Thanks for the vid man. I'm 17 and wanting to join the USAF but only one thing concerns me. I broke my collar bone a couple years ago. From that my shoulder pops when rotating it doesnt hurt but I know I'm irritating it. Hopefully this vid helps , and I'll go get one of those bunjee cord things
I am a former infantryman (1980s) and I wish we had videos like this when I enlisted. I am now a middle aged desk worker and before I did these excercises the arthritis in my neck prevented me from doing pushups. Thanks to this video I am getting back to strength and am even benchpressing again. Thank you for your service and advice SGT. and good luck to those enlisting.
Basically, the meaning I get from this is to strengthen key joints. All the muscles in the world won't do you good if you have weak wrists, weak knee/ankle joints, etc.
Sweet vid. I just picked up some bands today at wal-mart.I used a cast iron pan the first day, and then did push ups the next day, and even noticed a small ammount of improvement. I can do around 40-50 push ups in a minute. Im pumped for some results. Thanks a lot for these great tips.
thanks Sgt. Volkin for this vid! I only did 20 reps per day on these 3 exercises. A month ago I can only do 20-25 push ups. now I can do 90-95 push ups in 2 minutes! I'm going to Navy boot camp this coming december and it really helped me improve my push ups. thanks again!
Approximately how long is you band? I got one from Wal Mart but it's noticeably longer than yours, & I would like to be able to mark it at the length of yours to ensure I'm doing these exercises correctly.
I'm going to Fort Jackson, SC for my Army BCT on Sept. 1, 2009 and I need to improve on my push ups. I can do 44 pushups in 1 minute so I need to do MORE! lol!
P.s. these exercises BURNS! but I totally love it! anything to improve on my Push ups! I'm doing 50 reps on each exercises now. Thanks mvolkin for this great tip!
I have been thinking about joining the military for quite some time now, but, a combination of baseball and football has resulted in both my shoulders being injured. I have been working to strengthen the muscles surrounding the injuries; will that suffice, or will I need surgery in order to keep up?
I've read both of your books AND own them! I love the exercises and they really do help. I do these every time I have a push-up/sit-up day on my BCT training schedule. Thank you so much for writing these books and going beyond to help the future recruits and soldiers of our great country.
Probably the BEST shoulder tip/exercise I've ever gotten. I started doing these a couple of weeks ago and I'm already improving my push-ups. Fantastic, dude, thanks very much.

You really feel the burn after awhile. I leave for basic July 8th. So I'm glad these will help with push ups.
