  • "Largest crowd ever in a Monsters of Rock Festival, with estimates of 600.000 people, considered as one of the most attended rock concerts in history. Metallica's performances of "Harvester of Sorrow" and "Creeping Death" from this show were used as B-sides for the Sad but True single in different regional editions." From Wikipedia

  • @babvozzd 1.6 million btw not 600 000.........

  • @510Gavin. I used to look forward to my husband working the nightshift so I could watch HeadBangers Ball and I remember the hype and seeing One on there too.

  • ATTENTION METALLICA FANS

On the 15th October 2011 will be the 30 year anniversary of Metallica forming. This band comprised of mere men no different then you and me, have graced this land with music in its purest form for 30 glorious years. We owe them the honor of having the worlds most viewed video on Youtube! A title one little idiot doesnt deserve. Up until/on the 15th October 2011, all metalheads are required to watch Enter Sandman live at Moscow! POST EVERYWHERE

  • why are they CRAZY i almost forgot it's meatallica

  • cliff burton..epic

  • WELCOME TO MOTHER RUSSIA

  • @kallekotta music has no boundaries, no language barriers

  • Why the fuck is "My Chemical Romance" in suggestions. Thats insulting.

  • @BigJMart and why is a barfing cup in the suggestion box? How is that related to Metallica?

  • @BigJMart there is also a cover by Avril Lavigne ... I suggest we all get on a crusade and burn youtube servers :)

  • the wall comes down, and what was one of the first things form the western world to hit Russia ? Metallica. i think we made one HELL OF AN IMPRESSION !!!!!!!!!

  • "Largest crowd ever in a Monsters of Rock Festival, with estimates of 1.6 million people, considered as one of the most attended rock concerts in history."

    That's fuckin' sick!

  • is lars fukin with the tempo?

  • this is some badass shit

  • Pretty sure I was conceived here . . .

  • When Metallica rocked!

  • Legen......Dary

    \m/

  • That's a good performance, very close to studio.

  • In post-soviet russia crowd rocks you.

  • GOOSEBUMPS, Fucking loads of 'em.

  • Man that takes me back. I remember seeing 'One' on MTV during Headbangers Ball .

  • you just have to respect the size of this, when the camera shows the crowd, i just cant imagine what that would be like.

  • They don't make music like this anymore.

  • @22greve 100,000? 1.7 million, there wasn't space to mosh especially with army guidance. And yes, it has EVERYTHING to do with being a pansy, it's easy to avoid mosh pits, pansy's to the back.

  • Greatest hair band of all time. But 1.6 million is a bit optimistic. The Russian Bureau of Culture's official attendance estimate was 62,000. CBS News estimated 84,600.

  • @hailbot666 Coachella is over 100,000 in attendance. This is easily several times the size.

Woodstock 94 had 350,000. watch videos from it...this crowd trumps Woodstock 94.

  • @hailbot666 I call bullshit on those numbers. Pause the video and look at the crowd. I've seen 60K+ at sporting events and this crowd is huge compared to those.

  • You still can see this drumset at the Guitar Center of San Francisco

  • This video truly portrays how epic Metallica used to be

  • CARALHO METALLICA; WAS GOOD.

  • This wasn't just a rock concert, this was fucking HISTORY.

  • @Hartatttack420 fucking hipster

  • @hremington

    Those would be the liberals....

  • @Hartatttack420 we're turning america into what america was? was it bad or good? well it sounds like a compliment so... thanks :)

  • Where is the last note!?!?!?

  • 1:41 "Baaaaby Ruth?"

  • If I had just watched this without knowing the history behind it, I would of felt nothing. But now that I know the history behind this, it's even more amazing. Everyone should have the freedom to listen to whatever they want.

  • Metalocalypse IRL

  • freedom, baby!!!

  • well the cold war just ended, what did you expect?

  • I don't even like Metallica very much, but this crowd is fucking amazing.

  • and by musician i mean "musician."

  • jesus 1.6million people. thats awesome.

  • Vodka.......

  • Why do bands sound good live back then, but now a days they suck donkey dick?

  • @nkbjpn222 easy. b/c bands used to require talent to be close to famous. anyone with a mac, pro tools and autotune can be a musician these days.

  • is this what every deathklok concert was based off of?

  • that's probably the most hyped crowd they've ever played for

  • fucking mind blowing, gave me the chills

  • And you think any concert you attended was big or sweet

  • see the nicolas86 video to help the rock

  • I think that about 2 percent of the crowd actually knew which band was playing...

  • Enter живѣте и съ краткой

  • Metallica at their best would be before this piece of crap song and the piece of crap album it was on were released. Justice is one of the best albums of all time, the black album is trash.

  • @mglasgows Black album was not half as bad as everything that came after it.

  • @mglasgows Black was their only consistently good album. Yeah sure And Justice For All and Master of Puppets had some fucking amazing songs, but it doesn't help that the rest of the albums were shit.

  • @SeanHamilface Ride the Lightning was shit? You so crazy.

  • @nazzurro I meant

"doesnt help that the rest of the tracks were shit"

I agree, Ride The Lightning was fair beast; but still, just like Master of Puppets and Justice, had a lot of poor quality tracks.

  • This is too manly to comprehend

  • I whip my hair back and forh

  • in soviet russia, metallica is good

  • This couldn't possibly be in Russia. I think there are some people in the crowd who aren't drunk.

  • @IFknHateUTube No...Russians are always drunk just some have gotten so use to it that they appear sober.

  • @Poop97547 Of course! You're right, why didn't I think of that?

  • Damn, I forgot how good this song is.

  • In Soviet Russia, instruments play Metallica.

  • Meanwhile in Russia...

  • Yep. This was the last Metallica album I ever bought. I went and saw this tour when they were in the USA. I used to be a huge fan. Then they had to go and sue and threaten their fans. I'll never give them another dime.

  • fucking reddit, that fucking narwal, its a son of a bitch in the arctic, just fucking around with polar bears.

  • And what happens when they hit the harder songs from '91 and earlier? Master of Puppets? Blackened? Battery? Motorbreath? Ride the Lightning? Fight fire with fire? (Just to name a few.)

  • The apex of hair whipping.

  • You know it's going to be a good show when they have to call in the fucking military just to run security. (And helicopters.....? damn.)

  • Someone's getting sued for this vid being up.

  • Russia is SO metal

  • sausagefest

  • AHHH MOTHERLAND!!!!!!!

  • Metallica was dope until they started to sue the shit out of there own fans greedy pricks!

  • Don't believe anything you hear from Reddit, its a massive circlejerk

  • 1:41 Is that the lead singer of The Darkness?

  • By Reddit user OhMyGodTheresASni, adapted by me to fit a youtube comment:

This wasn't just a concert. This was the first open, free concert In Russia in 70 years, Before that, all foreign music was banned. There were smuggled recordings, but they were were rare and expensive, and only high-level party members could go to foreign music concerts. This one was a first breath of freedom for the 1.6 million people that attended.

  • @Tretso bs we had everything

from swedish bands concerts to some poor seattle band

don't spread your lies where i could see them hur dur

  • @landialiha Free and open?

  • @Tretso Bullshit i remember my father even having some music from the beatles and john lennon...

  • @Tretso Reddit blows

  • @Tretso

    Reddit is a terrible website.

  • @Drakith20 how come?

  • @Drakith20 you have no soul

  • @Tretso BIlly Joel played Moscow in 1986, and what about the Moscow Music Peace Festival in 1989? There's a kernel of truth in what you're saying but I doubt a Metallica concert was the "First breath of freedom" that these people had ever experienced, nice story though. Kind of like the one about Ronald Reagan single-handedly felling the Berlin Wall.

  • @MrDerekdoom Only high-level party members were allowed to attend Billy Joel's concert, and about that peace festival, shut up :(

  • In Soviet Russia, crowd rocks you.

  • @pickbo thats the only original and funny soviet russia joke I've heard

  • @pickbo Nice.

  • @pickbo In recently dissolved Soviet Russia, crowd rocks you.

  • even the police ... haah fucking great

    it's all about music !

  • In Soviet Russia, concerts freaking rock.

  • This is how the second cold war ended...
