you shouldn't hold it against them, because it's not really the person that's the problem. It's issues from their past that have caused them to act that way IE: "power" working within them. You should pray for that person, which strengthens the angels who are doing battle with that "power" in the heavens.

  • I like that. We give each other a benefit of a doubt. Or at least we try to. Or we should try to remember. But do we? We are going around criticizing each other. And sometimes we do it thoughtlessly and hatefully. That doesn't bother the ones we are attacking. It actually backfires and makes us angry inside. So I like what you say about praying for them. It not only helps them but it helps your mind. Don't you think?

  • Yep. That's the beauty of forgiveness. It benefits everyone =)

  • if you can "get all the little subtleties" and "understand it immediately," then why do we even need bible scholars?

You sound rather full of yourself when you claim to be able to perfectly and plainly understand a book that has caused centuries of theological controversy, and which is admitted to be very difficult to understand at times, even by the men and women who have dedicated their entire lives to studying it and learning the original languages.

  • Anyway, don't let me discourage you from reading it. But be careful interpreting it. Understanding it in context is harder than your average reader supposes.

  • I NEVER used the word "perfectly" and I'm certainly not this critical of others, either.

  • Come, Let us make men in our image. Some people use that sentence to say that there is more than one god. Thank you for giving me something to say back to them. Pure awesomeness.

  • I believe Jehovah's Witnesses are the only one's who believe that. At least that's what I found on their web site a long time ago. They use the same theory for John 1:1. Here's how basically ALL Christian bibles read. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." And here's how their bible reads. "Originally the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god." Their bible is the New World Translation. Notice the key word that was added?

  • I did notice that. Ever wonder why there are so many different religions? I have wondered for quite some time about it.

  • I think a lot of it has to do with where you are in the world. Predominant beliefs are in different countries. And in the U.S., there are different Christian denominations because a few people decided they disagreed on a tiny percentage of one denomination's beliefs, and started another one. And then there are others that have just taken scriptures out of context and created something so different that it resembles a cult.

  • The reason for the schismatic nature of religion is that it is a man made. Religions are nothing but elaborate myth.

  • The reason is because the word used for "God" in Genesis in the Septuagint is "Elohim". "Elohim" is plural, it is not "God" it is "gods".

  • King James is not hard to understand, it actually improves your intellect and English speaking. That just an excuse to claim other Bibles are better when they are not. There are many perversions out there.Read Genesis..Satan's very 1st attack was on the Word of God saying "Hath God said?" creating doubt in the Word. Genesis is a great book as it also is a prophecy book aswell and goes into the nephilim and Noah and the flood

  • Well, I guess it could improve one's comprehension, except that people don't speak that way anymore. Wait. Let's re-phrase, KJ style.

Well, I guesseth that one might improveth upon their English comprehension, excepteth that thou doest not speak thus as such anymore. LOL!

  • But its the Word of God! what makes you think the English spoken today is any better? :)

    people sound like idiots today!

  • teemu- You're absolutely right! Most people sound like complete idiots today! They couldn't properly structure a sentence if their lives were dependent upon it! ;)

  • Well, I guess it could improve one's comprehension, except that people don't speak that way anymore. Wait. Let's re-phrase, KJ style.

Well, I guesseth that one might improveth upon their English comprehension, excepteth that thou doest not speak thus as such anymore. LOL!

  • Remember, the 24 hour day is an Earth day. The time it takes for the Earth to spin on its axis 360 degrees, in the light of the Sun. Stand on almost any other planet in the universe and a day won't be 24 hours. A few things had to happen before the 24 hour day: energy converts to matter (quark confinement; The Big Bang), galaxies form, Sun and Solar System form, Earth cools and spins down to current rate. It's at this point that the 24 hour day exists. Genesis begins before this time.

  • Interesting theory.

  • Concerning the days of Genesis, 24 hours or not:

There is a fascinating book The SCIENCE of GOD by Gerald L. Schroeder. Schroeder tries to bridge the gap between science and religion. His question: Is it possible to reconcile our faith in science with a belief that the Bible is the Truth?

An early chapter discusses the six days of Genesis. Science shows that the universe is 15.75 billion years old. How can nearly 16 billion years fit into the 6 days of Genesis.

  • The most naturally occurring shape in nature is that of the Nautilus shell. The shell, seeds in a sunflower, curves of a tusk, spiral arms in a galaxy, etc. This exponential uses "e" which is basic to spirals, kind of like pi is basic to circles. We should not be surprised, then, that this same formula correlates the cosmic time of Genesis with Earthly time (of 15.75 billion years). Take note that this same formula describes the exponential decay of radioactive atoms!

  • So think of the six days of Genesis on a clock in the shape of the Nautilus shell (as opposed to a circle like on a watch), with the wide mouth being 15.75 billion years, spiraling inward towards our 24 hour day. Break the shell into the six parts, call each part a Genesis Day, and you find:

  • Genesis Day One = Earth Day 15.75 billion to 7.75 billion years ago, during which: Genesis: The creation of the universe; light separates from dark Science: Big Bang, light breaks free as electrons bond to atomic nuclei, galaxies start to form

Genesis Day Two = Earth Day 7.75 billion to 3.75 billion years ago, during which: Genesis: The heavenly firmament forms Science: Disk of Milky Way forms; Sun forms

  • Genesis Day Three = Earth Day 3.75 billion to 1.75 billion years ago, during which: Genesis: Oceans and dry land appear; the first life, plants, appear Science: earth cools, liquid water appears followed by first forms of life: bacteria and algae

Genesis Day Four = Earth Day 1.75 billion to 750,000 years ago, during which: Genesis: Sun, Moon, and stars become visible in heavens

  • Science: Earth's atmosphere becomes transparent; photosynthesis produces oxygen-rich atmosphere

  • Genesis Day Five = Earth Day 750,000 to 250,000 years ago, during which: Genesis: First animal life swarms abundantly in waters; followed by reptiles and winged animals Science: First multicellular animals; waters swarm with animal life; winged insects appear

Genesis Day 6 = Earth Day 250,000 to approx. 6,000 years ago, during which: Genesis: Land animals; mammals; humankind Science: extinction 90% of life. Land is repopulated: hominids, then humans

  • New American Standard is a great version as well =]

  • They're really all good. I prefer my NIV, just because I've been using it so long. But I grew up on the King James. Now I get my scriptures all messed up when I try to quote them. =/

  • I grew up on King James for a while... I got my first NIV around the age of 12. I love NIV-but NASB just seems to be the realest to me. My poor lil study life application bible is falling apart! =]

  • I know what you mean! When you get a favorite, and have a bunch of highlights, and know where to find what you're looking for, it's hard to part with that bible!

  • I have the NKJV Study Bible. :D It's actually for teens but it's nice because they really make it simple.

  • It's definitely a plus when you can understand what's being said! LOL

  • most people do believe what? since most christians in the world don't use either version of king james---how is that possible? historians disagree with this assertion as well.

  • Huh? Believe what? What assertion?

  • i'm not christian. that being said, most christians in the world are either anglican (episcopal)lutheran, catholic, or orthodox. since none of them use king james (either version) i'd say its improbable most people "think" its the most accurate translation. thats all. historians and linguists also think literal translations are not accurate to the languages they were written in. that's all. just disagreeing with one point about "most people" thinking its the best translation is all.

  • OK. I'm a non-denominational Christian. I have issues with all the different denominations because the silly issues that caused all those splits in the first place. AND maybe the general consensus has changed. But I know a lot of life-long Christians that believe the King James is the closest in accuracy to the original Greek and Hebrew. But I prefer to just compare them all, to get a better understanding of what's being said, AND look at the entire passage instead of just one verse. =)

  • fair i was just clarifying. even atheist histroians disagree KJ is correct. that being said...there have been lots of splits, and calling oneself non denom is in fact denom...if you follow. be well.

  • Actually, if you look at how churches are setup, they each have a hierarchy. And they should. That's what keeps pastors, bishops, priests, etc., from getting deceived and leading others off track as well: end result of that = cult. BUT, denominational churches push their denomination and expect parishioners to donate money to the denomination, in addition to their tithes and offerings. NON-denom churches do not. I've been a member of a denominational church before... (cont)

  • I got so sick of hearing about that denomination! I go to church to hear the word of God and to be taught biblical principles and to worship. SOOooo, Mr. Tim :P, there IS a difference between denominational and non-denominational churches. We DO have the biblical accountability structure, but no extra denom crap being taught from the pulpit. BUT, we do have interdenominational activities, including Messianic Jewish interaction. ;)

  • The interaction between all churches is how it should be. God wants peace and unity. That's why I don't want to say I'm one specific denomination. I'd love to see unity, where people stop focusing on the 1% they disagree on, and instead, look at the 99% they DO agree on. And that's why I am the way I am. I know I have atheist and agnostic subscribers here. So I try not to push them. I consider them friends. We can just agree to disagree =)

  • they have a pastor, therefore a hierarchy.

  • They who? You mean each denomination? Yes. They should. You mean that's how you define a denomination?

  • I love the way you explain all of those things! I'm not much of a bible studier, but I have quite an extensive exposure to it, being catholic and all. My only problem with most people who study the bible is that they take the whole thing so literally. It was never meant to be that way. And the fact that you seem to have such a knowledge of the true meaning of the scripture is so cool!

I also have to admit that I was surprised that you're nondenominational. I would've guessed something else! :)

  • I take a lot of it pretty literally, but I just sent you an e-mail.

  • Just wait until he gets to Psalms.

Some videos will be very short.

Others will have to be broken down into many segments.

  • I just hope he doesn't ready Chronicles O.o

  • Hi!

What is your belives anyway? Do you go to church, and if you do what one? You sound pretty solid in your faith!

    Dale

  • Non-denominational, on the worship team, solid foundation =)

  • My Bible study would really like that four chapters in one.

  • Try cramming it into 10 minutes! Whew! =/

  • oh yeah...and r u in a robe?

  • Yup. =)

  • well,

first no pants, and now a robe??? what youtube trend will you start next

  • Hey, at least I'm wearing clothes. I'm not trying to get subscribers by standing here in a bikini :P

  • wow...

  • You haven't seen those? People make videos that have nothing to do with a hot girl, but they put a hot girl in the middle of the video, so it shows up as the screen shot. That way they get more video views. It's really shallow. But the fact that they get more views is proof that the world is full of perverts.

  • ew...i try to stay away from thoughs. but i do know what you are talking about.

    what a "whore house"...hahahaha

  • Hey! I told you you're not allowed to use that one! LOL

  • Lead by example mom...

    :D

  • You are such a brat O.o Go to your room!

  • im already in my room. :D

you really do sound like my mom

  • LOL. dmurawski hasn't been around much lately. I have to tell someone to go to their room.

  • geez. dont take out your anger on other kids ! gosh

  • LOL

  • wow. i cant believe he is gonna do this.

he will have a hard time when he gets to number and deuteronomy, it will put people (and him) to sleep.

i have like tons of bibles too. but i have one that is "Bible in 90 days" ...the hardest thing...ever

  • you really are a bible girl!

  • Shh. Don't tell anybody. =D

  • Oh. My. GOSH!!!!!! I had no idea that you could get more that one translation IN THE SAME BIBLE!!!!! Whoa... you should see me when I'm on my way to bible study... I look like the bible bag lady with all of my different translations! THAT IS SO COOL! I WANT ONE! LOL!

  • LOL. I thought everyone knew that. It's a parallel bible. They mix them up differently too. I'd like to get one with the Amplified version in it. But there would be a lot of wasted space for all the other translations!

  • Maybe that's why I get laughed at for having a trillion books on my lap at the same time? Eh, one of my other friends does that too... I lead last meeting... and I only used two bibles... I was so proud!!! I think I'm going bible shopping!!! Like you, I have shelves of bibles and other biblical books... I've recently realized that I can leave them in my Sunday school classroom and if people use them, they put them back... so until one goes missing, majority of them are relocating there! Yippee!

  • LOL. It's definitely easier to leave them their. But when I taught our youth group I found that some things will eventually go missing =(

  • He's going to be waiting a LONG time to make a video when he reads Psalms. hahaha :p

  • Oops, I realized that he's actually reading the bible in his videos. heehee

  • Yep. He's reading one chapter per video. =)

  • That's good for him. :) Hope he can get something out of it..and if he needs help I'm sure it will be biblegirl to the rescue. lol

  • I don't pressure him (not my style). Actually, we don't really talk about God or religion at all. I'm not sure what prompted him to do this, other than he decided he just wanted to understand it. So I decided to just fill in the blanks =)

It's kinda funny because I was thinking I wanted to do some video responses. So I log into my subscriptions and look what I find. LOL!

  • Lol oh no! I didn't mean pressuring him into believing anything! That's definitely not the way to go. ;) I just meant if he's confused by something maybe you'd make another video like this. That's all. :)

  • Oh! Yes. I just made another one. I'll do them whenever I think it's necessary =)

  • Biblegirl, thanks so much for this post. I'm curious about...having a closer relationship with God and learning more about the bible and applying it to my life. It's great to hear these lessons from someone that's not "preachy", but rather open and "normal". lol, for lack of better words. I hope you make more posts like this. :0(

By the way, I thought the bible was written in Aramaic and not Greek, no? I haven't a clue, so please tell me! :0)

  • You think I'm normal? LOL!!! :P And it was primarily written in Greek and Hebrew, but Jesus spoke in Aramaic, for the most part. =)

  • I love the multi-translational bibles plus I have a program that also has concordances and commentaries.

  • Those programs are expensive!

  • Brilliant. I gained the habit of biblical research before I converted to Christianity. You obviously gained that habit as a Christian... rare, my dear.

So few Christians actually do their homework or practice His will that my evil butt frequently feels like the saint... so the pop-culture religion of atheisim has merit when attacking Christianity.

Before I converted, I was one of them. Unlike them, I attacked all religions (I favored attacking all Jewish-based religions though).

  • Thank you, but I'm certainly no poster child for Christianity. I even push the boundaries a little bit in areas I don't think are a big deal. But everyone has their own idea of what's "good" or "bad". But I still want to have fun! =D

  • True. I subscribed to you and I actually like you for your non-robot-fundie personality and real points of view.

    I subscribed because of that.

Must I mention post-its with an "8" on them?

So true about the moral boundries, my dear.

  • HAHAHAAA! Yep. You found my boundary! LOL. I figured if my parents (ministers), family, friends and pastors didn't care, then why should I worry about it? =D

  • No wonder you want to play and we can relate (relatively speaking).

    ;)

Is this where I play Darth Vader or should I offer a grey area for us to meet?

*flashes your sleeping mother and runs away*

  • LOL at flashing my mom. If you only knew! My mom has like NO sense of humor. So of course, my brothers and I gear all of our jokes toward her. When she gets all huffy, it's even funnier!

  • That is why I did it. From your videos, I know her type. I did it for laughs. If I knew her in the real world, I would walk around naked in her presence.

    ;)

  • Now THAT would be highly unrecommended. I wouldn't push the envelope that far. Right now, my tattoo has her as far as she can be pushed :P Time to give her a breather. LOL

  • Great video :)

If you don't mind me asking... who publishes your Bible that has the 4 different translations? I'd love to pick up a copy of that, myself. Bless Ya's + + +

  • It's called a parallel bible. Mine's published by Zondervan; the same publishers of the New International Version. But there are lots of them. Mine is really old! My dad gave it to me about 20 years ago. If I had to buy another one, I'd want one of the translations to be the Amplified Version. That one rocks!

  • oh I was waiting for you to say "Hi everybody" like you usually do. Surprised me.

  • LOL. But I'll be you weren't as surprised as I was when I saw a video of Victor reading the bible O.o

  • I don't think it is the most accurate version but it is my favorite.

  • I like my NIV and sometimes the Amplified =)

  • They could also be literal 24 hour days because with God all things are possible. A lot of Christians have different opinions on that though.

  • Yep =)

  • He should read a NKJV or a NASB and should probably start in the book of John. NIV = Not Included Version lol. Your multi version is called a parallel bible. You know I love picking on you but its good to encourage him. Your gift is called discernment and application.

  • Weeelll, my good buddy Victor is actually an atheist. I'll just let him read whatever he wants =)

And yeah, I know the technical terms but I'm keeping it easy for everyone else to understand. And actually, my real gifts are more along the prophetic and psalmist lines, but I don't go there on You Tube ;)

  • WHy don't you go there???

  • Not why I'm here. But a lot goes on behind the scenes... ;)

  • This little light of mine Im gonna let it shine lol

  • This was interesting. I have a hard time understanding some of the Bible and I read the NIV Young Discoveries Bible. Anyway it was good to hear some clarity about those things.

  • Glad you enjoyed it =)

  • Holy cow! (Or, more appropriately, "Holy Scripture!") Talking about definitions and versions could be a bit intimidating for the uninitiated. On the opposite side of the spectrum, there's always "The Message." :) You can even find it on line.

  • Well, this was an easy one. Weird, but easy. Gimmeabreakman, out of the blue, decided to start reading a chapter of the bible per video. Umm... he's an atheist??? But he's a friend, and he looked a little bit confused a couple of times, so I thought I'd help =)

  • is your skirt in the counch again?

  • oh no there is something peach back there isn't there. :P

  • LOL. Nope. Just the same pile of mending =/

  • Not today. It's chilly =(

  • A little beside the point but... were you affected by the power outage? I had heard there was a power outage in parts of FL including Datona Beach and thought of you.

  • No, but it's been really weird! All of Miami-Dade county had no power on Tuesday. That same morning, I noticed my GFCI switch was tripped in my bathroom and I had to go to the garage to press the main button. Then when I left the house, the street lights were all out! And I heard there were some areas in our county that were experiencing rolling power outages.

  • I realized you were talking to Givemeabreakman...so I'll probably go to his channel and find a vid where he's reading the Bible, but before that I was trying to figure out how to get to the vid you were referencing.

  • Hmm. It should be attached. I'll go investigate.

  • I just put the link in the description.

  • If you ever run into a verse that makes you say "huh?"...you can enter the reference into google or ask, it will usually pop up with the different versions. I find it helpful to read it in different versions but I don't have one of those Bibles with multiple versions together (parallel). There are sites that lay all the versions side-by-side too but I end up there through google anyway.

  • Biblegateway (dot) com is also a nice way to view scripture in multiple translations without purchasing a ton of Bibles.

  • Well, I already have a ton of Bibles, but that's just because my dad is a minister. He gave them to me =) But when people e-mail me with questions, I head straight to biblegateway =)

  • Hey BBG im so glad someone has started a bible study here on youtube very cool.

  • Actually, I didn't start it. Gimmeabreakman did, and he's an atheist! *shrug* I have no idea why. And so far, he's not adding any commentary. He's just reading it one chapter at a time =)

  • Oops. I forgot, he's doing these from his gimmeaflakeman channel. I just put the link in the description.

  • first cmnt :)

  • nvm >.>

  • LOL

  • I am sooo glad you replied to that video :) Thank you!

  • <:o)

  • Wow you know I have not read the entire Bible yet but I have read all of Genesis and I thought I understood it completely but I was wrong. 'Let us make man in our own image' I should have known that meant something deeper. If I have a question in my Bible study could I ask you? My pastor never gives me a straight answer, I am still a baby Christian and he pretty much responds with 'are you retarded, how come you don't know that' not very uplifting.

  • Where did my comment go? I answered you last night. OK, so anyway, you can ask, but like I said, I'm really not a scholar. But I'll do my best =)
