Either way it's hilarious but I find it hard to believe a man of his position is quite that dumb. If you look at the original video, Johnson doesn't mention that by: "capsize and sink into the ocean" he means: "overcrowding or social/environmental catastrophe caused by overcrowding."

He only claimed that it was "metaphorical" long after the committee hearing (in order to save what credibility he has left).

Suppose this was the only video you've seen of the incident would it be such an irrational judgement? I'm from the UK, so unless someone I subscribe to posts a video like this to enlighten me I neither know nor care about the mistakes of US politicians ;) I merely posted, without knowledge of the incident, a suggestion as to why he might have said this. Surely reasonable given that it cuts out before the follow-up conversation? And i'm not making excuses for him, believe me!

But he represents a district that, well I'm suprised his predecessor (Cynthia McKinney) didn't win for punching a cop in D.C.
