  • i need me that jacket

  • this has been a long time fave of mine ....real soul....what a voice...& classic guitar !

  • I fell in love with a woman half my age about 2 months ago. She is 31, has never heard of Wilson Pickett but she loves this song. It still works after all these years.

  • I love this version, the guitarist really takes the melody to another level!

  • It is amazing how youth can make a fool of you.

  • thats what love feels like. you find something so beautiful and you wonder how it surives in such a harsh world.

  • Wilson and Otis Redding had the most unique voices i've ever heard.

  • I know that Duane Allman talked him into doing Hey Jude and played guitar on it.

  • sooo sooo soooo soulful. man i'm 19 and i swear my generation just don't understand we've been cheated as far as good music

  • Effortless singing. He makes it look so easy. Gots to be tough because you can't find anyone today who can perform like this. Go ahead Wicked Wilson Pickett.

  • @doc2skate You can say that again!

  • How come all the sisters had great looking bodies back then?

  • Love the Wicked Pickett Looks like Jack tatum, tough as cold steel, but could sing right into your heart

  • This was a brother I would liked to have known ... I don't think most people know the genius of this guy , I'm still learning ... look at his concerts , full of white people and he invites them on stage ... the guy was definition of cool and his VOICE matched with an equally kick ass band ... Nobody can out do Wilson Pickett , NOBODY .

  • Forgot all about this one ! What a great tune ! Loved it back when it was popular.

  • thumbs up if edo g brought you here.dopest sample ever

  • I love the guitar arrangement. For me this is one of the greatest soul anthems: great video too. Thanks!

  • @afansi That ORGAN is what DOES IT.

  • love love love this song

  • wilson(so underated) but everybody knew... just the same who..... sam cooke, aretha were the best distinct soul singers vocally, ever... the best! yu can feel it when they saang baby... brother ray too.

  • marshall corner hall laplata md the midnighters and the that a rap thank for posting

  • The song, and the great rythmn guitar part, was written by the great writer, Bobby Womack.

  • @johnmulrenan: Bobby Womack, despite his success as a solo artist, writer, producer and all-round performer, remains an underappreciated giant of American roots music. He and Pickett had real chemistry together.

BTW, Joe South played alongside Bobby on many Wilson Pickett songs, or perhaps Reggie Young. Young is one of the most recorded session players in the history of American music. When the Memphis soul scene cooled in the mid1970s, he became a 1st call session man in Nashville.

  • Great romantic side of the Wicked Wilson Pickett. Lived in a small college town in rural New England, and they let me have a late night (college station) radio show in the summer. Used to love to close the show/station for the night with this song...

  • @alphuez: That's a great story... I also had a radio show in a small liberal arts college in rural America, and I played all oldies, especially the soul and R&B greats. I'd play this song fairly often, among many others...

I used to get calls all the time for this tune, believe it or not.

  • @GeorgiaBoy1961 I can believe it SOUL & R&B & COUNTRY MUSIC "LAST" the rest fall by the WAYSIDE. In my 25yr. radio career I learned that. You can identify with it and it touches you and sometimes excites you.

  • @THEMOJOMANsince1959: You are so right. Good music stands the test of time. Most of the new, "hip" stuff - the latest and greatest acts hot with teens today - will be forgotten by this time next year if not sooner.

I've long thought that classic soul and R&B artists have much in common with country performers. Both speak to the concerns of people living life and suffering the its joys and sorrows. Of course, the classic soul and R&B performers had energy and drive second to none, esp. Pickett.

  • I first heard this song on a mix my boyfriend made for me :) It was the very first track and it kicked off the cd wonderfully! Such a beautiful song!!!!

  • sure 'nuff in love! eddie you should play him. the only soul man we have today is cee-lo green believe it or not he can really sing. people would take him more seriously if he would'nt wear such silly outfits, he doesn't need them. check him out doing a remake of jackie wilson's song reet petite.

  • @pamella757able He wears those OUTFITS cause like most of AMERICA he's got a big body & butt

  • anybody know who the guitarist is?

  • @makalavena: Don't have the recording handy, but Pickett was recording at Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, during this time. Jimmy Johnson was the usual session guitarist. Some southern soul stars worked with American Studios, whose session guitarist was Reggie Young. Bobby Womack and Joe South also recorded songs with Pickett around this time; it is these two guys I believe did the recording. Anyone know for certain?

  • Kevhar12 I would agree...Eddie looks like him also!

  • If they do a movie on his life, Eddie Murphy should play him. That would be cool.

  • One of the best. God, where is the soul in todays music?

  • @KrfNYC2 Youtube Anthony Hamilton! You'll find nothing but soul there.

  • @bwilkerson813 Yeah I know him...he's cool.

  • "Thank you honey"

  • I'm in love, love, love...with this song! Thanks for the excellent Post!!!

  • Does anyone know who the guitar player is?

  • I Believe This Was A Video Clip From The 26th Edition Of "Soul Train" On March 25, 1972.

  • @radiodj1520 I thought this song came out in 1967? was it later than that? i kow Aretha made her version, too!

  • i think im pregnant!
