Fond memories of going to see Third Lanark with my Dad and big brother Kenny. Broke my Dads heart when they folded but the memories will never go away. God bless you Dad. Jimmy from Perth Australia.
@ITFCJez Not at all. Easy mistake to make, as as far as my knowledge extends, they only played football. (Lots of 'as' there). Professionally at least.
one of the great names of Scottish football, and so sad they are no longer with us. It would be nice to think that they might return and grace the stage once again, but in the meantime we can always remember the players like Jimmy Mason and Bobby Mitchell who played on this famous turf. Thankyou Jez for an excellent video
@rwv80 Support your local team my arse, in a democratic country people should be able to choose what team they support, not have it forced upon them by some do-gooder who blames the old firm for their own team being pish!
It's a beautiful place. I work nearby and visit often. Of course it's sad that Thirds are no longer with us, but time passes. As to a 'rebirth', I'd imagine clubs like Irvine Meadow XI and Pollok probably see themselves as filling the 'niche' that the Thirds left....
Brilliant film..Its really sad but I love the fact that this ground hasnt been built on & there is still football played on it to this day. Would be great if the terracing could be fully reinstated & a team called Third Lanark could grace the turf once more.
I am a Newcastle Uited fan and visited as many sites of former Clubs as I could and this one was the BEST!!! Former Newcastle Uinted players, Bobby Mitchell and Dave Hilley came from here.
Thanks Jez - nice work. I first visited Cathkin in 2003 and it it is an awe inspiring place. Even more so when you know its history. The Scotland v England (1-0) game was played there on 15 March 1884 - the worlds first ever all ticket match
just found out about this place and i really wanted to go see it and ofcourse i took a football :) never realised the history very sad they went bankrupt they seemed so good when i looked them up :(
Very sad im only 15 and just recently heard about third lanark so on saturday i went to see the pitch :) got a game of football on it except their was no goals :( didnt realise the history.....do the amatuer third lanark still play there?
It's amazing to think Rangers, Celtic and even Scotland and England have played on this park.
I had some school sports days here and used to live just behind it on Cathcart road, I never thought then, for a second, the place in history it holds.
well done jez, you have captured the spirit of the ground superbly. and thankfully a shopping mall as not been built... long live the hi hi........jig villa fan

Would be great if Third Lanark were to resurrect, even though it's unlikely.
A wee question, though: Were they not called Third Lanark A.C.?

@Kkardemumma Indeed you are correct. Apologies for that, I will adjust accordingly. Well spotted.

Great video Jez mate, the music is simply superb, I didn't realise that Cathkin Park was still around...hope Thirds do come back. Rangers fan.

Doubtful. Their fans have moved on and most of them consider themselves to be either Queens Park FC or Pollok FC fans.

Well Done Jez G.--Someone should do a gig 2 raise money for them. My suggestion: Simple Minds and Billy Connolly.
